Nike MAG replicas (V2 and V3 only)

This is a smash and grab operation for this factory. QC is non existent and even with photos there's no real guarantee that you'll be able to detect what's wrong with the product until you've got them in hand and have worn them around. Some of us have been EXTREMELY lucky and some not so lucky. It's a roll of the dice when you buy.

Additionally, and this is just my opinion, the manufacturer doesn't care if the box, booklet or aluminum plate are damaged before sending because it's not why they think you're buying them. I imagine they just see it as checking items off a list. So if they're not in great shape, they don't care and assume we don't either because we know it's not the real thing.

Problems reported so far (8-1-16):
• Faulty electronics
• Misaligned elements (heel cup, ankle cup, swoosh)
• Bad paint jobs
• Stains
• Wrinkles/creases
• Visible wiring (ankle strap, toe box)
• Yellowed soles
• Poor fabric/sole adhesion
• Excess glue around seams
• Damaged boxes
• Damaged booket
• Damaged miniature licence plate

I received my pair this morning. These are truly kinda incredible. I've seen and handled the RD Mags, from what I can remember, these seem pretty spot on in terms of construction.

Some notes:
1. I was concerned about the yellowing of the clear soles in my QC pictures. I'm happy to say they are not too bad in person. See pictures below. Definitely a bit of yellowing still, just not as bad.
2. I made a note about wanting the outer yellow box is the perfect condition. I got pretty much the opposite. Some of the wear and tear Im sure happened during delivery but there is some breakage around the hinge and scuffs.
3. One of my shoes was completely drained. I thought I had a busted electronic but charged it and seems to be working fine now.

yeah mine came in today too. The yellowing is nowhere near as bad as I thought. It's pretty clear in person. Still not icey like the newest batch but still very clear. My box had no damage though, but I can see that customs went through it as the "it's about time" seal was already open and a part of the poster was stuck to the tape that was on the bubble wrap. Smh everything looks good though.

Post some pics if you can. I'm still waiting for my tracking number...gave them the green light on Saturday

Mine was also like that. I just assumed they carelessly threw it in when the packed it - but I guess Customs could have opened it.

Sure. They are size 9. I'm usually a size 9.5/10 in Nike but after reading the comments here I sized down and they are a good fit. I will say, these are the MOST UNCOMFORTABLE shoes I have ever put on. I've heard that to be true of the RD mags as well as these really weren't meant to be worn. But maybe I'm just nervous walking in them....

Here is my time line

July 11th - ordered
July 27th - received QC pictures.
Between these two dates there were many emails to Rebecca and chats with David as to why it was taking so long. I was repeatedly told to wait and they would be sent out soon...
July 30th - DHL shipping email received.
Aug 1 - Shoes delivered.

After inspecting them for a couple hours there is a slightly major flaw/concern - the left shoe has a crease in the toebox (pictures attached.) At first I thought it was a wire running below the fabric but I think it's actually a bend in the foam. It MIGHT be fixable? Because of the fabric you can sometimes see a slightly dark shadow. I checked and this was not visible in the QC pictures I was sent.

I plan on emailing Rebecca about this tonight.

I will say I'm pretty disappointed in the aluminum plate and instruction booklet. I realize these are extras or whatever, but still. It seems like my plate was repeatedly dropped on the floor and scuffed. My booklet is a bent and folded the wrong way. I know I'm nit picking...

On another note, I feel like the ribbing in the fabric is far less apparent in person than it is in pictures. Not really sure why the fabric seems more textured in photos.. it's strange.

so do you think 9.5 would have been better?
Im 9.0 but fit as well in 9.5 in Nike.

Why? aha

it's not fair, it seems you're the only one who got a near perfect pair with working electronics x)

Not true. My first pair (that I wear) have a small black dot on the EL but I don't care. My new pair has a blemish near the finger pull hole but I don't care. There are ALWAYS some issues. The fact is that these are REPLICAS made with the cheapest materials that will look good and sell. These are NOT real Nikes. Why you guys expect perfect shoes from these people astounds me, regardless of how much they cost. $600 for these shoes is CHEAP! The time, money and effort that went into making these happen is amazing. And here some people are complaining about little issues. Don't buy these if you want them to be perfect. They won't be. If $600 is a lot of money to any of you and you expect these to last or be without issues then you are fooling yourself. Just my 2 cents.

How many people have gotten faulty electronics? Is it that common?

I agree, this was put perfectly.

$600 is expensive, for that money we expect to actually have working electronics and sturdy shoes; which is what's advertised.. Yes, there are a few small imperfections, but we shouldn't just accept faulty electronics because they are "replicas".

One is the universal greeble and the the other makes shoes...

Overall I'm very happy with them! This is what we've been waiting for for six years.

Just 6 hey? Coming up to 27 and counting for me

it is a lot of money for a replica, then again so everything BTTF 2 related unless you make it yourself. Oops, who's $50 tube bag blew out to almost 250? Hmm, that's right.

Thenyou should cancel your order now. The electronics, just like the Nike Mags, will fail.

Speaking of failing electronics, pair number two just died a death. Fully charged & working just 5 minutes ago then suddenly, KAPUT! ...the whole shoe goes out. Gave it a thump & it springs back into life for about 5 seconds before disappearing not to be resurrected again. Oh, they have been fully charged before anyone suggests that as an option.

Maybe I'm just unlucky, but I am genuinely a tad scared to wear them now. While not in the price bracket of RD, it is a lot of money to keep burning through, especially when a vast majority of the appeal is that shoes light up.

Brad's right, whether they're replicas or the genuine article, if you wear them, eventually they will fail. Electronics & shoes aren't a good mix & although I can just about deal with the electronics giving out in these, my real Mags would be a different story altogether.

You can guarantee that when power-laces are an off the shelf official Nike technology, there will be just as many failures, the only difference being that there will probably be a warranty to back it up.

Do you think that the adapter you have to use in the UK isn't adjusting the voltage enough. These electronics are pretty fragile when it comes to voltage input.

I'd be tempted to say no, only because I've been using quite an expensive 230v to 110v/50Hz step down transformer that was bought for my RDs. I didn't trust just a layout converter with the U.K. voltage & current. Although, friends with RDs have never had a problem with using a travel adaptor.

I'm wondering that with the size 7, possibly the electronics are packed in so tightly due to the lack of room compared to say, a size 10, that there's no slack in the cables & any level of flex will cause a disconnection or breakage.
