Noland Suit Wip, --Suit Up Pics---- 95% Done!

Daman, let me be the first to say that I have NO DOUBT you are going to knock the armor sculpt out of the park!

With that, a couple of things are sticking out to me. Foremost, it appears the original is a vest and does not continue onto the shoulders. I would venture to guess this was done for movement. If you go along the collar from the centerline of the chest to where the vest armor ends (I am looking at the right side of the picture), it appears that there are five columns of plates radiating down and out, ending prior to the shoulder like a sleeveless t-shirt or vest. Now, this is just a suggestion, but if you are keeping to the picture, you may want to determine where that fifth column of tiles will be most comfortable for you to wear. that is, imagine you are fighting in battle and this were hammered metal, where would it HAVE to stop so that your arm could swing freely with maximum mobility yet maximum protection; this would be your maximum working line. Then, rework your columns back towards the centerline, maintaining the arcs radiating out from the neck in the same direction, making up the difference in the dimensions with the column of largest tiles. It would appear to me that your radiating arcs have flipped where the second row of giant tiles transitions to the smaller ones, columns 3 & 4 (From centerline). Your interior columns, from the largest tiles in towards the centerline, look great.

Aside from that, the monotony of the details is where the jamming music comes into play, but your attention to detail is where this is really going to kick this sculpt up a notch

Or you can tell me to piss off and continue, :)

Thanks Brad.

i see what you are saying. first it might be the angle of the pic. because the armour doesn't really go on top of the armatures shoulders.

see the next pic to see what i mean.

in the screen sculpt, the shoulder area you described has a smooth area too. i decided to continue the plates instead, personal choice.
and i see that i did flip the lines. weird, i didnt catch that.
that being said...
it doesn't really bother me. it still looks good.
and, i really don't go for total screen accuracy. i don't have the patience. :)
another thing is with latex shrinkage, this should fit my shoulders just fine.

ha, those hands sculpts made you have an eagle eye.

appreciate all of the crits man.

Again, awesome work. As for the latex vs resin for the armor, I honestly think resin would give it much more of a natural and authentic look and feel to it. From the picture, it doesn't look like it would obstruct any movement more than a latex version would. You have a nice sturdy torso armature that your working on too.

I'm really liking this build xdmray, kudos!!!

yeah im gonna go the latex route with this one.
1- save on expense of silicone.
2- mobility

although painting resin would be nicer... oh well.

i use monstermakers latex paint. add a drop or two of water and spray it.
i figured out a way to simulate a black wash (antiqueing) using latex paints on a dif mask.

thanks for the info, are you going to mold it or just leave it on the body and just put many coats of latex on it and peal the latex off (really freakin' hard to do) ?

i'll mold it in plaster. plaster is relatively cheap, so no biggie to throw some on it. although i am out of latex, so ill have to get a bucket of that at some point.
guess that means ill offer up some half masks then as well.

finally done with the chest armour sculpt and mold.

pretty happy with it, the molding process was one of the easiest ones i've done. that's nice for a change.
i have my latex ordered. i can't wait to throw some in.

thanks for watching everyone.

ok so latex is in for the first cast. i tinted it so that i will have less to paint.
i have weathered and stained the belts. i had to order more sinew and and extra strap. once i have the cast out i will be able to cut the leather that wraps the inside edge. also i have the chains that are the shoulder straps ready to go.
