Nike MAG replicas (V2 and V3 only)

Honestly, I don't think I can come around to paying $250 - I'm kinda cheap lol. When you compare the HC $98 version to the Karin's V2...I don't see a $150 difference. My personal opinion of course.

Well I can't comment on your financial situation lol. I think there is a difference if you are going to mod them...you have the NIKE wording / logos in 3 places so it puts you at an advanced place in your modifications. Plus try getting a pair of that halloween site....the quality doesn't seem as good either from a vid I saw of someone wearing them there was quite a bit of sag at the back. Anyway each to their own! It is the extra stitching (around the laces and on the strap) and the extra puffy cuff that annoys me with those HC shoes. I don't mind the non branding, but the shoe as is means so much more work to do just to get it to the starting point of the current V2 MAGs. These HC shoes kind of remind me of the older PVC V1 MAGs, just in cloth.

The video you saw was most probably mine lol. You're right about the sag - I noticed it too. I thought it was maybe my jeans weighing the Mag collar down but it could very well be that the neoprene like material they used is too soft.

Removing or at least opening the sides of the soles is a bit of work, but they come away OK with a heat gun. I've done 2 full removals now and it does time so you don't tear the rubber.

Once the soles are opened up, you can access the cavities to run new wires. I gently worked a plastic chop stick from the sewn charge port hole around to the heel cup. if you don't want to remove the whole sole, you can access the battery compartment from the inner sole. Because I did remove the sole, I was able to access this part from underneath. I was then able to get the wires from the charge port hole to the sole without compromising the inner layer of cloth.

I did read through the whole lot when i first found the RPF, but i can't remember, although i'm sure i will be going through this thread again and the V2 mod thread. Jedifyfe has a lot of mod material on here too which i have had a quick look at, and his youtube vids.

Just a little constructive criticism... the strap logo would look a lot better if the light wasn't leaking onto the tongue behind. Maybe there's a way to seal up the LED in the back?
Those clear soles look great.

I'd say the difference is around $75 worth. The unbranded Halloween knockoffs from the uppers are pathetic. Cartoonish shape, and pathetic stitching along with a hilarious clown toecap that would make krusty proud.

For $98 yeah, they are acceptable for a casual joke costume, not even acceptable as a cosplay imo.

I wouldn't even bother modifying them anyway as they look worse than the v1 knockoffs.

The "branded" ones are at least making an attempt, even if they too have crappy flaws.

I feel like the HC Mags are excellent as a $98 movie prop. Best thing about them is that they are licensed and are not trying to be something they are NOT like the branded V2s. The V2s are not worth $250 - they get away with that price because the real (limited) Mags sell for thousands. V2s are not limited - they could crank out as many as they want. I'm very active in the sneaker game and to be honest, fake Jordans and Nikes are the laughing stock of the community. V2 Mags are no different, they are fake.

With all that being said, I'd love a pair of V2s but for the right price...not $250. I wouldn't be caught dead wearing fake Jordans but the Nike Mags are so out of reach at the moment, that I'd settle for any version lol.

Let's see what Nike does next year with the auto-lacing Mags. My fear is that they will be super limited and unobtainable. I think that along with the auto-lacing version, Nike will bring back the 2011 Mags as well. Let's see...
