New Star Trek TOS Phaser coming November 2014

Which one of us did the awesome black and white Wand phaser conversion that is on ebay right now??? They have SERIOUS skills!!!!!!

He took a couple pics of the Wand with the front nozzle removed from the phaser 2. I'd love to know how he got that off.

in the auction he states he had to hack it off........

That's a bummer. I was hoping the P2 would be more take apart friendly:(. I bought the paint last night for the P2. I don't want to have to hack everything off (or anything for that matter if possible) just to paint it. If no one comes up with a method to disassemble it, I'm just gonna keep it as it is.

...but I also spent a lot of time as a kid squinting at the control of a heating pad, torn off its cable and painted black (damn did I catch hell for that) and imagining it a P1, and an idealized "pew pew" phaser is what gets my motor running.

HA! Great story. I also remember trips to the thrift store or hardware store with my parents and scanning the aisles for anything that resembled the props, or pieces I could use to msake them. I would examine old electric shavers for parts...even thought at one time that communicator may have been made out of a shaver box, as my mom remarked that's what it looked like to her. There were times when I would welcome trips to the thrift stores in hopes that maybe somehow, the actual props had somehow found there way there -- yeah, implausible, especially as I lived nowhere near California where the show was produced, but in my kid mind, well, anything was possible. Funniest thing is, I did stumble across the actual pencil box that Wah Chang used to mold his communicator shells. I remember seeing it and a light bulb went off and I thought, "hey, I could cut that up and make the communicator and I bet it would look dang close!" I had studied an 8x10 photo of comm (the Making of Star Trek shot) that Paramount had sent to me after I sent them a letter asking for an extra comm they may have laying around, and so knew every subtle nuance of the shape and controls. Little did I know. I did buy it and cut it up and glued it together, but had no idea how to make the insides -- so there it sat in my desk drawer forever until it eventually got thrown away.

For anyone thinking of getting another one, or more, Thinkgeek is having a sale today of 25% off plus free shipping in the US. I just ordered one and it came out to $112.

I'm still waiting for a replacement from the Star Trek store for the one with the messed up P1 finish. It's been a week since it arrived at their location, and I've gotten no answer to my email asking about the status of a replacement. I may call them today and see what's up. ThinkGeek is getting theirs today from UPS, so hopefully they'll get one back to me quickly.

Why ask why? :lol

Honestly it's amazing that anyone questions why a person would mod a prop on a forum like this! It's damn fun that's why!
Ditto! Who cares if some other collector disagrees with your desire to make the prop really yours? The whole reason for doing this is to have fun, scratching ages-old prop itches, and getting and scratching brand new ones.

When will I be happy with my props? I already am. And I like being happy, so I think I'll do this some more. :)

I have to say that the Wand Phaser is the best semi-mass produced replica made. At a fantastic price point. A serious home run. Any fan of TOS Phasers should own one. If you can not afford it get someone to buy you one. These are going to be around for a while. A second run is almost assured. And some will wind up on second market. So go boldly forward and buy it. Now lets end the talk on it, and start the fan made improvements. Lets see those mods.

Apparently someone has done a mod. On ebay SD-studios has done a black and white conversion. I was told the link is not allowed on here. But still nice to look at.
