Origins of this Stormtrooper Bucket? Anyone Know?

I picked this stormtrooper helmet up in a trade and was wondering if anyone might know the origins of it? I know it is from 1977 and there is a 20th century fox logo embossed into it. Along with the markings shown. The paintjob was stripped as the previous owner did a horrible job on it!

Any ideas?

Yup its a Don Post.

It made the rounds of EBAY for the longest time because whoever carved the 20th Century Fox into it tried to pass it off as a screenused helmet.

:lol I remember how excited I was when I got one what over 30 years ago! :lol

Ok now I guess I need to figure out what to do for those open ear ports. Any suggestions? Were there parts that went there, does anyone know?

The ear ports were covered with circles of gray foam. The forehead strip was just a piece of foam rubber weatherstripping.

I remember seeing one of those in a costume shop 30 years ago. I would have given my right arm to have it lol.

I noticed a decent explanation here under Don Post. The rough looking 20thCF engraving is familiar.

I too remember the ears being covered by very thin, charcoal gray foam discs. Although those might have been for later versions since you obviously have some holes there.

The 20 cent fox logo looks to be the same quality as on mine. bad. I believe the holes were cut by somebody as mine has no holes in it, just stickers for the frown, and yes there should be a grey foam disk over the ears. Its obvious someone tried to "upgrade" this helmet.

I am not 100% certain (as mine is in storage) but i think the brow "trim" was part of the helmet, it looks as though someone sanded it off.

Rock on

The first ones that came out had no foam disk over the ears and the frown was cut out.

Later versions had the foam over the ears and the sticker for the frown.
