NIKE MAG Knockoffs

Do you guys suggest sticking some thin foam backing when creating a new strap? or is thinner better?
I can't answer your LED EL tape questions, but the double layer of vinyl is actually quite strong after it is glued together.

They need the Money Transfer Control Number to access the funds. If they do not have that, they have no money and they won't send your shoes.

I have received the message from westernunion that says fashionnelife have take the money. How many time you waited before receive reply of fashionelife with your tracking number ?

They normally email you the tracking number after 1 to 2 days, but before checking the status of your parcel, i`d wait a few days, otherwise you will get an unknown tracking number as the system hasnt been updated yet (parcelforce)

the 2 trainers i bought from them didnt come with a box, it was just the shoes.

I`d recommend buying a pair at a time - ive had parcels with 4 trainers in the box and being stopped by customs - customs look at the parcel amount on the ems form, and if its something like $30 and marked as a gift, but its a big box, customs will open it - i`ve had so so many packages being stopped over the years.

good luck :)

And now all we have to do is wait. After today is the wait for the Kmags V2. If they don't come sometime in June, then they are most likely not coming at all.

Sorry I don't share your optimistic view on this at all. The only way I see V2 coming out is if a westerner goes there to specifically have them made.

If we do get a V2, I don't think it will look that different, maybe (hopefully) just different colours. The cost of the molds for the soles are a non issue because all they have to change is the colour of the materials going in - ie CLEAR and LIGHT GREY.

As I understand it, MarkPoon's aren't currently manufacturered. It was a one time production run, and now Mark is selling off the inventory.

Plus, the cost associated with making changes to such a small-run product that would involve retooling is prohibitively expensive.

hi guys,

i was wondering which foam i should get?

i found some eva foam online, but theres "hard" and "medium" in 1mm thickness. Would you suggest medium rather than soft?

At 1mm thickness, you might want medium to hard so that it actually supports the height of the shoe.

Well, at least that's what he wants us to think.

He does seem to be STILL promoting and selling LOTS of them :rolleyes

I have the utmost respect for Mark, his shoes are legendary and still better than the others out there, but I also must admit I thought the same. He could make himself a LOT of money if he had his shoe maker create a V2 like the cloneprops one :cool

And other sizes :rolleyes
I would not have bought the K-MAGs if the MP shoes were available in sizes other than 9(?).

have any of you guys made a flat template drawing or diagram for the main show material to be cut out in foam?

i wonder how you would suggest is the best way to join up the shoe.

the kmag is joined up in two sections, and is stitched at join near the laces.

but others are doing a seperate section entirely for just the toe section.

if you have any diagrams of the different ways you are doing that would be great.

Still trying to work out how to draw out the template so its easy to join / stitch.

well you are right.

all that needs to be done on his shoes are the toe sections, the clear soles, and a few adjustments on the materials used, and he could basically supply an unbranded mag which is easily modified.

for those that are using creatology foam sheets, what thickness are you using?
i cannot find creatology foam sheets in the UK, neither is it very easy to find craft foam sheets in big sizes in general.

The biggest ive seen is A3 size in 2mm here:

EVA Foam Sheets, A3 30x42 cm, 2 mm, 30 asstd sheets: Amazon.co.uk: Office Products

I may try them.

But so far ive just got sent some tiny unknown samples of two foam size thicknesses that were available.

1mm is too thin but will be ok for the strap behind the leather/pvc (if it has no backing to it already).

3mm seems good and strong, and if wrapped over with 1 layer of leather/pvc and then the grey fabric, it would be really strong and wearable.

i don't have any 2mm, could not find any other than those at amazon.

It would be good to hear what you guys think is the best thickness combination.

if any of you UK guys know of where to get large size foam sheets, that would be really helpful too.

thanks

I think TheNickFox has documented that he did a flat template, but so far is keeping his work pretty low key. The shoes have two major seems, one on the centre of the back and the other on the inside. The foam form under the fabric can have as many joins as required. I am sure TKF said that his toe box was joined on both sides with no need for the centre back seem as you cover this in fabric after.

Mark Poon's shoes use a pattern for the MAG but is still based on common boot assembly and why the shape of the toe box, the use of the shank (made from wood in this case) in the sole.

Looks like I need to redo mine :unsure

yes its a total bugger to copy this part. from some angles, the one i made look ok, but then from another angle looks totally out.

i wonder how they originally made it back in 1988/89?

The shape is very weird. I guess they used a router or something for those caved in bits where the curves are at the top and bottom.

It curves both top and bottom, yet smoothes out at the sides towards the strap holder bit..

I've been redoing the sculpt in clay and its really difficult to get an accurate job from all the angles.

i need supersized close ups from all angles to be sure.

Looking at these pictures and it is not as deep as I made mine, yet it still seems to wrap around the ankle of the shoe quite a bit.

Probably the same way I am doing mine - sculpt and cast.

3D software and and 3D printed. From there, molding and casting.

It is not symmetrical either with the strap slots being offset or biased towards the top. This is the mistake I keep making with mine. I don't have enough hang at the bottom.

Well you put that out there so lets hope some decent images turn up soon. Because I have worked out the best (easiest) way for me to do this is a vacuum pull, I am now going to have to start again and ditch that cool looking PVC version I have made. This is all a learning curve for me as I have now had to think of this from a solid not finished result to draw this in 3D. The cool thing about this is that I worked out how to make all the parts for a new version of the tube FOOTWEAR bag with lids that retract :)

Can't wait to get this full sized vacuum former set up.
