PZ's SW Prop Collection - UPDATE: Authentic Symmetrical Hales Grenade - All Real Parts Obi-Wan Lightsaber

Awesome! I received my Qui-Gon too but it's a present for my birthday and have to wait a bit more than a week to open it! I wanted one for a few years now and a few days are ok to wait ;)
I hope you'll document and show the result of your part swaping, that's interesting (y)

I'm very glad you got a Qui-Gon too!
It's not going to disappoint you when you open it; pictures don't do this justice

For Qui-Gon, I plan on replacing the covertec wheel to a real one used in the film, dulling the aluminum finish, painting the black areas, and matte-clear coating the emitter piece to make it extremely close to screen accurate one :)

Of course, everything will be documented when I start the build next year!

Today, I received my 3rd extremely rare Red LED Exactra.
Disclaimer: All of these were found in the wild and outside of this community.

Left: Blue PCB w/ thick traces
Middle: Green PCB
Right: Blue PCB w/ thin traces

It took me a long time to hunt these 3 rare variants of Exactras, but I certainly learned a lot about small tells and differences between all of them.
Not sure if I'm ready to publish these findings yet,
BUT I'm fairly certain I know which exact one was used for ANH Vader V2 from non-photographical evidences.

That said, I have more than enough red LEDs.
So from now on, I'm going to help other people find theirs.

Excellent stuff, I'm looking for one of these in the wild too! [emoji6]

Happy holidays to everyone :)
I recently visited SW Identities Exhibition in Tokyo to check out some authentic props, costumes, droids, models, and concept arts.

This exhibit is filled with amazing real prop treasures, and I recommend anyone to visit before it goes away until 2021 Lucas Museum.
I have over 300+ detailed pictures, but here are some highlights.

In summary, this exhibit was better than TROS.
Unfortunately, due to poor light condition and display complications, some pictures turned out not-so-good and grainy.

^ Original droids, ROTJ Boba, and stunt and hero stormtrooper helmets.
I even got to take pictures inside the helmets and found some neat signatures and interior details.

^Alien character maquette

^ TPM Jedi Comlink + 1:1 alien models + Jabba eyes and maquette

^ ROTJ Real Han in Carbonite & Slave Leia costume

^ESB Luke, Yoda puppet, and various pilot helmets

^ESB Han, Leia, Chewbacca, and a Rebel officer

^ Studio-scale ships. This was one of the most impressive displays. Pictures don't do this justice.

^ Anakin and Padme costumes. The metal ROTS hero hilt on the belt looked very similar to MR. It was probably the one shown to MR to replicate.
It's most likely chrome plated, but the surface also looked like polished aluminum.

^ The fallen Jedis and ROTJ Luke. I spent at least 30 minutes trying to analyze the ROTJ hero hilt.

^ROTJ Vader and Palpatine's wall mural. Again, I spent a good chunk of time trying to analyze the ROTJ MoM hilt on his belt. Due to dim display light and the fence surrounding the display, it was difficult to take good pics. But, the upper tube was distinctively shiny to my naked eyes.

These are just a few highlights of the exhibition, and I have a lot more detailed pictures of everything.
Let me know if anyone wants to see any prop pieces in close-up shots.

Congrats! You know what I’m looking for ;)

Email incoming!
I must preface that the Luke ROTJ hero display was NOT good.

Call me a conspiracy theorist, but the display was set up as if to prevent any good pictures from being taken.
The lighting was very dim and constantly changing between blue and red.
The display was surrounded by an alarmed fence (about 7-9ft distance from where I can stand)
AND the hilt was covered by both hands of the mannequin.

I even turned on my flash and leaned inside the fence, but the photos still turned out grainy.

BUT! I brought a binocular anticipating this issue, and I was able to see a lot of details with my own eyes, and I even took notes.

Another hero among us took notes on the hoth blaster and cleared a lot of things up.

Very excited to hear your observations

When I saw the exhibition with the Hoth blaster etc in Japan, I actually found better pics than I could have taken by searching online in Japanese (I can't speak Japanese) for the exhibition name etc and finding local press / internet articles with press photos (taken with no security fence or funky lighting in place).

edit: also social media hashtags sometimes yield results.

Are there any Japanese speaking / from Japan members on the RPF?

Such great photos! Post all you can, they're wonderful!
I'm (very slowly) working on a Godzilla Tusken Raider mask. Any good close ups of that one would be greatly appreciated.

So many great pictures in here. Thank you for sharing! Your Obi saber is just beautiful. Also, I never thought I'd be this interested in pictures of calculator innards :)

Interesting Gaffi stick - looks like the one in the Lightsaber roger christian video... no spikes, but a smooth rounded part around the cone
