NIKE MAG Knockoffs

Has anyone wore their MAG's out and about? Especially thopse of you who have lights in them?

I am going to wear mine out to a movie (week or two) soon and I wondered what the reaction would be.

cavx, good luck with selling the Mags. I would buy them but I got other stuff I need to get first. The Nike logo on the shoes seems to be sort of damaged though.

Many times. Prepare for hours of talking. Hope you're not shy ;-)

Well, I had a productive day yesterday. Turns out the friend of a friend who works in the fashion industry had years of experience shoes. Blagged my way into his studio and spent the day being taught how to make shooz.

Damn fun to be honest.

That would be fun!

Before I painted the K-MAGs grey, I wore them to a theme park. No comments positive or negatives, so either no-one noticed, or no-one cared.

I have decided to do a cloth over foam pair to use all the spare parts I started with and didn't end up using.

Where are the pics? And more importantly, where is the how to tutorial?

If you guys who install lights in the shoes want to display them with out using up your 9v batteries, I suggest buying 2 AC/DC Universal plugs with 9v adapter. Like this one:

You would need to actually run it on a lower voltage due to the fragile nature of the LED's. But it's still very bright. That's how I did my display pair:

Ah, not making Mags unfortunately. Just general shoe making techniques. Couldn't take any pics either unfortunately as it is a studio and they had some strict policies about that.

The "MAG uppers" is still using basic shoe making techniques even if the shoe itself is quite unique. That is understandable about the photos in the studio though as they might have designs that they need to keep under wraps.

Even had to wear a security id on a lanyard.

I was actually amazed at how low tech it all was. They had one room that was just full of these heavy wooden shoe forms.

Had some time to test the fabric I want to use on a quickly eyeballed shoe form. I'm pretty happy with it so i'll go with this on my final shoe.

Of course, nothing compared to Cloneprops'.

Looks good. No only the real shoe will compare to Cloneprops.

How many seams have you got on that? It look like you will have two, one on each side. Is this correct?

Did you line the inside of the foam as well? I noticed that Cloneprops has used the same fabric inside the shoe as on the outside. I am thinking of a way to do this on my new cloth on foam build.

OK cool. So when do we get to see your real uppers?

Well I have decided that I want to have another go at cloth shoes. This time I will use a spray glue to adhere Tee-shirt material (have not found the right stuff yet) to a 3mm foam base.

I have also revised my patterns (three times now) and am pretty happy with how they are now. They are still not 100% perfect, but they do have some points of interest.

This pair is not a true new set, rather a recycled set from when I was playing with canvas uppers. They are not stitched, just glued (using super glue) like a PEP.

I have been able to get both the two seam design as well as maintain the curved rear profile. This helps them hug the foot.

One thing I do like is the shape of the clean toe.

They are flat and don't need toe correction to rid that 'boot' look of pretty much every other MAG build I've seen. Without the foam, they would get that soggy look seen in the film as Marty puts them on for the first time. I think this is what Cloneprops wants to achieve with his design.

My leather pair would have looked the same if I had turned the shoe inside out to sew it up. I won't make the same mistake again.

Since getting the sole correct, they stand tall like they should :)

And they are totally wearable :)
