NIKE MAG Knockoffs

Cavx they are really looking good mate! :thumbsup

yes I agree, this pic looks much better. I really like that angle comming down from the uppers to the toe. I always thought that the RD as well as the other ones were too flattened in this area.

im interested in learning the true height of the V2's compared to the RD also. :popcorn

This is strange how it sort of just fell into shape. I still don't have any liner or real support here, so it was probably luck that I got the shoe to sit this way. As I had explained in the past, many of the lines were see on a 2D image of the RD MAG are (well if we can use my MAG project as an example) very different when the shoe is laid out flat.

Not only doe the lace section now curve, the back of the ankle shape has radically changed and this is simply because I folded the material to sit the way it would when on my foot. If I flattened the shoe back out, it once again takes on that almost ridiculous sweep (like the wings on the Flashes shoes) up the back. Yet this is needed to give the shoe the proper width when shapes properly.

The toe is a little different. It takes on that almost angular shape simply because I did not roll the end like a conventional toe box. The pattern when flat is a huge sweeping curve and the innersole (only part that actually looks anything like a shoe) is what forced it into shape.

When I looked at both the V1 and V2 toe boxes, I wondered why they did this and the only reason I can think of is traditional shoe making. The 1989 NIKE MAG we see in the film is anything but conventional, so its clean toe is soft and why it is described as a 'sock type'.

When looking at various materials for this project, I wanted one that could stand and hold shape on it own without foam or support as well as one that flex enough to allow this flat clean toe to actually work. And this mesh does. I look forward to making these in grey in the new year.

Thanks to the select forum members that that helped me out with the collar. You know who you are :)

cavx, here are my observations of where the RD and V2 versions both went wrong. hopefully it will help you in your efforts.

I dont know if you have yet, but you might want to start adding a tounge to your models, just cut it high like it should be. =)

if you eventually get these looking good enough and made in the right material, id love to have a pair of 11's to perform a sole swap on V2 or other donors.

im both a bttf fan and nike collector, so these shoes have always been special to me.

All of y'all who do these diagrams and point out all of the flaws are sick! Without tedious efforts like this we wouldn't be able to have the mags so spot on. Keep it up guys.

I am jealous! I wear a size 13 but ordered a size 10 to display so I wouldn't be tempted to put them on.

Haha, well they're not for me. I'll be posting them on tomorrow. Just thought I'd get a snap for those interested in measurements. I wear about a 8.5UK, so I could live in these things, they're massive.

"Then it will be $230 each.We have to send them by some small packages."

Message from here for the '100 of us' order. What you reckon?

I reckon 20 bucks off is silly for a group buy that large.

the fact they are asking over 200 for knockoffs at all is even worse tho. I wont pull the trigger on them until they come back down to reality, cause they are not worth these prices imo. if they were closer to either the RD or movie ones than they are tho, id prolly pay up then, but not before.

This is getting ridiculous -.-

those cant be real bidders right? I mean the seller has 0 feedback, terrible pictures and barely more than a twitters worth of text. *facepalm* people arent that dumb are they? :cry

we must be living in an alternate version of 2012 or something. this is clearly old biff's doing! :darnkids

Wow people here are fast :) And the pictures they took puts my bad camera to shame.

I guess I don't need to clog the forum with even more pictures of the same thing, but with worse quality pictures. I'll try to be faster next time ;)
