NIKE MAG Knockoffs

Plus...the lack of toe cap after the toe slimming feels damn good. Anyone else with me? Damn nice being able to wriggle my toes against the fabric in these shoes.

How strong is the bond and what did you use for this?

Apparently it's a Loctite product called "Flexible Bond". I couldn't find this exact product but the staff at the store over here (in Tokyo) told me that this other product was EXACTLY the same.

I was pleased by how easy the toe-slimming was. I actually wore my MP's to Disneyland yesterday and the shoes were fine. No separation around the toe area and there was surprisingly very little wearing of the green paint flecks on the bottom of the soles. And damn comfortable to wear while waiting in those lines. One of the most comfortable pair of shoes i've worn.

Has anyone else worn their shoes out and about?

Cool, thanks. I'll ask for it at my local Locktite supplier.

On the times when I have squeezed into mine, yes they are well built and very comfortable.

K-MAGs yes, MP shoes no.

Yeah, the reason the official 2011 mags look off is that they have made the shoe a bit more stiffer.

the original movie shoe looks more softer and fabric looks nicer.

Thats why i'm trying to rip the kmags uppers off, and just form some new ones with foam and fabric on top.

Since the original kmag uppers are just thin foam glued to leatherette, i think it should be possible to make a nice comfortable shoe to wear.

the hard part is the putting it together.:confused

Yep. Give me floppy Mags with toes poking through the uppers any day of the week.

for those that have the mark poon shoes. whats the cloth that he used on it? is it just standard cotton?

im toying with whether to do the tongue and upper white ankle piece in faux leatherrette or a softer cloth.

thing is, once ive made 1 shoe, I should be able to make others more easily.

It's a kind of lycra, I think.

Question. I used model paint for the splatters on a pair of Mark Poons but they're not working.

Can these be removed with model paint remover or will this eat away at the foam soles?

Airair, yeah it is lycra.

AlexBC, test a small patch first. I rubbed my K-MAG soles down with acetone and it didn't eat them, so just test a small patch and go from there.

Another area of the MP I want to improve is the texture of the sole and heel cup. How effective and resilient would some of the spray textures available be if applied to that area. Has anyone done this? Any product which works well on foam?

Again, it is about testing a small patch first. The water based paint I used on my MPs for the (over sized) dots set hard once dried and does not scrape off. Maybe this is all you need.

I was thinking about a polyester resin that (from previous experience) sets hard and will remain flexible. When I have used this in the past, right before the end of pot life, I have been able to get a stippled finish using a small wool roller (that has to be thrown out after).

I am in the process of making new Ankle Buckles and Heel Cups that will work with both the K-MAG and MP shoes.

I don't like the foam Ankle Buckle on the MPs (mine broke during my first test wear :rolleyes) and think the Heel Cup is too small.

Here is a sample of one of the Ankle Buckles.

Production units will of course be in white.

Black gold!

It might be my imagination but I swear the ankle strap was a found item. I'm sure I saw a child's knee pad that looked exactly the same back in the 80s.

Probably was :) Anyway I think mine look way cooler. Heel Cup will also have raised letters as well, so no foam bits to fall off.
