I need some help with understanding how to install the EL panel in the sole. How do you block out the part of the EL that you don't want to see? Basically how do you make it show as two arcs? Do you install the EL behind or in front of the V2 pre made arcs?

I was wondering if any of you guys know what type of paint can be used to spray over the v2rubbersoles. Something that won't crack when flexed. Not sure what type would be best.

I'm thinking of doing some experimenting.

I see how I can make it work...as I tinker with the shoes I end up learning more and more...but any help with EL install in the sole is appreciated. I've gone through a lot of this post, but didnt find answers to my specific questions.

Only thing is I cut the EL sheet out wrong and ended up not having the length I need. So I can't finish my shoes until my new EL sheets come in the mail

Yeah, i noticed it on 2 pairs ive been wearing out regularly!
Especially past 3 days when it has been scorching hot here in the UK, i'll get some UV protectant spray, but do you think it will be a permanent solution or just a temporary fix?

These rubbers they used for casting I think are bound to eventually go yellow, unless they are pigmented usually, but since these are supposed to be clear, I guess they didn't use any casting rubber with any sort of UV protection.

I'm guessing the RD mags must have proper UV protectant within the casting rubber, unless they would eventually turn yellow too over time?

My urethanes have awesome UV protection,the price is high but soo god!!!!...I remember when I make old tests with higher shores I noticed a fast yellowning degradation with liquid urethanes.transparent soles have the same clear look,even in continously everyday sunlight ,probably was for the high value of UV protection.

did the urethane casting liquid come already with UV protection? or you had to add it in?

Not sure about the stuff cloneprops used, the stuff I bought last year claimed to be UV stabilized and it was supposeedly mixed in. The clear soles I did were are poured last year and are still the same colour today. Last year, I didn't have a Vac Chamber, so I ended up with heaps of bubbles. Look what I have now :cool



It pulled just over 28 inches of mercury [empty] and I believe a true vacuum -29.0 or one negative atmosphere. This takes about 1.5 mins to reach this "almost a vacuum". A vacuum cleaner pulls about 6 if it is lucky and will never pull a true vacuum and why that is no good for this type of work. I've rigged this to serve as both a Vac Chamber and a surge tank for the Vac Form.

Luke these are my buckle's with the battery and inverters, thought I posted it already. Any questions just ask mate, here to help!

These are temporary wired up but as you can see they are self powered and completely detachable from the shoe..till we can get them hooked up to one switch.

Is it true this stuff can be sprayed on, then peeled off?

I pulled the trigger today on a pair of these Chinese MAGs. I am wondering if it possible to use the plasti dip to take mold impressions from parts of the shoes. Not sure how thick the plasti dip needs to be to peel away, but thinking with a plaster backing, it could be an easier way to make a mold. I am thinking it might be possible to actually now make the outrigger soles from Shoe Goo now that I have a Vac Chamber.

So the V3's were just shown!!!! They are 99% accurate. Blue Icy soles with the correct pyramid on the bottom and flared sides, EL in both the soles and strap, PERFECT LED's and they are 1/2" taller with the triangle pull loop!!! The material look to be the same as the V2's though. But they did manage to put the button and charge port in the correct spot. And they are going for $185!!!

It seems your not the only one. As soon as clicked the pay icon, I scrolled to the bottom of the page and saw the shoes for $15 less than what I just payed...Its all good.

It would be nice if the V3s did come out, but in all honesty, that would be a complete redesign on the shoe.

Me neither as I have not used it. I went to the local supplier and they showed me a sample that been painted onto the panel of a car, then peeled off. So from what I understand, the paint dries to form a polymer coating that is quite hard wearing. It can then be peeled off as a single piece should you decide to remove it. It will seal porous surfaces like foam. I don't know if one coat is enough of you need the whole can. $30/can locally and comes in variety of colours.

When I first read that, I could not think how pissed Jedi would be after all the hard work he did to the V2s to look good.
