Lee, I'm with Julien, you want it flush - even the overlying panels are clear of the troughs! See first pic.

I'm starting to think they might have done BOTH...a drop tank underneath, and a vac part on top. See second pic. What a pain if so!!

Who knows Martyn, ill trim it up today, then snap a pic, but ill not be dropping anymore in the trough, im still not seeing a vac part in there, one that rings out is the fact its grey styrene in the Chron pics, hence kit part to my eye, but either way, ill not be obsessing over it once its trimmed today :lol

Michael, cheers bro, the tank meets up good in the hull, mainly, due to a quick sand to blend it into the inner curve of the hull, once that is done, tacks right in there buddy!

Hah, Michael, cheers bro, man, im still kinda stunned at how well they turned out, again i have to tip my hat to the machinist in getting them done in a rapid fashion and the attention he gave them!

Been tinkering with those darn hull flutes bro, arrrrgghhh, what a PITA, but, ive got one done to my liking, itll sadly mean, my engine flutes are a little off to the prop, about 2mm too close together, but, at least i can breath a sigh knowing, they will be neat and tidy, you know i dont do crud lol.

She's testing my limits bro, big time, ive never been at the forefront of scratchbuilding, i try lol, but wow, this thing is a test of patience, ill be breaking open a large bottle of wine when i get these things done lol.

I know what you mean Lee, your getting a great test of what they went through to make these subjects!! Thing is when your finished you feel like there is nothing you can't do! Some say the filming minis are rough, but they are still a great challenge to model rough or as nice as your looks! When it's done you can sit back and say damn......I made this beast and there are only a few out there.thumbsup

Lee, I was going to mention that before but I don't think there's much you could have done given the relative widths of your spine and flutes and hull, right? Also, I don't want to come off as a negative (&*^&@%$$!

I know from my own crappy efforts that it's a total b1tch to get that whole area right, which I won't even know until I finally bite the bullet and take my pulls, but I doubt I'm even close to nailing it. I don't think you should sweat it, cos it looks great. You really are talking a few mm.

I'm with 3-dbuilder: I don't go RAH RAH RAH just for the sake of it...

Yeah, im not going to weep over a few mm lol, the side profile looks killer with the flutes and cowls dry fitted, so overall im pleased with how its going.

Count on it Lee, as soon as I'm past the vac stage and know I'm not going to totally embarrass the hell out of myself.

The side profile is the main thing with this ship, it's always shot from the side.

Cool beans Martyn, i think, as long as enough attention is paid, and were all within a few mm lol, these will drop socks indeed lol.
Thing to keep in mind, its never been done in whole, and, theres so little ref of her, so close for me, will go a long, long way lol.

Both flutes are now carved out, and look wayyy better, soon as i fit the other tank inside, ill post some pics.

Well none of the models were perfect, even the ILM X-Wings were not exactly the same size (from the same molds though :lol).
2mm on a 70 cm long beastie is nothing, noone would notice it unless they have ref pics under the eyes to compare !

On the other size, I know how frustrating it is to know something its off even if noone could notice it ! We can always do better but the principal thing is to take all the love into the build... And that's what you're doing. :thumbsup

Bro, cheers buddy, thats very well put lol, im sure, down the line, a few here will come along, with all the ref and info, and build the ultimate RT, but right now, im happy with how im doing lol. its by no means easy, wish i had a bit more scratchbuilding flair TBH lol.

Jay, the piping tech is simple, Plastruct rod, warmed by hot water, and bent with my fingers, hell, some of it bends very well without heat TBH, i used to heat this stuff with a flame or hairdryer, but it always made it a bit too soft, hot water (safety kids, dont use boiling water lol) and voila!
