I want to know if anyone with these V2s have compared them to the V1s. The height just does not look right to me.

ok so here is my first experience with shoesbagonsale:
shoes (not MAGs) shipped from Minhang on 12-11, sorting going on in Shanghai, back to Minhang on 12-13 and delivered, signed by a person called geou.
Vicky said in the live chat they might have problems with the shipping.
I have a really bad feeling about this but on the other hand, a lot of people receive their shoes from them. Don`t know what to do with my MAGs pre-order though...
UPDATE: Vicky promised me to re-sent the shoes today and give me a new tracking number but somehow I doubt that I`ll hear from them anytime soon...

I like the sewn one, toe looks good and forefoot has nice shape, but the uppers look too wide and short still. the 'poon effect' on the uppers, as I refer to it, is the biggest thing that ruins mag reproductions for me. id make em taller and slimmer, specially towards the back.
mabye the guy with the rd ones would trace some paper patterns off of his for you, might help going at it from the other direction? from 3d back down to 2d?

Please allow me address some points:
1. I like the way the shoe forms into this shape, especially the clean toe. It is clean, flat and still has plenty of room inside for my foot.
2. The uppers are actually just over 10 inch tall as they are now. I don't think you can see the measurement on the rule in the pinned photo. They don't yet have the cuff which will add another 1/2~3/4" and they will gain even more height once attached to a sole, so all up this size US10 will be almost 12" tall. That is even taller than my leather pair.
3. The collars look wide because they have essentially being flatted out and pressed together to make them sit up right. The reason they look as wide as they do is to allow the width when they are "stuffed" into their proper shape. The back will also flatten out as the collar gets wider. Well at least it appears to with a little massage into shape
4. Because there is no liner on this pair, the collars also might appear slightly over sized. I've allowed a few mm to compensate for the fact you lose some fabric on the seams when you stitch and fold.
When I first made my patterns, I used the V1 MAG as a last and covered it in masking tape. I then carefully cut the tape off the shoe, laid it out flat and stuck it down onto a sheet of paper. I now had a 3D (shape) to 2D (flat) conversion. I seriously doubt anyone with the RD MAGs would want to do that. Yes a 3D scan that can be unwrapped would be sweet! Has not happened yet, so lets hope someone can do that soon.

hrm, if they are distorted from being empty, mabye getting a plastic dummy foot would help you? it might be easier to work on for you, hold them together better and would help us get a better idea of the shape. it looks to me like you have the basic outline done, but it needs nudging here and there in some places still. thatll be the hard part, but it will make all the difference.
for me, the movie ones are authoritative, and where the RD ones fail somewat, is in the upper area, where the triagular cutouts and protrusions are, as well as the white lining always being too large. its hard to describe tho, I may have to make a pic with arrows and comments on it or something, if it would be helpful.
in lieu of a 3d scan tho, all I was talking about was a common sheet of paper wrapped around the RD ones, scotched taped to keep it in place and a crayon to get the contours, nothing major that would harm them.

Yes please as a picture always describes thing like this better. I agree, the real MAG is the original 1989 shoe and the 2011 RD MAG always looks like a show piece.
That could work. Again, it would have to be done by someone willing to contribute and use their expensive shoes.
The challenge is not only to get the shape right when working off 2D images, but making it actually align to a sole. A few members have thrown ideas my way, and I appreciate their efforts, however some just don't 'fit' when scaling them into a design that will be folded into a 3D shape. In a flat 2D pattern, you can have any shape you desire. The game changes once you add that 3rd dimension and that when those straight lines bend around a curved profile.
If I was to round off the back, I think I would lose the width I gained. In 3D this is sort of like a cone, getting wider at the top to accommodate my calf.
I will see if I can stuff these uppers with socks or similar to see what shape they change into.

well i've had enough now of waiting with no real eta for the v2.5's or whatever the 2nd batch are being called. I have gotten all my refunds and as this is "mag" money i'm gonna buy a pair, however i need some assistance from another member on here who has bought these shoes..

I hope they are. The size US10s I owned were just on 8" tall. Way too short. It would be nice if someone with these V2s could post a pic with their shoes and a tape or ruler.
Anything that is MAG related and not a genuine NIKE MAG is technically a knock off and has every right to be in this thread. Besides, it was fun when others were discussing their work on their shoes.
Then the V2 images came out and suddenly it was the official V2 MAG thread. The funny part is, only a select few ever got their V2 MAGs and then there was talk about a V3 or V2.5 or call it what ever you like.
The point being, what is the point of a dedicated discussion thread on these Chines made MAGs when no one has these shoes and therefore nothing constructive to discuss. The thread won't go anywhere except down to the gutter with people complaining all they got was ripped off.

As for them being online, I remember them usually signing on around 10-12am my time (GMT - 6:00 - Central Time Zone, USA & Canada). So that would have been about 10 hours ago.
