The flat top tank from Space 1999. I'm making this studio scale at 1/25, but I'll be changing the greeblies a little bit to make them look a bit more interesting and easier to print. I don't intend to make this one convertible to RC. It will be for display only, so the track will most likely be printed in resin and have different lengths of track segments to go around the wheels.

Continuing with greeblies. Some are very hard to identify of of the studio models, that I just fabricated something similar. I'm on the fence now, whether I'll resize it and slap the upper hull on a cheapo RC tank with the correct wheels, buy track and drive wheels for a 1/16 RC tank, or fabricate my own. The cockpit area is not at all similar to the studio model and has been totally redesigned.

I'm just about finished the design except for some greeblies under the dome and some sort of steering column for the seat. To be simple, I'd probably go for an F-16 style throttle on the left and a stick on the right.

There was always a question of how the pilot gets into the cockpit of all the laser tanks. One of them has a door on the back, but someone suggested that it was too small for an astronaut in his spacesuit to use that. So I took it upon myself to devise a door on the floor of the cockpit, where it could be boarded from underneath...similar to an auto mechanic's pit. This could be common to the other two tanks.

I also made a workable track. The pins would be 1/32" in diameter and the whole thing would be a PITA to print and put together, but WTH.

This helmet only seen in Star Trek The Motion Picture, mostly in Engineering in white, but Heritage Auctions had the orange firefighting one up for bid. The "jaw" will have to be reworked. In some screen captures, it doesn't seem like the roundness is a smooth transition, in others it is.
