NIKE MAG Knockoffs

My MAG's were looking a little lonely in the case, so I added some Pepsi ;)

Speaking of Pepsi, has anyone tasted the new Pepsi NEXT? The logo is different to the usual logo as well.

They should just release a sugar free version and call it PERFECT and do a limited run in those cool shaped bottles. They would probably out sell COKE (everywhere except Atlanta of course :lol) if they did.

Nope but I did try Salty Watermelon Pepsi that came out over here in the summer.

Whaaaaaa daaaaaaa fuuuuug?

Yeah that is what I said when I finally got to taste Cherry Cola when I visited the World Of Coca-Cola in 2010.

Might have some luck with cast MAG parts - Clear Outer-soles, Ankle Buckles , Heel Cups (which will have the lights part included) and even Mid-Soles in sizes other than US9. The Mid-soles will have splayed sides, low backs and even height toes.

That's also what I said when I realized I stuffed up my clean toe on the leather MAGs :behave

IM back guys i had to take a trip to NY now i have all the time in the world to help ...check out my build in my album that i will be putting together this monday see you all then. feel free to pm me or ask questions .....back for the future.... customs k mags comming soon..

What do you know that we don't?

I think he's saying that HIS BUILDUP of custom K-Mags will be coming soon.

As I've been saying from the beginning, V.2 K-Mags are not happening. I'd love to be proven wrong, but it just not going to happen as far as I can tell. Knock-off makers can get products out in ridiculously short timeframes, the fact that it's been almost 6 months since the first inkling of a new release were heard of should tell you everything.

I have to agree. Given Asia's ability to reverse engineer everything, I am surprised nothing has been made that is closer than the K-MAG.

just thought id post this up.
found these glow in the dark nike mag keychains

pretty neat
The Phantom MAG :behave
I've pulled my patterns temporaraly until I sort the issues I was having with soles.

I have also made some slight changes (for the better I hope) such as squaring up the end of the lace section. The issue with the paper MAG I did tonight was the upper printed at 97% and not 100%. My bad and now I am aware, won't happen again :)

So I am getting there.

Last night I took the paper model and extended the toe by about 1/2" and it really changed the look of the whole shoe.

Next I will flatten out some of the pear shape at the heel/collar. I like the look of the curve, but there is a slight hollow section in the heel on the foam set, so would like to fix that.

Once done, I will cut the paper shoe up, lay it out flat and scan that to import back into Sketch Up and hopefully the issues I have had will be resolved.

I also found some neat foam mats for the forms yesterday all under $20 for up to 2m long. There was a nice grey/teal mat and grey with red. These seem to have a bonded cloth finish and if there was a grey with pink, I'd consider it with the pink as a liner in reference to the Matel Hover Board.

Crafting a shoe is an art form if not almost a science.

The Paper MAG shoe as it stands now.

I've done this three times now, so hopefully this is it.

As I made the changes, I updated my Sketch Up files as well, so the truth will be reversing the pattern, printing them out to make a matching right. Then I can move onto foam and cloth.

The corrected Heel on the left.

The others are just shown just to document the difference.

Toe extension was a bit hit and miss. I got there in the end (I hope).

The line you can see on the right side shoe is the original toe profile. Amazing what that small amount does to the look.

Whilst out to the post office, I dropped in to the local fabric supplier and found 'spandex' which seems to be the ideal fabric for these shoes. They even had a grey, but it was touch too dark for this project. It was about the same as shade as the leather MAGs. I didn't see any white as that could always be dyed. They did have black which is perfect for the liner.

Yep. That small increase in length really changed it. Looking great.

It's funny how off the basic profile of Nike's Mag looks without the sole, heel, buckle and strap.

I actually like the shape of the shoe regardless. I also think that maybe the real soles are too high and chunky for the style and a lower profile sole might actually look better :unsure

In the end, the shape [or so it seems] is all dictated by the shape of the inner sole and the part I kept getting wrong. note how flat the two side of the lace slot now sit.

I made further changes to the MAG patterns and am pretty happy with the results :thumbsup

I mention in an earlier post that I was updating the Sketch Up file, however I felt it was becoming less accurate with each change I made, so I after making a few more changes, I cut up the last paper MAG, laid it out flat, scanned it and re-drew the shoe pattern.

Some of the changes are:

1. Extend Toe
2. Smoothed out Heel and Ankle
3. New Inner Sole design.
4. Re-sized finger pull holes.
5. Moved the inner seam to be between 2nd and 3rd lace. The K-MAGs have this seam between the 1st and 2nd (from the toe).

There is a 10mm extension seam for sewing and I have also added a centre line on the inner sole for construction. If you do this, start at back seam, then attach the heel to the sole and work your way around the shoe to the inner seam. The toe may not seem to line up, but it does and the tell tale sign is the way the sole remains flat.

My 4YO wants a set and so today my test print out was a scaled set just 150mm (6") long and they went together well.

Thats your opinion. Its not fact that they are not coming out.
Why are you so sure that accurate nike mag replicas won't be released?
Just because it takes a while, doesn't mean they won't come out.

If those chinese guys say it will come out of the factory, then it most likely will. They don't faff around when it comes to selling knockoffs for $200 each. They know they can make a killing even if only a thousand people want them. The added bit of an EL light and Led wiring is probably the cause of any delays.
If it means waiting longer for an accurate replica, then so be it.

I will definitely be ordering some when they come out, as they are most likely to be far more accurate than the existing knockoffs.

As for those that said the kmags were made in "vietnam" obviously doesn't know how knockoffs work. They slap on any label they want, whether it says taiwan, china or vietnam. But those knockoffs were made in China, cheap foam sole, and shoddy quality and all.

You have to remember it took them 3 attempts to make an accurate Yeezy replica and several other nike limited editions, and a Nike Mag has an easier layout to it, with single colour, so i'm pretty sure the replica will be reasonably accurate to an extent.

Sorry I agree with Nick. When there is a dollar to be made, the Chinese don't muck around. They get the product out there. That is why the K-MAGs were out only a short time after the real MAG. I've contacted two resellers. One says yes and the other says no. Who do you want to believe?

Yeah OK, I'll agree to that given they also had a US Patent number which does not exist.

Have no idea where the appeal is with the NIKE YEEZY. It is one ugliest shoes NIKE ever released. Just MO anyway.

I believe the guy from the factory who is actually in China where the shoes are being made, and says there are definitely coming out.

So you just waiting (and hoping) these come out? What about your MAG build? I think I will have my cloth over foam set built before we see anything decent as a knock off of this shoe.
