Yeah, I think they used several in the film. The one he puts his feet into are clearly cloth uppers. I'm thinking once he's on the hoverboard, those are the leather upper ones.
I think its the foam they put in there also which makes the 2011 release shoe different. It seems like they put a hard foam in the uppers whereas in the movie version and those pics of screen used one you see, they used a much softer foam, so it will feel much softer.
I think Cavx said he would be putting neoprene or something for the uppers but I think pretty much any soft foam would be ok. The stuff thats already on the kmags seems ok, other than the fact half of the entire upper shoe has got foam backing inside the liner!
Once i recreate the uppers, im just going to try a few combinations.
I'm pretty sure i should be able to make one with more stiffer upper pieces and another with softer ones.
Might as well adapt and make something unique, more in line with the movie version. I think the 2011 release looks too "pretty" !

Thanks. Hopefully tomorrow I can tweak the buck to make this sit a bit higher and allow the plastic pull down a bit further. This is the best one I have made and think it is even better than the one made on the professional Vac Form.
Do a search for MAG and look for threads by a member with a name like SO2. I'm pretty sure he did ribs on a pair of MPs and pretty sure he documented the whole conversion.

just to let you guys know, i got an email from some wholesaler who says the kmags version 2 with everything accurate are coming out at end of August. They keep getting delayed because its taking them time to make it exact. They may get delayed again they say. They don't have any pictures yet. But at least hopefully that means we may get some nike mags that look much more accurate than those kmags!
don't know whether they are bluffing or not, but it seemed genuine what they are saying. I just hope we don't end up with another kmag with just different materials but none of the accuracy of the real ones.

some random chinese wholesaler i emailed. I reckon i must have emailed at least 50 of these websites on the web. They said they are definitely coming out with LED's and el lights.
And i'm prety sure that the factory they will get it from is from the same guy off youtube who made the first kmags. I don't think anyone else has bothered to make a nike mag replica. Usually its just one factory who makes a branded shoe knockoff and then floods the market.
I think that guy who made the kmags probably realised his first version looked rubbish. At first glance they are ok and definitely wearable, but they are absolutely way off in look to the real ones! totally out. So maybe our words and encouragement have worked.
I just hope these kmags v2 are accurate and they send some pics asap if they come out. Might wet myself. You can't tell the build quality until they release some pictures. As long as they have correct toe area, clear soles and correct height of shoe, we should be good. A wearable pair of nike mags for just over a hundred bucks or pounds which IMO will be damn worth it.
In the meantime, i'm going to continue with my homemade build on the kmag. Its coming alone nicely. I chopped off the uppers and just made my own using foam. Now need to cover it with grey fabric and glue all together.

Yeah, true.
I don't think they will be that popular though. Even now, people don't even know that the mags were released last year on ebay auctions.
its only the die hard sneaker heads in it for the money that will try and flog copies as originals.
Im sure we will be able to tell if they are original or not. Im not expecting these new versions to be totally accurate 100%, unless they pull off a miracle.
