Limited Run Oblivion Movie Rifle - Second Run Capped!

Re: Oblivion Movie Rifle

The A&k masada and the g&p/magpul are identical. The facts are that a&k built theirs first. Magpul/g&p Buy their guns from a&k. My informed opinion is that you should buy the A&K. It's the same body as the more expensive licensed version.

Do a search for the A&K Masada. It's the Chinese made Airsoft version and way less than the authentic Magpul model.

Re: Oblivion Movie Rifle

That info is incorrect, the flashlight was machined and assembled from scratch.

According to the Candle Power forums the torch is a Oveready, custom Moddoolar head with L1N/XPG engine, on a ZRS body/tail (one cell).

Re: Oblivion Movie Rifle

BadWolf turned me onto this one, it's probably the model I will get as soon as I can get cash.

I will look into the candlepower forum asap! Thank you all for the valuable info. I think a kit is the way to go just have to break it all down and figure out a good price point.

Re: Oblivion Movie Rifle

Well both of you seem to be right, when I checked the candlepower forum I found the OVEREADY site, so yes, it was from the same company, just a custom model for the movie. There's the MODDOOLAR POCKET SLIM on the site, that was the one I want to get for my kit, but it's quite pricey. Seems everything about this rifle is expensive, except for my kit? :lol we'll see...

Re: Oblivion Movie Rifle

Well then, looks like I was lied too. HA! I didn't seee a makers mark when I was working on the guns.

Re: Oblivion Movie Rifle

Have been looking at a lot of the Masada airsoft guns to compare against screen used - the Magpul seems to have the charging handle in the wrong place

Re: Oblivion Movie Rifle

If you're referring to the lever on the left front if the rifle, you are correct. They definitely moved it closer to the barrel.

Re: Oblivion Movie Rifle

I can't wait for the rifle kit. I'm also really hoping someone here does a good sized kit of the drone from e movie!

Wrong info, the butt stocks are totally different the G&P comes with a fixed stock and the A&K comes with the folding stock...I have owned both of them lol

Re: Oblivion Movie Rifle

Speaking from a gun-owner standpoint: the base rifle is the MASADA (original design Magpul) but was marketed as the ACR by Bushmaster with an AAC Blackout flash hider.

Like others have said, the flashlight is a custom mount that sits where the gas system regulator and piston sit.

Other than that, the custom parts, that are not part of the original gun, are the stock and the optic.

Re: Oblivion Movie Rifle

The info just keeps rolling in! Awesome! I really appreciate everyone's input. I will be posting progress pics as soon as I can get started, lol. I'm waiting on some cash to buy the Masada, as soon as that happens things should start moving right along. (Fingers crossed)

Actually, there are quite a few differences between the different available airsofts. The A&K is not accurate enough i.m.o. as the cocking lever is in the wrong position. Another difference is the magwell on the newer "AK" Magpuls, which is all wrong. There are also a few smaller, subtle details that are off on many available models as well.

With the torch, you're possibly looking at over $800 in base parts alone... and you still need a scope! It' s not a cheap build if you want accuracy.

If you're doing a master for resin casting, why not just track down the lower receiver, which is available separately and is the only crucial visible part.

Re: Oblivion Movie Rifle

I'm starting the major work today or tomorrow depending on rain, I'm thinking the price will have to be cheaper then the actual airsoft gun and flashlight combo. ($300 - $400 range?) There is another thread on making a 3D printed shell for the airsoft, so between the two of us, there should be an affordable version for everyone. Lets hear from the people, what is a good price for this? I'll see if I can make it for that.

Sorry about the double post, Joatrash is right, I'm actually building the lower receiver from scratch, but thanks for the idea, it got me past the $300 dollar hump.
