New Zvezda Star Destroyer Model kit

Mine was payed for on dec 16th and just now processed through New York. Hopefully her in Oregon by the end of the week! About what I expected time wise with the holidays and coming half way around the planet.

I've always wanted a good sized plastic model of the star destroyer, but i'm so busy with other stuff these days, i'm nt sure if i should buy one or not.

That seam line towards the front looks like a bit of a pain. Anyone started filling that in yet?

Keith.

Mine's here in Canada now but on the other side of the country. Now the real waiting game begins with Canada's super slow snail mail. I am assuming no sooner then a month to come across Canada.

Robiwon can speak more to this since he has the kit in hand, but I'm not sure what they could add. The kit has most of the major components and details right. There are many opportunities for super-detailing, but that's adding lots and lots of little styrene squares and other doo-dads that are too numerous and small to produce as a "kit." The sidewalls could use a bit more detail, but replacing an entire sidewall piece for, say, a resin cast seems to me like a waste of a fairly good original piece. I think the best bet would be a replacement main hangar bay -- deeper and featuring the claw gantry -- but the way it's molded into the main hull is going to take some skilled surgery to remove the old one. It's not just a matter of swapping pieces. Someone with enough skill to remove the hangar will likely just scratch build the deeper walls and reuse the bay's ceiling piece. At least, that's my plan when I get one of these.

I think the most likely aftermarket stuff will be a lighting kit from Voodoo or someone else.

I'm mostly hoping someone will come out with a correctly sized bridge structure. If not, I'll either have to live with it, or 3d print my own part to replace it.

Another option for after market parts would be "conversion" parts to make a R1/Devestator type ship: new bridge face, new main turrets, 3 center line turrets, and 2 quad cannons for the trenches.

I have ordered one of the 1/2700 scale Tanative IV's from Shapeways to fit into the hanger. Approximately 3.5 cm long.
Should arrive in about a week.

Actually, same question, Barry - I'm up on the Coast, wondering how long, once crazy Ivan finally sends the thing out of Moscow, it's taking to get here.

Congrats! Pictures, we like pictures! Lets here what you think when you get it.

No problem! I got a new macro lens for Christmas if anyone wants to request some specific super detail shots.

The engines are hollow for lighting. That will be nice. Please post pics when you get it.
