Hi, I'm Nathan, but more known on the internet as Shriker. I've joined this community a long while ago while I was making a not so prototype Tron Legacy Identity Disc. Tron and Star Wars are my main favorites, and fairly recently been getting pretty good at 3d modeling and design, with my actual Prototype being completely made from scratch by me.
A year or two ago, ever since I saw the first Tron when I was young I've been obsessed, started with me making my own Tron costume with that old glow in the dark puffy fabric glue, and using a gray bike helmet i painted the lines onto it as well. this was when i was about 8. after that ive tried other things like creating helmets from cardboard, balloons and paper mache, and using foamcore to make swords.
when i got older ive discovered other ways to make things, such as eva foam floor mats, a heat gun and contact cement to make costumes and even more helmets. unfortunately, most of those things didnt survive, and since i moved to a new place, i decided to start fresh.
2010 came and Tron legacy was my favorite movie of all time. i got a Spinmaster Tron Disc for my birthday. and have loved playing with that thing since day one.
in 2016 was my first time paying someone for a commission, and it was of my beloved tron disc. unfortunately, during shipping back it got warped and cracked, tried the best i could to fix it up, but i was never satisfied with it. during this time i was going into another hobby, so all cosplay stuff turned into a furry endeavor. but that was short lived as due to that community changing into a more toxic and unsafe place to hangout in, in 2019 i decided to drop out of that community and stay adrift, occasionally poking my head in.
2021 comes and ive started to gain an interest back into my tron disc, but i couldnt just buy a spinmaster disc anymore, so i came up with an idea for a tron disc that ticks all the boxes in terms of functionality. i founded a small group of designers that started making the basis for this proposed prop.
we made one working prototype, but due to conflicting ideas and misunderstandings, we fell adrift leaving me with the disc design.
a few months later i decided to try again, and this is where i am right now.
eventually i want to make a full costume from tron legacy, and a mando helmet here and there too.

The name's Jared.
The only (non trivial) prop I've replicated is The Beast from Mandy (2018). I cosplayed in two versions of Red Miller with it -- including blood special effects.
I also completed a Guardian and Clementine robot cosplay from the video game Stray (2022).
I've also cosplayed "Leather Daddy" Tobias from Arrested Development, "L to the OG" Kendall Roy from Succession, and others.
I'll probably post build logs of these here.

Hello, My name is Benj.

I have had a wood cnc for a while and have minor success making wood art , cutting boards etc, I bought a cnc a year ago and dabbled a bit in it, but the last month it has been running nonstop. I am currently working on Anduril and trying to make it look as realistic as I can make Pla Look. ( I have some alclad 107 coming so hopefully that works out).

I Stumbled across this forum and fell in love. Everyone here is so inspiring and I can't wait to take on some more props/projects. One I have always wanted to make is the Prancing Pony Sign, but over the years I never found good references for it, Until Now! I found a thread on here that is exactly what I am looking for.

I hope to one day be an inspiration to others on this forum like you are all to me.

Hello everyone!
My name is Andrew and I’m very new to prop making as a hobby but am looking forward to getting more serious about it.

I’ve always been interested in movies and have wanted to collect props and costumes since I was about 11. It always seemed like an unattainable dream though, props would sell for hundreds, and thousands of dollars and I’d never be able to spend that much money on a collection. But then a couple years ago a friend got me into painting miniatures and I started watching YouTube miniature painters. That progressed to diorama makers, and then to prop makers, … and I tumbled down the rabbit hole. I quickly found Adam Savage’s channel, Tested, and was blown away by his amazing collection (I could spend a lot of time in his cave just looking at all the things he has collected/made). That was my dream, a room of awesome props.

As I watched, I noticed many of the lessons I learned painting minis scaled up to painting props. And there are so many ways to make props from more common materials like wood, and foam. Suddenly I realized my dream could come true, I just have to make the prop replicas myself! So after a few years of watching it all on YouTube, I’ve moved somewhere where I can have a room to actually do this kind of work and am excited to get started.

The first prop I’m trying is the fifth element stones and the case they come in as a gift to my dad. This forum has helped a lot as I’ve searched for tips and tricks for various things, but this will be my first post.

Glad to join all you amazing people!

Hey everyone. My name is Alan and I've been building props for a long time but have never shared any with the outside word, only close friends. I want to get more involved in prop making and just making in general. Pushing my skills and learning ways to build things is always a fun experience and I hope to learn new processes from being on here as well as meet some new people.

Hey there, I just found out about this place through Adam Savages Tested youtube channel and figured I would check it out. I haven't done any cosplay or prop work, but I've always had a passion for crafting and making things. I don't have all the resources or knowledge to make screen ready items yet, but I attend two different immersive festivals and this seems like an excellent site to learn how to up my game. So far everything I've seen has me very excited to learn and get started.

Hello, my name is Joseph.
I love the world of props. I started to make some related to The Dark Crystal, because back in the day nothing existed. Now I make props from Harry Potter and other fantasy and science fiction movies.
I read the forum a long time ago, but I had never decided to post, because the level is very high. I hope you forgive the processes of my creations... I'm very sloppy☺️

You learn a lot on this forum, so I've decided to be a little more active in the community. I show you some things I've done. Tnks

I'm James, a generalist maker with an unhealthy number of interests.
Currently wrapped up in doing 3d modeling for printing, but have worked in paper, wood, metal, and made a recent foray into resin.
A gamer at heart, there was always some item in game I wanted to have in hand, but since it didn't exist, it started me down the maker road.
Looking forward to having something to share with the community once I get done being distracted by all the projects others are working on.

Hello! My name's Jase. I have no experience with props or prop replicas, but I do enjoy making random things. Combining that with my love of movies and shows seems like it'll be fun. I'm starting with an odd piece, the much-hated Froggy sculpture from the early seasons of Frasier. Eventually I'd like to make or acquire replicas of the books from The Ninth Gate.

Hi, I'm Grent and I'm blown away by what is going on here!
Found this place via searching for a National Treasure prop replica. Hope to get it and some Indiana Jones prop replicas too.
Never knew there was such a community. This is awesome! :)

I welcome all users of this wonderful forum!

My name is Anton, I'm glad that I joined your forum, many thanks to all users who share here, their successes and more!

I am 49 years old, I can draw a little in Artcam 2018 and other CAD programs.
I like to make meaningful things for myself from my favorite TV shows, games and movies.
About myself I can say that I am a dreamer.

Hi folks, I have visited theRPF many times over the past few years, there are so many great projects, tips, tricks and resources, it's just awesome! I like Star Trek and I'm fascinated by Tricorders. Especially from the TNG/DS9/VOY era, but basically all kinds of Tricorders. End of 2019 I started my very first replica prop build of a TR-590 Mark IX, based on a hollow kit and with self-made electronics. For the build process I got a lot of inspiration in this great forum – thanks to all!

Hi y'all!
Happy to be here and looking forward to participating in the community. My primary interest in props and costumes is for my cosplaying: #1 Indy fandom (Sallah, Old Indy - George Hill, and Senior) and #2 Star Trek universe (Enterprise officer and Scotty from TNG Relics). [BTW, I also write ST fanfiction for my STARFLEET International Star Trek fan chapter.] I landed at this site as a result of research for my Indy/Sallah cosplay.
And, yes, I actually am TheOldProfessor (retd.)

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

I am Brutus... otherwise known as Das Brutus. Don't let the "Das" fool you... I'm Scottish, not German.

I've been propping now for about a year. Having started on the 405th building my Spartan suit from paper to mold to casting it up out of Flex Foam-it and plastic.

Costumes:

Halo:
Recon / ODST / Reach Spartan
ODST

Star Wars:
Biker Scout (as of yet unfinished)
Manalorian Shadow Trooper
Royal Commando (as of yet unfinished)

Future Builds:
Predator
Gears of War
WarHammer 40k Space Marine
Cletus, the NFL Robot

Being a larger built person, I try to choose costumes that will not look to "chub-chub" when worn, so my options are limited since I seem to always look like a football player in armor.

Well, thats me... 'nuff said

Cool poses on the bike with your armor suit, Brutus. BTW, I'm a big guy, too. So, I know what you mean about choosing costumes that will not look too "chub-chub". Do you ride? I ride a Harley Tri Glide. On my list of things to do is to get some shots in my Old Indy (think George Hall) gear on my trike.

Hi All,

My name is Darren from West Sussex in UK

I am a newbie to site, been one of those that just browse for a few years now.
Thought Id better sign up and join the community!

Very big fan of all things Prop, also a very Big fan of Adam Savage (member I believe).

Been working on a few jobs sitting around waiting for completion:

Doctor Who (NSD) Dalek Fu;ll Size---Fibre Glass/Resin Moulded and Metal structure--60% complete
Iron Man Full Size Replica--3D Printed--40% Complete
Thors Mjolnir--3D Printed-Silicone/Wooden handle Moulded then cast in Pewter (I know crazy eh)--20% Complete
Han in Carbonite--10% Complete--(slow burner that one)

Future builds:

Doctor Who Moment
R2D2
Boba Fett helmet
MIB neuralyzer

I do tend to start a few jobs without completing one, but that's what makes it exciting for me I like to mix it up a bit.

This is all between making bespoke furniture and items as well as my full time job in Composites (Carbon fibre mainly)

The quality of the props you guys build are fantastic, attention to detail and build method excellent it has been an interesting read as a lurker for many years.

I think its good for me to be part of this community to vent my crazy thoughts and potential projects to start (well that's what the wife tells me, think my Nerdy side bores her..ha ha)

Catch up soon

Darren

Hi Dave here,
I love to make and recreate Star Trek props and furniture. From NE Pennsylvania. I started building things in 2016 and am having a blast making things. I've made and recreated a number of cool things for the Star Trek Studio Tour including work on the transporter pad and recreating the Mirror Mirror Tantalus Device there. link to video Tantalus.
