For all Patrick Stewart kept saying in interviews prior to the Picard solo show how he didnt want to do a retread of TNG and now halfway through another terrible season which hasn't even finished they're trying to bait fans.
Seriously modern Trek has become more of a parody than Galaxy Quest.
GALAXY QUEST was made by people who love and understand STAR TREK.
THE ORVILLE is made by people who love and understand STAR TREK.
Since 2009, STAR TREK has been made by people who do not love or understand STAR TREK.
….yeah, the question is, do we WANT these writers and producers getting anywhere near the rest of the TNG characters?

If it makes you feel any better, remember that's not a Starfleet Tricorder, it's Confederation issue. I don't think we saw a Starfleet tricorder in the first episode. Not that they wouldn't totally use the same trick for Starfleet, but for the time being they haven't yet.
Agreed and I love both Galaxy Quest and can't wait for series 3 of The Orville (got the physical media to support them both) but Star Trek has become a self referrential, easter egg fuelled parody above and beyond the loving, well crafted dedication to Star Trek that is Galaxy Quest.
I’m glad to see that the future timeline has been restored by Golem Picard being able to give deceased Picard’s ancestor a rambling 5 minute “pep talk” to move past her mental trauma.
I’m also confused …Golem Picard is supposed to have an android body in this reality too (Q said Gul Dukat was responsible for it)…
But, when he was hit by a car, he produced blood out of his mouth, nearly died, and also produced vital signs.
Oh yeah, and the “past mental trauma” he downloaded from deceased Picard has placed his golem body into a coma?
Shouldn’t his guts look like this?
If Data was hit by a car, he would have simply gotten up and just shaken it off.
I also think these show runners are going to try to tie Dr. Soong, the mad geneticist, to Khan Noonien Singh…just waiting for that shoe to drop.

No, he shouldn't look like that. No one was paying attention when they explained what Altan Soong was doing in Season 1. Picard is an organic android. He was grown in a vat, but from a set of plans, not a cell dividing on it's own. His organic brain structure is based on positronic technology. This was the big breakthrough because you can't just scan someone with a replicator and make a copy, you just end up with a dead body. The other breakthrough being the mind transfer process. These Organic synths are close enough to human that they can be constructed to fool bio-scans, but still have enhancements, or in Picard's case, no enhancements at all, he was specificaly made to age and die normally. There are some small differances that pop up occasonally, as seen when the defib machine malfuctioned.
We know from Discovery that this process doesn't have a great success rate, and did not lead to everyone deciding to become androids.
That said, this is Confederation Picard's body, and we have no info on how he got it, but it's clearly very similar tech. We know Dukat was involved somehow, perhaps that's why he's still old and doesn't have superpowers here.

They're just dumb enough to make that connection.
Wait for it….
He will flee to India and change his name to Noonien Singh and create a child named Khan in the last few scenes of the finale.
