Optimus Prime ion blaster built !! (new update !)

Nooooo, that is every builders nightmare. Great idea with breaking it down into parts, it'll be much easier to make seperate molds. Have you decided on a molding method? Roto-cast or using a solid mold with a cavity piece?

The built is amazing:D I want one!.. Any room in the back for LEDs?

I will most likely be roto-casting with urethane resin I think, still researching that since i'm inexperienced with molds and casting. The rear part is hollow, but hard to get in to with the gun assembled, i'm gonna try to put lights and sound in my first good casting. Thanks for posting !

depending on the final price , I would like to have one ! this is an amazing Prime blaster !

I havent seen many roto-cast guns before, but due to the size of yours i think it would be WAY cheaper to do that than make walled molds. All depends on how many you want to make.

Wish i lived in the states, I want to get a casting and put in barrel and rear lights hooked up to the trigger.

wow, painted is a true masterpiece. You should post this at TFW2005.

Depending on price if you ever plan on making copies, I would want one. Keep us updated

Whew

Lucky with that one. I've dropped so many projects a swore I heard Darth Vader behind me yelling NNNOOOOOOO!!!!!

Due to the enormous (to me) cost of making a mold of this thing, this project has been on the back burner for a few months now, but I still want to try molding it. It seems that I would be spending at least $300 in supplies just to get started. I just haven't had the nerve to drop that kind of money on my first major casting project. which has a decent chance of getting screwed up the first time. My thoughts were making a 2 part silicone brush on mold with an expanding foam/fiberglass mothermold and slush casting it. With tax season coming up I want to continue with this project and would appreciate any feedback from experienced mold makers ! Thanks !

this build is so cool. i love the G1 transformers and to see somthing like this come to life and so well done too. wicked!

Thanks guys, really appreciated ! There definately seems to be enough interest in it, I just want to make sure I do a good job.

How did I not see this build sooner??????? Awesome, awesome work. This thing would be awesome to lug around at a convention!!!!!!!!!!

"What's That???????"

"Oh nothing.... just..... OPTIMUS PRIME'S CANNON!!!!!!!" :lol

Anyway, great work, and I look forward to seeing more progress.
