Old School Colony Transport

I thought I'd share a couple of pictures with the lights turned on. I will need to place the diffusion material as well as add the windows to make it look correct. It still has quite a bit to go but it's getting there! In the second picture, you can also see the radiation shielding I created in Tinkercad and 3d printed. It is the honeycomb texture that is applied to the back.

I thought I'd share a couple update photos. I have added some paneling and "shocks" that go from the main structure of the ship to the bearing structures that the cylinders are mounted in. I also used my Silhouette Cameo 4 to create some scale panels in .020 styrene to laminate onto the structure of the ship to add depth once it's painted. I'm curious to see how the paneling will turn out once it's all painted and weathered.

In this picture, you can see one of the mini shuttle craft on the top. I created a shuttle hanger on the top. There will be a couple of hangers located around the vessel as well. I have some more work to do with paneling and seam hiding. Then on to some very fine piping. Hoping to get first coat of primer this weekend!

This is the paneling I created on the .020 styrene. You can see the tip of my thumb in the bottom left for scale. Hoping for the best on this technique!

Looking good.
Did you ever try to cut .04" styrene on the Cameo, or did I miss it?
Hey Carl... My apologies. I got busy doing the stuff on this ship and haven't run any tests with the .040 yet. I'll be sitting down to work on the ship tonight so I'll do some tests with cutting some strips on the .040 tonight. Do you have any requests for what types of shapes you'd like to see cut/scored? I'll post the results to the thread I made about the Silhouette.

I'm hoping to have the actual physical build of the ship structure done in the next few days and on to the painting of the beast. I have also started to add some mini detail bits. One of the things I am trying to remember as I'm doing all of this is to use smaller scale bits so I don't ruin the appearance of scale for the ship. I also picked up some cheap plastic plates from the dollar store. They are made from styrene and they appear to be in the .005 to .010 thickness range. I will have small panel bits with that also on the ship to add more depth to the skin. The larger blank area in this picture shows an area that is on each of the pod sections and will have airbrushed text that will say something like POD A or something similar. Each section is a habitation module.

Phew... I'm finally done with this beast! The video of the build will be out in a couple of days as well. Here are a few pics of the completed ship. I hope you all enjoy them and thank you so much for all your kind words and following along with the build. I'll be heading back to Michigan for Christmas then on to the space based dry dock vessel when I get back
