Pep to Molded Plastics War Machine,Gatling Gun,Stronger Mount and Other WM Weaponry!

Re: Pep to Molded Plastics War Machine,Gatling Gun,Stronger Mount and Other WM Weapon

Is your suit going to look like brand new paint job, because is too smooth to wear battle damage lol :)

Since it is going to be the black and dove gray, I am going to start it out new and let it accumulate its own damage then accent it with the dry brushing. I know it wont last long in pristine condition so why not roll with it, but I'm not going to rush it.....unless I have a lot to hide LOL!:darnkids

Almost finished glassing and rondoing the interior of the torso....
Has great success mixing 1/2 kitten hair bondo with 1/2 regular bondo, then equal volume of resin....made super strengthe rondo!

Pictures to come...bondoing the torso starting hopefully this weekend!:)

Re: Pep to Molded Plastics War Machine,Gatling Gun,Stronger Mount and Other WM Weapon

Nice work. That shoulder is a pretty complex shape to get right, and the chest is looking pretty sweet too! Post some more pictures when you get a chance. :popcorn

Re: Pep to Molded Plastics War Machine,Gatling Gun,Stronger Mount and Other WM Weapon

OK! Wow a few days that went as planned!!! Got the torso glassed with fiberglass mat and resin, then added a coat of rondo.
The rondo is my special concoction of 33 1/3% Bondo with kitty hair, 33 1/3%regular Bondo and 33 1/3% Resin.. Hardens up nice and slow and feels like a piece of metal!:cool I call it tada!! 33 1/3 Rondo LOL!:facepalm:behave:rolleyes

And joy of joy only 4 months behind schedule the first bondo is going on!!!:)

I am really amazed at how straight the torso is over all, but really surprised at what collapsed or warped. :unsure
Some of the strongest seams buckled and the thinnest panels stayed true...wierd:confused
There is nothing that cant be fixed and I am giving serious thought to cutting out some of the panels that are too warped.
I saw Masked Rider do that on his clay mold for War Machine and DFX13 is using this to great success on his carboard to Sintra/Celtec build.
I really like how the use of the plastic sheet really gives that sharp edge and flat panels.:love

That's it for now...Hope to get a ton done this weekend so that I can mount the football shoulder pads that will form the undersupport for the whole suit as well as forming the foundation of the gatling gun mount... The shoulder pads will also act as a base for the shoulder bells.:thumbsup

Re: Pep to Molded Plastics War Machine,Gatling Gun,Stronger Mount and Other WM Weapon

At least you started bondo....im not even close

Re: Pep to Molded Plastics War Machine,Gatling Gun,Stronger Mount and Other WM Weapon

Next installment...Trial fit of torso, neck and helmet.:)

Everything is sitting a little off kilter as there are no pads, straps or buckles yet. Lower section of helmet is off as well...I was too excited to mess with it.:$:rolleyes

So far so good.:cool

Re: Pep to Molded Plastics War Machine,Gatling Gun,Stronger Mount and Other WM Weapon

Wow , your War machine looks awesome already , also need to start now . How is the weight so far ? Never build a suit before , so it would be just interesting how much weight the whole thing will get when it is finished ?

Re: Pep to Molded Plastics War Machine,Gatling Gun,Stronger Mount and Other WM Weapon

Thank you Markus!
It is Heavy LOL! But only when you compare it to the original pepakura, It is about 9 lbs for the torso so far. I hope to build the whole suit then recast it in plastic to lighten it up. On the plus side, the torso being so heavy will act as a great foundation for the gatling gun. With actual spinning barrel, robotic arm, fire control with actual noise it will need it!
Be sure to keep me posted on your work Markus, can't wait to see it!

Thanks to TheRealStark for his wonderful Unibeam and repulsors for my War Machine build!!

http://www.therpf.com/f13/surreal-studios-iron-man-unibeam-real-stark-141877/

What good would I be if I didn't at least test fit the Unibeam immediately even though the torso is just in glass right now???:confused

Here is a picture;

And how about a small video? Thanks to my daughter for helping me film while I scrolled through the multiple cool modes this unibeam has!:cool

This is too cool for words! Thanks Ryan you are the coolest!:)

Nice job. Looks great!!!!

Re: Pep to Molded Plastics War Machine,Gatling Gun,Stronger Mount and Other WM Weapon

Thanks! Making progress a tiny bit st a time! Bondoing the torso and going to pep the hips and and codpiece during the next cold snap! Going to use surreal pep/sculpt technique hopefully I will do master surreal justice!

Re: Pep to Molded Plastics War Machine,Gatling Gun,Stronger Mount and Other WM Weapon

I really needed a break from the Bondo so I played with my new repulsors..
TheRealStark repulsors are a very cool and very neat package and I wanted to mount them in something solid so they were protected when I place them in my glove. Here is my solution.

This first is a small movie file, just click on the picture;:popcorn

This shows the housing from the rear.. I think a little silicon adhesive will hold the lens and the chipset nicely.

I may have to thin the housing a few mm's but wont know until my gloves are assembled...

The suit up is looking so cool :)

Re: Pep to Molded Plastics War Machine,Gatling Gun,Stronger Mount and Other WM Weapon

Looking great! I've been following your build for some time now <_<

Re: Pep to Molded Plastics War Machine,Gatling Gun,Stronger Mount and Other WM Weapon

Looking good..send me a few..lol

Re: Pep to Molded Plastics War Machine,Gatling Gun,Stronger Mount and Other WM Weapon

Well. it's been awhile. I am still working on the torso...making some progress. Bondo/filling the torso feels alot like raking sand pits on a golf course... :confused see a hole fill it, sand it... see it is still not filled, add more sand....see it is STILL low and more sand. *sigh* it is getting there though.:)
I'll post pics when Im a little closer!

Well, I've been working on the torso and decided to start cutting out some of the panels and replacing them with Cintra and Norflex. I really want the panels flat, smooth and straight so here are a few pictures.:popcorn
Photobucket is not uploading so here are some smaller pictures.:cry

I am very happy with how this will look! I am not planning on doing the whole torso, only selected panels and the lower edges as these need a more plated look.:love

Re: Pep to Molded Plastics War Machine,Gatling Gun,Stronger Mount and Other WM Weapon

Since I am in cleanup and bondo on the torso, I made a lower torso/upper thigh mannequin so I have a place to build the codpiece and abs onto. Thanks for the great idea Surreal. I intend to do pep, cut it apart rebuild it on the mannequin then finish with sculpt... I love Monster Clay!!!
http://www.monstermakers.com/product/monster-clay-premium-grade-html
Did the duct tape and expanding foam method to get a near duplicate of my nethers.
Learned three things...
1) I really am alot thicker than I thought....:$
2) I built the torso the right size and should have plenty of room too fit the abs underneath....(y)thumbsup
3) I need to remember NOT to build the abs right onto the mannequin as I will need breathing room and room for wires, straps and air flow!! :confused

Re: Pep to Molded Plastics War Machine,Gatling Gun,Stronger Mount and Other WM Weapon

This is a great build
