Limited Run Oblivion Movie Rifle - Second Run Capped!

Re: Oblivion Movie Rifle

If it's possible to make add-ons to the Airsoft rifle without making any major mods, that might be something to consider.
That or buy an Airsoft ACR and taske a cast of the lower receiver, build up the other parts around it, then do a full cast once it's pieces together?

If you look on IMFDB is says:
"Jack Harper (Tom Cruise) carries a dressed up Bushmaster ACR throughout the film. The rifle has a shell attached to it that surrounds the stock and upper receiver to make it appear more futuristic, and the base-rifle is always seen loaded with 10 round magazines. It has an Oveready/TorchLAB weaponlight above the barrel, integrated inside the shell. Harper always carries the rifle on a custom white Magpul MS-3 sling."

Here's one one of the airsoft ACRs

I read on AR15.com it has a Vortex flash hider

I'd be interested... depending on price. But if given the choice between the rifle and the sidearm/pistol, I'd want the pistol first.

Thanks for the info Father! (that feels weird, your not my father!:)) I've been asked about the pistol as well, but I figured since I started on this, I should work on the rifle first. I think Art started a pistol thread, maybe I'll chime in on that one once I get this going farther along. Speaking of which, here is the blueprint I made, any comments or changes? I admit new reference is surfacing all the time, so I may modify as I find it. (like the magazine info, thanks again!)

Re: Oblivion Movie Rifle

I'm really interested in a kit, pending price as I would imagine shipping to UK won't be cheap :-(

Re: Oblivion Movie Rifle

Nice work.
I'll have a better idea of my level of commitment once I know how it's going to be assembled and priced and a time frame. :)
I would say at this point I'm interested.

Re: Oblivion Movie Rifle

Hey everybody. Newbie to the forums, so I'll go ahead and say Hi here. Member of the 501st, with a completed Tie Pilot costume. Working on my Vader and Biker Scout, though as with all costuming I'm having to learn patience and go slow, as I'm not much of a seamstress, etc. I need TONS of help!!! ;)

Love the thread. I really enjoyed the movie, and while the jacket it was really interests me to get a costume started... the rifle would obviously be awesome as well. Count me in, and I'd love to get one if you guys get a kit together or ?

Gonna go look for more posts about the jacket, but gonna make sure I subscribe to this thread. Love the work and the interest! Keep it up!!!

Re: Oblivion Movie Rifle

Hey everyone, was sidetracked by my other projects, but I haven't been idle. I promise an update later today!

Re: Oblivion Movie Rifle

Hey dr_slurpee, no not Aspire, I use a program called ArtCam, it's sort of an all in one thing that lets me draw CAD vectors, build 2D "reliefs" and then create tool-paths to output to my CNC cutter.

Sorry for the blurry photo, moving too fast this morning, lots to accomplish!

Re: Oblivion Movie Rifle

UPDATE!

I almost done with replicating the handle I should have bought :facepalm

Fire Select by malsfantasyfactory, on Flickr

Fire Select
Because of the limited size of my CNC cutter I had to break apart the body of the handle. The rear part of that is the fire select area, This 2d model represents my first idea of permanently attaching the fire select nobs. I have since built them as separate pieces incase someone wants to install a switch inside the rifle.

Clip holder
these two sides are the clip ejectors of the rifle. The plan is to cut just the detail surfaces on the CNC. Then I cut a shape out of MDF to use as the center. please note the texture area is the same as the handle, this proves to the hours of very careful work in the computer. Also note the two sides are asymmetrical.

I realized I had to break the rifle down to multiple parts to make it easier for molding. The parts you see here are the stock release buttons and the clip ejectors. This is the peice that the CNC cut after I built the 2d model.

Thanks for looking. Next update should be of the fully assembled handle.

Re: Oblivion Movie Rifle

I would like to know if you could make the parts to add to the airsoft if you already have one

I would like to, but I don't have the gun, so I can only guess on interior measurements. If you have one and can get me some blueprints or measesments, I can certainly try. Now that I think about it, I thought someone else was trying for the 3D printed shell?
