I began this project in January, with the goal of recreating the look of the original prop M40 box that sold at auction.
Here is a link to my original build thread, I have made a few boxes for members by request since then, and have worked to fine tune my painting and weathering technique. I wanted to begin an official interest thread for painted and weathered boxes, and also vinyl cut decals and painting templates for making your own.
Painted and weathered M40 boxes
Completed boxes are made from the currently available casegard 12 ga shotgun cases. These are slightly larger than the vintage cases so I have scaled the lettering and weathering up to match. The boxes are sanded on top to reduce the heavy raised letters of the new style boxes and are painted in a multi layer process of base color, chipping and scratches, top coat, and weathering.
$75 ea. plus shipping.
Shipping is $6.50, in the U.S. For international orders PM me for a shipping quote before sending payment(it has typically been between $20-30). I will combine shipping if you order more than one.

Vinyl Lettering decals
If you would like to make your own box I am offering decals with the proper font, spacing and scale for both original and newer casegard boxes. Decals are made from Matte vinyl but can be glossy instead upon request.
“Chipped” Vinyl lettering decals $15 per set. These are based on the weathered box with chips and scratches made into the letters.
“Clean” Vinyl lettering decals $15 per set. These have no chips or scratches in the letters.(I’ll post a picture soon)
Painting templates
If you would like to paint on your letters rather than use decals, I also have painting templates. I will offer a template for the lettering, made from clear vinyl to aid proper placement, and a separate template for the chips and scratches.
$15ea. or $25 for both.
Both the vinyl decals and painting templates will be unlimited runs.
Shipping is $6.50 via UPS, in the U.S. For international orders PM me for a shipping quote before sending payment(it has typically been between $20-30). I will combine shipping if you order more than one item.
