It is dim or dim compared to LED? From what I have seen, EL's advantage is uniform brightness where LED has hot spots and dull points.

Well, there's your problem. The 3v systems is just too low of voltage to make the EL shine bright. There is nothing you can do other than go with the 9v set up or try a 3.7 volt battery.

Its not really a problem of voltage, there is obviously something being done incorrectly in the wiring or connections.
I've done lots of conversions with a 3v system (2 x AAA (1.5v each) batteries) and have had no issues whatsoever.

The 3v system i've done can even run off 2.4v (2 x AAA nimh (1.2v each) rechargeables).
So voltage is not the issue, there is definitely an issue with either EL connections or a faulty sheet most likely.

There is no difference in brightness whatsoever between 9v and 3v from my experiences.

These shoes I did here are examples, one is 9v power supply and one is 3v power supply. Both identical in brightness and output. The 3v actually appears clearer as the yellowing soles were almost transparent on one pair.

This one is a 3v compared with standard V2.

This one is a 3v on feet.

How you are soldering to the EL sheets?
And which EL Sheets are you using?

I'm pretty sure this can be solved.

You can either get from Ebay, or aliexpress.
If you buy a few, it works out cheaper.

I normally go with A6 size now.

Really want a pair of V2s but none of the AliExpress sellers want to budge on their price. Still think 250 is too high. I'd be ok paying like $150.

The only way you will get a pair of V2's For $150 is if someone sells them on the junkyard. But even then they dont go that cheap. Not sure what discounts people are getting when they ask? Best bet Keep saving those pennies

So staying with 3v if that is the result.

I have the small round 3v inverters and have tried atleast two different EL samples both small. I cut one down which helped its intensity, the other i haven't messed with. I have an adjustable power supply and have toyed with voltage to no avail. I agree its gotta be a matter of the EL. I have asked time and time again for a source and just kept getting "go on ebay". With the troubles im having i need an actual source that has worked. A seller that has been used, etc. if someone can send me a sample or even the two cut pieces i need ill gladly pay for them. I have gone through different power sources, tried a different inverter and EL and this project is just falling further behind. The reason im using the 3v inverter is to put everything in the buckle. HELP!

...from seller "elwireseller" in Hong Kong. Should be $22 for the sheet.

That's the one I used, and am certain others here as well. It's the perfect aqua color, and good quality.

Ill have to see if he has a white or blue sheet. I am not fixing my sole LEDs so im looking to achieve a close to same color blue.

Everyone with 9v setups have been using 9v interters.

Im using the rectangular inverter, exact same as the 9v inverter, but it's 3v.

The tiny circular one I've not used.
I think the circular one might be too weak.

I only use the rectangle thin inverters in 9v and 3v.

You can run 3v or 9v without issues.

You are right. They are severely overpriced in the context of a replica.
I've seen 1:1 replicas of other shoes cost less than $150.

It's down to the Chinese knowing the value of these particular shoes. They know people will buy and in the process they make a massive killing.

$250 is a bargain for these shoes still. If you don't want to pay for good quality, go for the HC specials. Just prepare to be disappointed, and then end up buying the V2s anyway but for essentially a much higher price..
