Non-Canon X-Wing Blue 2

Here is my current WIP: the fictional, non-canon X-wing Blue 2. You may remember my previous bird, Blue 3.

This one takes styling and decal cues from all the different birds.

Incidentally, this is the Fine Molds 1/48. I just can't get used to the smaller one. It's too small for me to mask and paint.

I've seen a lot of X-wing paint jobs, but for some reason this one stands out from the rest. Perhaps it's the colors you used. but I really like it.

I've always been of the mind that there were more X-Wings floating around than what we saw in the OT. I love new and interesting paint jobs. You did a great job.

Thanks a lot guys :)

Almost all the markings are masked & sprayed. I did use some of the provided decals under the nose, but I don't think they're visible in the photo. All of the chips were done via rubber cement. Occasionally 'enhanced' by an X-acto knife.

Here's the big joke: only one half of the fuselage is finished. Since it'll be in a display cabinet all it's life, one side to the back wall, I didn't bother with panels or decals on the other side. This is why I can never enter her in a contest :lol

... Still needs more decals...

I did a stealth X-Wing on a 1:72 Finemolds cause I wasn't happy with the original paint job I did........

That's wild.

Here's an update. I've managed to squeeze a few more decals on, mainly the engines, wings & cannons.

This also gives you a better shot of the lower fuselage.

I wanted to put some red dots on the cannons but I think I gave all my red dots to Nylon Gag. So they got more Harrier decals instead.

Big thanks to Moff Eaton for leaking a hero / pyro X-wing image I hadn't seen via Facebook. Inspirational!

And while I was looking for my red dot decals, I discovered a bunch of NASCAR decals I can use for my next model, a racing hovercraft from the game Wipeout. If I could only find my narrow masking tape, I could mask and paint the canopy.

Thanks for reading!
