Hi,

I found the forum while researching how to build a fortress of solitude crystal console. Im currently trying to build a life sized Vincent from the black hole, and fortress of solitude crystal console. I love movies and props.

I grew up in Hollywood, and have always had a love of film, when I was younger I worked as an assistant casting director and used to do allot of extra work as a teen. I have several family members in the film industry, and have a daughter who just graduated film school.

I have 3d printing, coding and electronics skills that I hope will help with my prop making. I like making things as a hobby, and always have some kind of project I'm working on.

I was excited to find this forum and look forward to becoming part the community.

Hi All, Charlie here. I started lurking around this forum a week or so ago and have been really inspired by the talent here. I did a little prop making in my late teens and early twenties. Then ended up having a career designing, engineering and prototyping toys for the toy industry. I still love model making and have a couple replica props I want to rework. This seems like a really great place to learn and hopefully share.

Hi All

My name's Ben, I'm from Wales in the UK.

I've been a long time lurker of the forum so I finally decided to take the plunge and create an account. I hope to be an active and contributing member to the forum.

My prop interests mainly consist of masks, helmets and weapons (Cliche I know) ranging from the marvel, Star Wars and other sci fi/fantasy universes. I'm also interested in making movie accurate versions of the toys from Toy Story.

I've also created 3d art sculptures that I've modelled, sculpted and printed myself.

I'm currently working on the noisy cricket from Men in Black and of course an Anders version of Deckard's blaster.

I hope to share photos of them with you all soon.

Thanks all.

As a new member I would like to say, hi everyone.

I'm Paul, I live in Denmark, and I do graphics in my spare time. I often like to recreate old designs and get as close to the original as possible.

Let me start my rpf journey by sharing something I did yesterday.
cusco.jpg

I don't have a dot matrix printer, so this was the closest I could get.

And I'm happy to say, I'm not fired anymore. ;)

Hey everyone! My name is Ben, I like to make all sorts of props and costumes (mostly superhero stuff) out of foam and other materials, I look forward to talking on here

After lurking for quite a while, I finally made a prop replica. Well sort of, and I have something to show. I normally do electronic things, but now and again I do pen boxes for friends and relatives, and the last person to have one made is a Dr Who fan. So, what is an iconic Dr Who box? Yes, 'The Moment'. It's got to be, really hasn't it?
Timeline: make pens, 3 days, make box, 1 year. make carrying box for box, 1 day.

Anyway, hopefully I will get to make more props...

Andrew

Hello All,

Not so much a new member as a returning member from around 2001/2002 when I had to quit after a long term rel break up (I think my name was either jeddah or firebrat back then).

I was more of a lurker/watcher, than poster back then, and was focused on my R2 Builders stuff. I'm hoping to get back in the game (I'm an amateur modelmaker and am pretty bad with my hands!) and in particular:

1) Complete my first astromech
2) CE3K models (hopefully in an aquarium 'display case' with smoke to agument lens flare etc) - not the mothership
3) Cygnus from The Black Hole
4) Maximilian from The Black Hole
5) ANYTHING B-Wing :D

Trying to think what I can offer this community, but it's a stretch: I'm a dance teacher in London who works with challenging behaviour/marginalised students, and SEND students, an author of weird fic and horror, and I used to make music. Not sure any of that comes into prop-building!

So happy so see all the projects under construction here.

Christopher

Hi, new here, fresh baby noob greenhorn.

From Australia, never made any replicas or anything, but would like to at some point.
Totally new to the whole craft of making, replicas, props and the like.
Had a friend who made suits and stuff that i was totally enamored by, it never really clicked that i could maybe make them one day to.
Watch alot of making related stuff on YouTube. (Adam Savage is my main jam, but punushed props is awesome also)
No tools, funds or workspace, but a ton of enthusiasm and inspiration. Look forward to getting amongst it. This forum has loads of knowledge that i cant wait to start jamming in my brain.
Thanks for having me.

Hey everyone

My name is Nolan, I’m a model maker, sculptor, and just general maker of stuff that interests me. Ive been fortunate enough to work on several adverts over the the last 25 years, I’ve worked with some pretty amazing projects for theme parks, sculptors and currently make professional sculpting tools for a living.

I’m a big JAWS fan and I’m currently building a scale Orca model for the NECA Quint and Hooper figures. I’m documenting the build in the general modelling thread.

Here are a few bits and pieces that I’ve been lucky enough to work on over the past few years. Cheers all.

Hey all!

New member…

I do a little light crafting with wood and acrylic from Illustrator files on a laser CNC

Most of my projects have been focused on tabletop gaming accessories, like miniatures, 2.5D dungeon tiles, DM screens, and dice towers.

My aspersion is to one day build my own TARDIS until then I’m more interested in everything people are building props from here though so Chances are i’ll probably be doing a lot of lurking

Hello! Over the years I have acquired a FDM 3D printer. A resin 3D printer and for xmas I got myself a laser cutter. So I figured it is about time to join up just out of principle more than anything lol.

Howdy.
My name is Thomas. I am an artist.

I build whatever sparks my interests. Props for steampunk cosplay. I rarely build for screen accuracy, and the franchises I have built into for my own cosplay are only a couple.
Ghostbusters, because, yeah. :D
Indiana Jones
Evil Dead
MST3K
Currently on my build table:

Haslabs Proton Pack upgrades and heavy weathering

A steampunk proton pack built from found objects

And an assorted mod podge of little builds and art things
Enclosed are a few quick pics.

Hey everybody,

Brand new and love seeing everyone's work. Big fan of Indiana Joes, GI Joe and all things Star Wars. Thank you for allowing me to join

Greeting from Canada. Returning member from some time ago. I collect anything James Bond, 1966 Batman as well as Space 1999. Looking to further my collection.

Cheers

Hello all. I have been a long-time lurker and wondered why I hadn't joined. Glad I finally did. I am mostly a general Star Wars and Blade Runner fan, with a pretty good start at collecting. Helmets seem to be my thing lately. Thanks for having me here!

Greetings from Canada. I've been a lurker here for a while but wanted to register and thank all the people who posted threads about their Nerf Pulse Rifle repaints that have helped me tremendously with my own repaint. I love all things science fiction, Macross (Japanimation) and military. I usually build plastic models of jet aircraft and science fiction spaceships (but very slowly since I don't have a lot of spare time) but these threads inspired me to repaint my own Nerf Pulse Rifle. Thank you for these forums and the information you people share!
