It would be great if we could get the curvature out of the sole. I know resins and plastics can be heated and reshaped, but I'm thinking rubber is likely to maintain its original shape
I don't seen this as an issue as they will curve as you wear them anyway.
Do you think the top part of the shoe can be corrected?
The construction of the V2 shoes upper is not how the RD is done and not how I did mine either. I have not seen the V2 yet, but I will suggest that it made the same way as the V1.
With the RD, the cuff is stitched to the upper upside down and then folded up and glued. The cloth outer needs to be attached and secured after the initial stitching, but before the glueing. This way you get a shoe with no seams on the outside. The pull holes would also be done before the cuff is glued in as well.
In the case of the V1 (and it looks like the V2 as well), the cuff is sewn on as a separate peice and why it has that seam around the collar. Unless you intend to completely rebuild the shoe, I doubt a correction is possible.
I think most people can live with the uppers. The stitching is obvious, but not that big of a deal breaker.
They've actually got the upper shape almost dead on.
Depending on how they've wired this thing and how badly you want to make the shoes accurate as possible, then the best bet would be to neatly cut off the entire uppers, remove the leds from the soles, and add the EL for soles, and strap, and rewire the heel cup LED lights back in, and just fix the toe and you will have a virtual identical mag replica for a bargain price.
I think you would be best to remove the clear sole, add the EL and use the existing wire. Trace that back to the switch and battery add the inverter in the line there.
Basically taking the same wiring system people have already reused like SO2 and Jedifyfe and others, and just implementing it into this knockoff.
It shouldn't be too difficult. The only problem will be the actual removal of the uppers, since they will be probably glued like hell.
I think a steamer and some crafty knife skills will be required!
Do we even know about the power supply? Cloneprops made a comment yesterday that there does not appear to be a charge port like the RDs and that would be partly because the AnkleBuckle/Strap is removeable and not fixed like the RD MAG.
I woudl like to know what makes these run before even suggesting a tear down. Adding EL to the Strap? correction? Sure. I would not be cutting the uppers off to replace the LEDs in the sole though.
Does anyone have good enough wholesale contacts to just get the shoes Disassembled? Just a thought...
I think it might be more viable just getting a V3 made than getting them to mod these V2s.
