Found some time to work on the Probe Droid. Managed to more or less have the mid section complete.

I changed the way the armature worked bit by using a flange bearing to lock down the head to the body.
Access hatch via the top cover allows me to loosen the grub screws to disassemble head from the body.

Bottom of the skirt is done as well, just have to attach the kit parts. The Leg discs were machined and there removable
for transport as well. The Aluminium rods rotate inside the mounted discs.

Next chance I get I'll start on the head.

Cheers :cheers
Rob

If by some time you mean the last 5
Months then I can see the results.Lol
Seeing what Rob has done is mind blowing!
If this is not Acurate it's because Rob can't hold the kit part steady while glueing it, cause as far as Acuracy goes , this will be it for now IMHO.
The probe has many details that I have not seen researched before.

So I see the leg discs look right and awesome !!
I hadn't seen how far you were up to till now

Sheezzzz 5 Months, But 4 and a half of those months was spent drawing up plans or starring at photos. Plus the odd beer every now and again :cheers
Yer the legs discs came out mint, You done a top job on em:thumbsup

And your a hard one to Amaze!!!:lol
Did you get my email regarding the parts for the PD and ATAT?

Yep! I've been on the phone/away from the house all day, so I'll get a proper email off to you later today :)

Also waiting to hear from my guy about the thing, LOL...

As far as being amazed, when you see damn fine work, it demands attention - and this is some damn fine work!!

Need some help, I want to do a test cut of the Sat V Eye but I don't want to use a part of the rocket that could be used on another model at a later stage. Is there a part that isn't used on any SS Models?

You lost me mate, Yellow?
I only have Black base and the rocket is white.
If you mean the Black Base then I guess I'll grit my teeth and take the dremel to it

I suppose I could grab a current version kit to do the test on. The main body is still the same as the vintage ones dimensionally I think?

I haven't posted in ages about my probe progress but I have sent some out in emails.
Been working on this extensively with rob( dsp5500)
Since the start of the year.
Kits were always going to be Id eventually so that's no secret anymore but should give the credit to the past guys who spent time doing the initial work,
But the assembly, cutting the correct parts and how to do it is a totally different ball game.
Rob has done some amazing work dissecting this and together I think we managed to correctly place and use correct parts.
Along the way we decided on different internals which make both builds very unique but at all times keeping the probe very very Acurate.
I went with the electronic style build.....

Mars you have taken this to another level, And yes I forgot about your base will send it tomorrow if I can.

Starting to look a little something like the Probe Droid now, I better get off my arse and catch up:thumbsup

Here's were Im up to today, Should have all the eye's on by end of week. Then armour plating, some kit parts and then onto the legs.
Also reworked the gun a bit and have the parts for the underside ready to be attached. Im just waiting on a paint order so i can spray a flat black on the sensor eyes and then a 2 part polyurethane clear coat to give it a deep gloss. I tried it out on the LED's and I like the effect. Also modelled and grew the hinge attachments for the pistons on the legs, They have a handy indent that the brass tubing slots into for easier attachment. These are the same ones that Jason posted here. http://www.therpf.com/f10/styrene-probe-droid-jasons-build-158844/#post2943814

Thanks Dave and Lloyd!
No probs on the base, I should post a pic of your base to show other guys what can be done with it should they want to go that way.

Rob that is very clean and very Acurate.
I did go back and round of my neck as you did.
I think it is totally worth the effort .
Mars

Those parts you modeled are going to make the model shine. I am so excited that this tech is adding to the refinement of these builds.

Thanks Jason, Yer they certainly help in making a quality model.

Ive had a few requests for the parts Ive modelled for the Probe Droid so Ive set up a store front on shape ways.
All thats up there for now are the parts needed to make the Probe Droid Gun and the Hinges for the pistons on the leg.
You can get away with using White Strong & Flexible material for the Gun Body, Gun Base and Hinges. There fine just a bit of cleanup to do.
The Upper Mount and Single Ring because of the thin walls need to be made in Frosted Detail at least. Of course the Frosted detail
will give the best results for all parts.

Robs Prop Parts by dsp5500 on Shapeways

There are two Gun Body's, One is designed to have a 5mm rectangle LED inserted into the barrel the other is just solid.
This was a custom request from Marcel but others may also be adding lights so it's up there.

Here's the breakdown of the Gun
