I hope you don't mind my criticism, but the jacket is too light Jedifyfe. I know It's near a window, but it is clearly much lighter than the real thing. The jackets I used for my jackets are much closer to the color, but for some reason you said they were too dark when you used them.

This is me with the hoverboard and jacket that I made. I ended up selling the jacket on ebay. I'm standing next to my girlfriend. She was cosplaying Chell from Portal with the gun I got her for Valentine's Day. :)

You are correct. This jacket is lighter than mine. When I bought this members only jacket on eBay I didn't know that it was so light. But I had to work with it and my client loves it. My jacket is lighter than yours but darker that this one. There must be a light grey and charcoal grey members only jacket.

I found charcoal grey fabric spray paint on ebay a couple months ago. Could be useful. That's what I plan on using when I find the time to modify one of those ebay BTTF jackets if they ever show up again. They seem to have disappeared.

MitasTouch,

Nice outfit. Would have rocked with the MAGs :)

Thanks! But sadly this was about 4 months before I finally got my pair. I actually got them on the day of my senior prom. XD And I didn't have a plain magenta red shirt, so I used the closest thing I had lol. This was at Anime STL this year, the day before my birthday :)

And previously walmart.com was out of stock of the base jackets i used to make mine. I just found out that they are back in stock. So if anyone wants to make one just search for all guys jacket. Weird name i know.

If that is real, it blows my mind.

Interestingly enough, I got a splatter of Indian curry on the toe of my left MAG the other night and thought that was the end of clean shoes. Guess what? It wiped off with out so much as even a yellow tint. This stuff would be perfect if it does not darken the fabric as red wine is still a very real fear with wearing these shoes out.

The rustoleum site says it won't work on fabrics, buut people have done tests and holy crap maybe this is what the shoes and jacket use to still work after being in the clock tower pond https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DZrjXSsfxMQ&feature=youtube_gdata_player

Never wet isn't really suited for fabrics. It'll leave a sort of filmy haze on most products. Something Im sure none of us want.
NeverWet review: The water-repelling spray is no miracle product. - Slate Magazine

Apparently this is the stuff you want for Fabrics. Repel Well Revolutionary Fabric Protection Spray

On the stain note, I found that Folex Carpet Spot Remover, or similar brand carpet spot removers work well in removing small stains (just check on a small hidden area first for color fastness, and I recommend Folex because its kinda gentle).

As far as stain repellants go I use Kiwi Protect All like JediFyfe recommended a while back, but on these shoes it doesn't work as good as it does on leather shoes. I'm going to try my Scotch Guard (new formula) and see if that works better.

Did anyone ever find a product that would help slow the soles from yellowing due to UV damage?

First attempt, this is a different fabric than the sport shirt but its about the same shade in color. Still need the marine vinyl from JoAnn and some elastic laces. I got regular lining elastic but its not a match to the RD's

The other side is ready for the seams to be sewn, I won't attach them to soles until I got the collar & tongue done. I'll probably add an inner layer of cross stitch fabric so I can sew the laces and tongue and also add an inner grey liner

Hi JLeezy, what was the material you used for the foam 'frame' ? I tried making them out of EVA tiles but the material was too thick and rigid.

for those that have been wearing your modded replicas, hows the yellowing on the soles? minimum? or unpreventable

I haven't had a problem with yellowing mainly because I only wear mine at night. But a permanent solution would be find a grey acrylic paint that matches the soles close repaint them and then add the blue speckles again. I don't see why that wouldn't work as long as you prepped it correctly paint will last on shoes for a very long time. That would probably be the best looking and it's the only permanent fix I can think of. The only other permanent fix would be to remold the sole.
