I'll have you know not everyone ordered from someone so careless. Mine was wrapped in a single thin sheet of bubble wrap and THEN shoved in a large mailer envelope, thank you very much!

Sorry to hear that. Do you mind sharing the name of the seller that should be avoided?

Oh, I was just making a joke lol. I would actually recommend my seller (volgania on you know where), he was really responsive and fairly priced. It seems like he packed it as best he could, but I think we're all in this boat for the most part. Shipping from russia is expensive and their economy sucks right now, so I can't blame them for doing the best they can to get these to us. The box is super sturdy and should be enough on its own really. I'm pretty sure Zvezda knew they'd be shipped over seas and what postal system they'd be going through.

My eBay seller was Volgania. Mine was shipped in the original box wrapped in a shipping envelope. Box was slightly dented but the contents were 100%. He shipped within 24 hours of my payment.
Arrived at my doorstep 12 days later.

I guess, shame on me for thinking the worst of people. Glad to hear all went well.

So mine still shows as being in Moscow - it's been there since the 26th... Anyone else's still there?

I asked this the other day and mine as others are exactly where yours is. Even the same dates. It seems we got in there right before the holidays in those neck of 'ze voods' so I am no longer worrying until a few days to a week from now when those holidays should be over and they should be on a shipping wessil any day now....

Ok - was just checking seeing as a couple of others whose kits were in Moscow on the 26/27th seemed to have moved... :)

Heads up for UK members, Hannants (big hobby shop based in London) have got these for preorder for £138 ($170)!

You would have to desperately need one of these to pay that much. Not sure when they would be in stock, but surely you could save yourself £50 by waiting till April for the Revell reboot.

Has anyone from the UK bought one of these from Russia, and if so what were the import charges like?

£138! What a joke the UK is with its pricing on everything.

You can get one off ebay for £95 including shipping. We have the import charges to think about though like you said.

So what happens when Revell do this kit....Is it the same kit just in a Revell box? In other words, is the model going to be the same quality?

Keith.

From what I've read you don't pay Duty on items up to £135 but you still have to pay VAT @ 20% of the total cost including postage and insurance.

From a couple of sources in this thread, it looks like Revell will be doing a simple rebox, so you're going to get exactly the same Zvezda kit, just in a Revell box (on UK shelves at a considerably cheaper cost- happy times!).

Got mine in the post yesterday, and it is a very impressive bit of kit. Certainly up there with the quality from Bandai cast wise. Although I would still jump at a Bandai version just because I think they would make it a little more accurate from the get go. Still, this Zevezda SD is a must have and nothing to be scoffed at.

As others have said. The tracking info on my delivered SD, has it "waiting for departure" from Russia. So the tracking info seems to just die once they hit the plane out of Russia. But thats just part of the course with economy shipping.
