Picard S3 Combadges

Hi All!
I'm looking to spray paint (rattle can) Picard S3 Combadges, both the dark and gold? plaque versions. I know the delta part is silver chrome but what colours should I use for the plaques?

I'm thinking the usual Gold for the end of series ones plaques, but looking at images of the darker ones used through S2 & S3 it looks charcoal in some images or a mid/ dark silver in others.
Thoughts?

I dont have an airbrush so rattle-can it is
