NIKE MAG Knockoffs

I don't want to have shoes that look like socks with soles attached to them lol

Essentially the 1989 MAG (2015 in the film) was just that. A form fitting shoe that even has "sock type" written on the concept design. This is why the toe also seems to collapse when there is no foot inside.

The 2011 MAG has more foam to keep its shoe shape. My image from my last post didn't stick, so here it is again.

I still have some tweaks, but this pattern is coming along nicely and I currently am running a thread where it will available for free. It is fully scalable to any size. Once fully sorted, and if there is enough demand, I might consider investing in a commercial sewing machine as hand stitching takes about 6 hours per pair where on a machine, it would be about 15mins. The machine I've looked at costs $1850, so not something one buys because they are bored.

The mesh I am using in my prototype is strong. I probably should make a YouTube video of me attempting to tear it apart. combined with the thread I am using, it just does not rip. It passed abrasive tests (though it did soil from this) and it does not seem to get hot. I wore the upper pictured for about 15min last night and it was fine and my foot did not sweat.

Once these are done, I will be working on the soles.

i was told they are working towards a november 10th release, but there is no guarentee yet, might find out soon.

hopefully some more pics will be sent soon.

they know about the flaws of the lack of EL light in strap.

For now, I am working on 9.5's for screen accuracy. Any size other than this will be reflected later down the road once demand has been met for the first run of shoes. The issue with coming out with different sizes, as most on here have already encountered, is the tooling required is different for each size and pertinent to that particular size. Which is probably why MarkPoon only has one size, due to the cost-effectiveness. And also why cloneprops shoes will also reflect a higher premium for different sizes.

What do you plan to make your shoes from? are you going to be casting molds using rubber for the soles etc like Cloneprops and others?

I have a feeling these will be finished before the chinese replicas are shipped.

November 10 is just 3 days. Hope it is more than just a tease.

Is the fabric going to be wrapped around foam or does the fabric itself hold shape?

Yes I will line these. As you can see in the image which is just a shell, the mesh is stable enough to hold the shape on its own. Once lined and both cloth and foam, the shoe should be light and strong and totally wearable.

I like the sound of that.

How will the uppers look? Will they be puffy or made to look like the 2011s?

This is a trade secret for now...once the shoes are complete, I will post pictures and a bit more detail on it. The Chinese have stolen other pictures from here and such, so I dont wish to disclose a whole lot of information on fabrication and production process. What I will tell you is that I will be implementing a few things that nobody has yet.

Creating a prop, whether a shoe or anything else, takes quite a bit of time / trial and error...especially starting from scratch. I am sure everyone who has made the shoes so far can attest to that. I am shooting for a projected finish date of two weeks or less. As we have discussed via PM, there will be features implemented that have yet to be done and careful planning and preparation need to be taken.

My latest pair are quite slim and seem to even be the correct shape where the set I made for the leather MAG is too tall. I have made these from vinyl with a seam at the centre top. They are hand stitched which allowed me to get the needle nice and close to the foam for a good shape.

Thanks. Sorry airair, not prepared to disclose that right now. All I will say is that this material I am using is an off cut from the last AT screen I did. I want to buy a heap in light grey along with a light grey thread of the same strength as what I currently using.

Anyway, PM sent.

Jedifye is right, I'm currently working out a deal with a forum member for 12 pairs so it looks like the MP run is finally coming to an end :lol I hope everything works out for you guys, best of luck! :love:thumbsup

Also the Markpoons will be sold out soon. I believe he said that there are less than 30 pairs left and that was about a month ago.

:lol
Only time will tell!
Just because we know more information about the shoes doesnt mean they wont come out any time soon. Look at from a general shoe buyers perspective. Its "coming soon".
The fact that we've known they were coming before even the "stores" selling them now has added to this suspense. Relax guys.
Have patience, weve been waiting years for these (or one year for those who were exposed to them only because of the 2011 release)
so whats another few weeks/months compared to years of blind hope?

WOW I am now thinking that maybe I should have hung on to mine now. I made back what I paid for them, so very happy about that.

Expectations?

We've all seen the images of the V2 and the old saying "you get what you pay for" will ring true once again. If you want the real deal MAG, then you need to pay the real deal price. Otherwise, except compromise.
