Prometheus (Post-release)

Now there's some food for thought. Ridley Scott will re-cut and re-edit the original ALIEN when there was nothing wrong with it, but doesn't want to touch the hollowed mess of a film that is Prometheus?

I know the linked articles make a point that there probably isn't much material that can fill in the plot holes, but there is material that can make character actions come off as less moronic! One scene in particular is the engineer being distracted by the girl playing the violin. I thought that was a clever way of showing how all the scientists missed the point of the flute earlier on and if they used music when awakening the engineer, maybe it wouldn't have gotten angry with them.

But like Alien3, no amount of good extended material would make me accept this film. Space Jockeys = Humans is something I just cannot accept.

Heck I've been discussing connections between the 2 films for 10+ years.

I figured everyone talked about connections between these two movies.

Aren't these screens used in Alien and Blade Runner?

I've always wanted a screen saver or wallpaper of those. lol

Is There A Connection Between BLADE RUNNER and PROMETHEUS?

I agree with above article, let it remain a easter Egg and nothing more. The article gives a good example why it may not really work due to the established timeline. Replicants are nothing new in the Blade Runner universe in 2019, while the Weyland's TED video which takes places few years after 2019 have the humanoid robots as some new breakthrough.

Just like they brought new revelations that Engineers in suits are Space Jockeys (also still not buying it), I would prefer they did not infuse new facts conflicting or changing the original BR universe by trying to connect it to the Alien universe. But I guess with the Blade Runner sequel that is bound to happen in some capacity.

Not that I want them to expand anymore on it but there is a difference between Replicants and Synthetics so they could go further with it if they wanted to and it could be plausible.

You're right, there is a difference between the two and they can expand on it if needed.

But if they were to share the same universe, it would seem bit odd that Synthetics didn't precede Replicants as I would guess Replicants are a more advanced form of humanoids.

Arent there about 50 connections between Blade Runner and Black Rain as well? Thats right, theres no connection there. And if you watch the movie Laviathan, you will see about ten seperate BR references and sound effects, how could I not put it all together sooner......Currency crime in the future....under water.:lol

So only the DVD, Digital Copy, Blu-Ray, and Blu-Ray 3D set will have the deleted scenes and extras, correct?

Is any place going to have a special pack-in or anything?

Targets will come with a booklet of material from The Art of Promethius.

I really like this design for an egg chamber. Maybe we'll get to see it in a film someday.

We did.. it was in Alien.

I think they really missed out by not showing that side of the Engineers. The final film showed them as nothing more than vicious bad guys, but that scene with the Engineer in the pod would have showed a scientist's curiosity, and a hint of cultural depth in appreciation of the human music.. that they're more than just monsters. I really hope they explore this more in the sequel. The Engineers deserve better than to be just plain evil.

I'm set, then.. I already have the Art of the Film book, so the Target exclusive means nothing. I'll go with my original plan of picking it up at Best Buy on the way home tomorrow (3D 4-disc version).

I don't know what to watch first.. the film or the features! <--- First world problems.
