PZ's SW Prop Collection - UPDATE: Authentic Symmetrical Hales Grenade - All Real Parts Obi-Wan Lightsaber

This has been a crazy week!
I ordered a regular good ol' Exactra 20, and it turns out NOT to be a regular one.
In fact,... a super rare Tan/Green Exactra 20 with Red LEDs!

*Due to the increased number of people trying to produce fake replicas, I am blurring the images here for everyone's protection.
In fact, there are some notable differences between the blue and green version to warrant this precaution.
If you really, really want to see clear images, just send me a pm.

Q: Just how rare is this?
A: Very very rare... there's only one other person who owns this variant.

Which means that only 2 known ones exist in this community.
I used to think Dustin's was a one-off prototype, but this discovery proves that there are more.

In addition to receiving this incredibly rare Exactra, I also saw the one-and-only...
Disney Emperor Bob Iger

Nothing much to show-off this week
Here are 4x Vintage Micro Precision Products (MPP) Microflash that I found this summer.

(Edit: I previously made a comment saying it was 'easy' to hunt MPPs)
My point was that so many MPPs are readily available these days and easier for us to find these in the wild.

it's not complicated if you have a lot of money. Do you realize what you are saying for people that have been looking for years to find a MPP? A MPP is not that easy to find and I'm not a bad hunter... I think you might be sending the wrong message. I'm happy for you that you have a nice collection and it's very nice to show it, maybe just don't be too much like it's easy. I already saw your message in the WTB section that you are willing to pay lots of money for something, it's just weird...

Anyways, thanks for sharing, I really like to see collections like that and the rest is just my opinion, do what you want with it ;)

I'm really sorry if I offended you or other collectors :( That was not my intention!
Yes I agree, it's easier to collect if you have the money, but a lot of these MPPs do not cost fortunes when looking at the right places.
But in more public auctions, they can certainly cost a lot more.

My intention was to just post some cool pictures of these rare parts for references.
MPPs really take lots of effort.

It's great, I love to see those real parts. I just felt there was a lot of bragging and that's personnaly not what I want to see. Again it's personal and I'm not even offended, I will just loose interest in your post if they are like that. Which is too bad because it's really cool pictures ;)

eethan Thanks for pointing it out.
I guess when I said "easy" my point was that so many MPPs were available recently and became easier to find.
I can count 3 for sale this past week alone, and 10+ the last few months.
Will make sure not to come off like that in the future (y)

Nice collection. I think i've resigned myself to just being an admirer of people's Obi-wan's and MPPs

Halliwax The far right shroud is a steel shroud from Roy, and all the vintage ones are aluminum.
My belief is that the steel shroud on ESB hero is custom made by the production.

Another day, another MPP!
Fresh out of the UK, received this beautiful vintage MPP Microflash unit with the 5x4 MPP camera.

Aside from the clamp and greeblies, the flash body itself is in remarkable pristine condition.
Considering the age of these flashes, I'm just amazed by its condition.
Not important (at all), but the serial number on this is '555' lol

The camera and the flash also came with some nice brochures that list cool info about MPPs.
(Feel free to enlarge the brochure picture and zoom-in)

The brochure says the reflector units are made of aluminum.
The way the reflectors are inter-connected to the shroud, I think it's possible they're referring to the shroud as well.

This takes away from the factory-made steel shroud theory...
But, I did notice some screws on the bulb release are made of aluminum, while some are made of steel.
The one pictured above is made of steel, and it's rusting, just like the real ESB hero prop.

Maybe the elusive steel shroud is a one-off from the production, or maybe it's an early MPP prototype thingy
We may never find out, but I'm counting on roygilsing to do another run of accurate steel shrouds ;)

russellsch Thank you! Indeed, I've been very lucky in multiple instances to gather these MPPs:)
But, I'm thinking about slowing down on MPPs and try focusing on other props as well

This week, I received these beauties from KR:
The Phantom Menace: Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon's lightsaber hilts

I know not many people here are big fans of the prequels,
But I always found the props in the prequels to be very eye-catching and cool.
These 2 hilts from Ep1 are no exceptions...

The machining quality on these are fantastic, and the accuracy is equally as good.
Even the copper emitter plate on Qui-Gon matches that on the real screen-used saber.

That said, I plan on making these EXTRA accurate by replacing some components with real-found parts
and painting / clear-coating some areas that need to be treated.

These were sold out within 20 minutes of being released, and I believe only 90 each were produced.
If you are looking for very accurate TPM hilts, I recommend picking these up soon.

Awesome! I received my Qui-Gon too but it's a present for my birthday and have to wait a bit more than a week to open it! I wanted one for a few years now and a few days are ok to wait ;)
I hope you'll document and show the result of your part swaping, that's interesting (y)
