Re: A storm is coming!

OOOOeeee, looking so good now.

Lee the Tyrell bits DO look cut out in the Chron construction pics, I can't work it out either. I think they maybe did cut them out but put in a wall a short way inside the part. Doesn't much matter, lotsa detail around there anyway.

Re: A storm is coming!

Yeah i cant figure it bud, looks as though the engine mountings run inside the Tyrrell, but, as you said, could be a styrene piece, as i said, it is an easy fix later, once i get the engine bell mounts fitted.

Talking of engine bells, these are still unknown, and ive gone through all F1 kits (rims) and im kinda stuck, there very thimble like in shape, very odd, but, they do appear to be made in alloy?

Who do we have here to turn these, im sure there is an engine bell guru around...Jim Small is it? Be nice to find out as id love to have these turned in metal seeing as the right donor more than likely wont be found!

Re: A storm is coming!

Mate I reckon the bells were probably turned in the first place. They were set up for that - the machine shop had to have been pretty busy on ESB - not just walkers etc but the bells on the Exec were turned too, weren't they?

Re: A storm is coming!

I think so bud, more and more seems more hand fabricated as they moved toward ROTJ, Moncal's spring to mind!
Its odd, in Mcquarrie's painting, there clearly Saturn V bells, too bad, in the transition to physical, they changed lol.
Ah we'll get to that, but its something me and Allan have touched on, turned alloy bells to "pimp" them up some LOL.

Jim has all of his bells turned up by fellow Canadian Mike Reader. Many members of eagletransporter.com have also sourced various turnings from Mike, and recommended him highly. His email is reader@mts.net

Re: A storm is coming!

JD1, thanks for that, ill shoot Mike a mail in the AM, and see what can be gained, be great to get these done TBH!

Re: A storm is coming!

Well, i got a lil' bit done today, been an on and off day with the three young ones, so no great leaps forward lol, think i got builder's too :lol
Anyhoo, worked some more on the engine bay and have now begun filling out the belly portion with basic structures, its tricky building all these sub levels and such, and having to think about the cargo box placement, ill get there, im just slow and Allan should be ashamed of me LOL.

Ah, beautiful, Lee! Yeah, I got to the point last night where I couldn't locate a part to save my life. Everything I tried just looked "wrong"... Probably too late a night at it. I really like your engine and the location of the Gepard. Been meaning to ask, that Gepard at the front seems to change direction and even "disappear" altogether in some of the ref. Have you seen that?

Re: A storm is coming!

Allan, wow, she's a looker, loving what your doing buddy. I agree on the front Gepard, total mind spinner, its there in the underside shot, i think lol, but i agree, its either way hidden deep, and the landing gear were fishing rods, or, it got ripped off at some point?
I cant even see it in ANY frontal shots, i can see the gears, but no ROCO......go figure lol.
IOm going to add it Allan, and fit it around the Lotus cockpit area, itll need some packing underneath though :cry
The rear ROCO, what a PITA lol, it doesnt fit well at all, ILM must have packed a lot of junk under it, all i did was make a styrene mount, nice ans sturdy, then cut the F4 engine around it all, and added some BT46 exhaust's.....itll do, but i may add some more hoses....plumbing rules :lol

Re: A storm is coming!

Lee, I'm pretty damn impressed with this build. If there is any way I can get hold of one of those hulls, let me know. I just LOVE wierd cargo ships!

Where did you get that lamp from- it's really cool!

Mike, Oz

Re: A storm is coming!
