Hey bud, those look great. I am glad you like them and they got there okay.

I'm still looking for metal replacement parts for the 23rd Century Phaser. I've got a trigger and thumbwheel.

I've also got a modded handle.

Got it here.

here's some movie items with a classic twist :D

thanks for hosting wacky c :)

Cool. Those are funky, Wolf. I don't recognize them. Are they customs or are they from a show I obviously didn't pay enough attention to?

(Edited for clarity)

hiya X ... those are all custom. the top two photos are a 'search for spock' phaser and an old walkie-talkie communicator with a classic trek touch added to them.
the bottom photo is a combat phaser with the butt-end cut off and repositioned to give it a compact / phase pistol look.
glad you like 'em :D

Hello
I was the original propmaker on Star Trek TNG Phaser and I do see a difference in what I built and what is pictured on this tread. I made left handed pistols and right handed ones. They were identical except for the textured detail and direction of the grips. It's nice to see people out there who have lots of time to build something like this. I had only two week to build 12 guns that lit up. Those were good times back then.

Don't forget the "Star Trekulator"... for when you need to Trekulate.

Spock says "trekulating can make you go blind and give you hairy palms, Captain."

:D

These phasers are hazardous to my health as a married man with a weakness for props . Awesome guys .

Hi Rick. So you worked on TNG, huh? Awesome. Thanks for your fine work. TNG is definitely my favorite of the "post TOS" Trek series. :D

Since you mention the grip direction, I'm assuming you worked on the "cobra head" version of the phaser, introduced in the third season.

I'm told that every season from then till the end of the series, had slight differences in the phaser design (tho they were all "cobra" designs).

Somewhere in this thread I mentioned I had a screen used Assault Phaser from ST5.

Here it is. And while I had the camera going I did some detail shots comparing the Wakal phaser kit.

The question now is raised is the Wakal Phaser a fan made version or were there different Assault Phasers.

And compared to metal upgrades sold here.

This is in no way a condemnation of the Wakal phaser it is a terrific casting in it's own right.

Still need metal parts, for my 23rd Century kit.

I've got:
*the thumb wheel.
*Brass pin

Just ordered:
*dial
*fins

Would also love a light kit or a cheap way to add cheap & simple light.

Here is another AA Phaser I had modified, but with a different paint scheme. Enjoy.

well, I didn't read this whole topic since it's grown to about 18 pages, but you guys know your phasers. I love the Art Asylum version (for the quality and price). Anyone know if they ever plan on doing a TNG or cobra phaser?

Man, I just love seeing all these phasers. Has anyone made a replica of the squashed phaser from 'Space Seed', or the melted phaser from 'Who Mourns for Adonais?'
<div align="right">

OH man, those bring some memories. Jimbo, I too had that TOS phaser that projected the silhouettes on the wall. Man, I wish I could find one of those again. It's been so long, so don't even know if it was remotely accurate, but I do remember that night I bought it, a huge fog rolled in, and the "flashlight" projected this beam that went forever. I thought that was the coolest thing I had ever seen. It was the closest thing to a real phaser I had ever seen. :lol

Nope it was not accurate but it was pretty close to this little kid's heart. I used to play with that phaser in the fog also. What fun that toy was.

Oh I agree, at the time (mid-90s), I was very excited to get a Playmates TOS phaser. :D

Then I discovered Rich Coyle's site, and then RPF and ASAP... and discovered what I had been missing. :lol

The AA wipes the floor with the Playmates tho... the Playmates' P1 isn't even removable. :rolleyes

Playmates is, let's say, the "dummy phaser" of toys.

Mego's accessory toys ALL sucked, the blue communicators, the "tape deck" tricorder... I was actually a kid at the time AND loved Star Trek AND saw the Mego toys AT THE STORE and passed them up, they were so bad. :lol

And then, there's this monstrosity. :$

Well I loved all of the toys. I didn't care if they looked the part or not. It was good to play with and that is all I cared about.

Zaphod, where did you order fins from, if I may ask?

I'm on the lookout for fins and the angled plate over the front of the P2, whatever we'd call that...

The center plug thing on the bottom of the handle, is that standard hardware store fare? What is that, and is there a size/measurement, etc.? I'm going to add the bottom plate to my 23C grip - is there a recommended size for the 2 brass screws?

Here is a phaser I built I got this for helping on the run Rich did for Rod.com

I have more pics to post I'm uploading my Trek props pic and will post more over the next two days.

Do you mean the very first "dustbuster" type?

I loved the LED trick on those (cycling up and down) Looked great.

My favorite TOS phaser right now is the Roddenberry.com one made by HMS. Very nicely done. Of course, I never had an MR to compare it to and I'm sure as heck not getting one at the prices they go for on eBay now.
