New Zvezda Star Destroyer Model kit

I want pictures of it next to an extra long cheese coney from your nearest Sonic drive in. it's what I use to scale all my props and models.

Robert

I'll take pics using a piece of string for reference.

4 available, and three went to RPF memebers. What were the odds? Well, actually pretty good I assume :)

Hello Guys

Just managed to buy one of these beauties on ebay. I'll post mine as soon as that baby is built. Hope you like the final product. I guess that Ill practice first with my Ertl and resin upgrades. Happy holidays

Is there any other place one can preorder this? Ebay seems to be out. Also does anybody know much about (or seen) the to-scale Tantiv IV exclusive that comes with the SD?

Cheers

Visited my local model shop (UK) and asked about Zvevda SD kits. I was told that Disney havn't given them the licence to sell these in Europe, so the only way to get hold of one would be online.
With this in mind, does it give any clarification on a Revell/Zvevda link up (so they can be sold in Europe), or has this been confirmed already as fact?

Wow I'm glad I got mine off that fella on eBay. I paid US$79 plus US$60 for shipping here to Australia. They want US$250 for the same deal.

Also I like how they say "Free worldwide shipping" but the model price is different for each region. They've just added the shipping to the model prices plus a bit more. Lol.

Signed up for email notification when stock comes in at one site. $150 shipped.
Haven't heard anything about an in scale Tantive though.

One of the completed ebay listings descriptions states that it comes with an exclusive Tantiv in the same scale. I have also seen this mentioned on other forums whilst looking for a place to preorder it. Perhaps it's just another model in the same scale but not from Zvezda. Not really sure... interesting none the less. I really want to preorder this... but $250 USD to Australia is a bit rich.

If the Tantive IV is in scale with the Zvezda SD, it probably wouldn't be much but 2" long max. I'm sure a scale expert will correct or refine that estimate.

My point is, it could easily be a 2-3 peice mini kit off a special sprue.

This seems to be the shot that everyone refers to for Tantive IV/Star Destroyer scale:

Maybe that particular Ebayer was just offering it himself or certain retailers get it as a bonus to offer as an exclusive. I'm really not caring if I get it or not. Cool but not going to ruin my excitement for the SD. :)

Not sure if i will order this, as i already have the Anigrand with Tantive + MF + Nebulon B Frigates.

But i´m interested - so i asked a friend who works for one of the biggest german Modelshops if he can get any info. He´s of russian origin and has good contacts to many eastern plastic and resin manufacturer. He´s not into SF, so no idea if he will pursue it as we would, but i hope he gets some info.

The Micromachines Tantive IV is just a bit shy of 2". Would that be good enough scale wise?

Was just thinking that actually - haven't bought it, but looking at the package, I seem to recall that the new micro-machines T4 is much closer to the proportions of the filming miniature than the old one (which I think was based on the much stumpier, 'official' drawings).

EDIT
Found the Imperial Pursuit set at the grocery store today, totally unexpectedly. $6 on sale, so I had to grab it. The T4 is about 52.5mm long which according to the official length of 126.68m puts it...unless my math is as bad as usual...either about 5mm too short or too long for the Zvezda (depending on if you use theirs or Revell's scale for this kit) - not too bad actually. Not sure how the official number works out against the shots of the T4 in Devastator's bay, but...well, there it is.

messing with the Zvezda vs the MM T4 - a bit large...I think....but it will fit in the main hangar.
