IMPORTANT UPDATE

I have recieved permission by the photographer of the grenade pictures to use his images.

I have added his credit to the picture.

PLEASE, PLEASE go back and re-save the images with the correct photo credit. The file name is the same and if you save in the same folder it will erase the old one and save the new version.

That way if this picture is brought up again it will have the full proper photo credit.

Thanks for the rehost
I have to say though from those pictures the granade is not the same as the granade on the romans kit.

Great Collage James.

Do I need to join Rapidshare to download the larger image Kalkamel?

Thanks for sharing folks.

JK,

Thanks for taking the time to put the parts breakdown together. It's well thought out, nicely arranged and easy to understandl :thumbsup

Grouch - :$ EDITED-per Serafino's observation :$ Since many of the components of the grenade were not used (or not seen) on the prop, the replica versions will look somewhat different. The Roman's grenade that I have replicates the body (the grip), the neck (connecting grip to emitter), and the windvane. All the rest of the parts i.e. the rod, the clip, the pin, for the most part, are not needed.

Thanks guys. I actually made the picture for my father-in-law, because last week at my daughters birthday party we had over at our house he took an interest in my Saber collection. He's a antique-old car-old plane-old mechanical kinda guy.

The version I emailed him had lines connecting the parts:

Vaderman, you don't need to join rapidshare. Just select the free download option and you're set.

Grouch - The pair of grenades shown in the lower right, I believe, are examples of the symmetrical (top) and asymmetrical (bottom) versions of the No.3. Since many of the components of the grenade were not used (or not seen) on the prop, the replica versions will look somewhat different. The Roman's grenade that I have replicates the body (the grip), the neck (connecting grip to emitter), and the windvane. All the rest of the parts i.e. the rod, the clip, the pin, for the most part, are not needed.

none of those peices are what I'm talking about. Romans has little creases near at the very top of the grip of the grenade. These grenade's dont have that crease

It's not meant to show the exact parts used, but what the parts are.....where they came from.

I have held an Obi-Wan ANH saber in my hands and explained all the parts to someone and seen in their eyes that they almost understand but not completely, especially with the booster and grenade.

It' easier to 'see' what you're talking about when you can see the grenade in it's original configuration sticking out of a gun barrel..........see the booster on the end of an aircraft machine gun.......see the emitter on a jet engine........

Apparently, you've never engaged him in a multi-page discussion about the grenades and their manufacturing techniques.

Go on, PM him and ask him everything and anything you ever wanted to know about the grenades - I dare ya :lol

Grouch--Gigatron doesn't mean that you're wrong so much as he means that he isn't ready to face another detailed analysis discussion on the question. ;)

You're right, Roman's grenade is not the same as the pictured ones. There is a huge variety of No. 3 Mk 1 grenades, Roman's are mostly based on an original he has or had, with the vane sleeve an exact match for Chen's replica, which was also based on an original.

The prop grenade is the holy grail of course. To date no one has exactly nailed it in the details. IMO to date the Chen (no longer available) is the closest, but still leaves room for improvement.

JK--the photos of the grenades are from the inert-ord site. That guy has been very good to us so I hope you'll drop him a line to get permission to use those images.

ATL--they're both asymmetrical. :) Jediscout's is the only symmetrical one known aside from the prop.
