Hello! I am about as new to this site as can be. I've been sewing for almost 10 years now, and i'm only 17 years old haha!!
I am ready to break into the area of prop making as my last competition piece was... well, sub par.
I don't have any pictures on my computer currently, but i am looking forward to making more informational posts as i move forward with both more fabric work and commission work.

I don't really know what else to say, but i am looking forward to learning as much as i can about everything i can and could do!
Thanks for having me!!

Hello everyone! Glad I could join this amazing site and I am thankful for the PDO files provided by the community that are used for Pepakura Designer. I am currently having some trouble trying to re-create one in particular, the Vanquish ARS Costume and was wondering if anyone could give be of any help in regards to the questions I have when it comes to building the outfit? If so, where could I post a thread about my questions in the right section of this forum? Or better yet, would anyone be willing to inbox to answer some questions I have, for example when I follow everything in the PDO files then when it comes to putting the pieces together for a particular body part, something looks wrong or something doesn't come out right even though the instructions/templates were followed and printed out exactly as shown? Questions like that I need some clearance, so any help would be most appreciated! Other than that, thankful for this site and the amount of work and effort that has been put together by this community just so we can re-create some of our favorite armor/costume designs!

Hi All,

So I have been a "Lurker" for a very long time.... I have been into prop making off and on since I was about 12 (made a wood and junk parts Proton pack way back then and traded it for a Gizmo figure after Halloween.....). Since those days I have built a few lightsabers back in the late 90's and have multiple unfinished projects in storage and my basement to include parts for a 1:1 R2-D2. I have multiple unopened "garage" kits that I have bought over the years. I have bought a lot of stuff from different franchises mainly in the 90's and early 2000's. I have also sculpted a few things over the year, but mostly not prop related (tiki mugs and landscape art) with the exception of some small pieces just for practice. I have done resin casting in the past for prototyping purposes with car and motorcycle parts. Recently I have been teaching myself how to use Rhino3d and digital printers to help figure some things out. I have no real direction at the moment, just looking to make some things with my daughters to give them a head start and maybe keep them from procrastinating like I have done. They are into all the "classics" so all my stuff in storage might actually get built; right now I don't have a specific direction, I am just going to play it by ear and see where I go. There are a few "wants" like Deckard's PKD Blaster build and revisit an actual proton pack build. Well that's about it, nothing groundbreaking that will add anything of note to the forum. Thanks for reading this.

Mike

Well it's been a long time since I been here ,been a member since 2001 , got started collecting props since Icons back in the day. The prop community has grown and that's good. Thanks for having me see you on the board.

Hello to all, I'm a chemist and father. I recently have gotten into the lightsaber community and have several projects going on. Hasbro conversions, Graflex shop replica, Roman's v4 to name a few. I'm totally interested in learning from this wealth of knowledge. I just asked for my first Anakin Starkiller V2 on his latest run. This community is awesome!
Thanks,

Hey there, everyone!

Finally signed up to this wonderful forum, after reading many, many posts on here over a long period of time...! :)

I'm a long time Star Wars fan - saw the original release way back in '77, and remember the queues, and being able to walk into the film at any point - and stay on for the next showing until you got to the point that you walked in at - and then staying on to watch it again and again.... :D (showing my age here...!!)!!)

I've had a passion for movies since then that has never left me.
As a result, I was a film extra for over ten years, and am now a full time visual effects artist (compositor). As a result, I do tend to get time off between contracts - which will hopefully enable me to take my newest hobby further: I currently own stormtrooper armour, and recently got a good deal on a second hand Rubie's Supreme Vader costume - which had already had some mods done to it by the previous owner (improved cape, and neck area raised/ lengthened.)

Given some of the posts I've been reading on here lately, I've decided to put my stormtropper armour mods on the back burner for a short while, and push forwards with modding my Vader costume. I already have fibreglass chest armour, and already owned the SDS Vader helmet - and my next order for various other bits and pieces should be arriving over the next few days: I can't wait to get started! :) It'll be sometime before I can fully mod the entire costume the way that I would like, but starting on the upper areas seemed a good way to start (especially as the upper half is what most people really focus on!)

The posts I've seen on here over the last few days have really inspired me to do something more with what I have, and I hope that I can put all your collective knowledge and experience to good use! I'm happy to be part of a group of like-minded, friendly people! :)

Photos: me messing about with my newly received Rubies costume and Force FX saber, me with Rubies costume and Hasbro reveal helmet, and a still of me taken from a mate's 50th birthday message - which was cobbled together, filmed, edited, keyed, composited and completed by me alone in less than 3 days, hence the rough nature of the final shot....!

Hello everyone,

I've been a life long fan of the original Star Trek and scifi in general. After retiring from the military I picked up 3D printing full time and am now at a point where I can 3D print decent looking props. I generally sell some of the things I make on ebay and etsy but I mostly create things first to see if I can, and also because I just love doing it. Anyways, I'm glad to be here! Here are a few photos of my 3D collection.yellow or red.jpgred alert.jpggray wall plant.jpg2.jpgNomad4.jpg6.jpg1.jpg

Hi everyone. I have a growing interest in this type of thing. Especially the star wars. But I think for my first project I want to build the lock on the door in the amazing spider man movies. I've never used an Arduino board or anything before. Never done any soldering. But I'd figure I would jump right in and see if there were some friendlies that might help guide me if I have any questions as I go along?

Below is a link of what I am trying to emulate. This thread is why I joined the board actually. Then saw all the great star wars stuff. :)

Hi all,

After lurking on and off for quite some time, mostly due to me looking up certain models and/or props and always ending up here, I figure it is about time to register and try to contribute.

I'm coming into this from a modeling angle; first and foremost, I like to build models, be they plastic or resin kits, or complete scratchbuilds. But I've also discovered that I really like making full sized prop-like stuff.

This began with an RPG campaign I ran several years ago, set in a pulpy thirties era, and for which I created a whole range of hand outs for the players. Mostly paper stuff, but I enjoyed the researching and making process greatly.

The last year though, I've also created a replica prop, wich I will be showing off here soon... :)

Me? Well, I guess I started with finding the WWI battledress uniforms used in Oh! What A Lovely War!, at the ripe old age of 14. They were real. A couple of weeks later, I took my first salute, from the entire high command of the Expeditionary Force - seriously, the entire cast on its way to start filming. 2 Lords, and more future ladies and knights than I care to think of.
Later, I had to squelch an interesting idea, when Professor Nick Philips was trying to holograph a real X-Wing fighter in 1978 - he couldn't get it to stabilise, I realised he'd just established a practical demonstration of the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle. The idea was fun, though - as 'Er Maj steps out of the car on the Opening Night at the bottom end of Tottenham Court Road, the subsonics grow, and then an X-wing pops out of nowhere amd disappears down the road...
Somewhere along the road, I found myself facing the up-front money for The Last Emperor, over a long weekend, and so was the first person to be asked by Bertolucci what my impression was - thankfully a functional seer gift had just been installed and so I replied, 8 Oscars. It took 9. Well, I was being modest...
These days, after playing Diplomacy for real, I'm interested in my own mind, and that means getting to grips with interesting tech - and if in the course of it you folks get some of my knowledge, so much the better. My latest activity? Well, when you see the batteries disappear from cars, then you'll know the way to the stars is open.

I found out about this site on YouTube when I was looking for tips on making cosplays!

I’ve only gone to a convention once, and the cosplay was pretty bad, so I want to improve for my convention next year!

Hi all!

After finding this great place I wanted to become a part of it. Usually I was searching for SW armor props/parts or how you guys harden paper models with resin. My interests are models made of paper (basically pepakura) but I still don't have any experiance in resin usage or anything like that so that's partly why I'm here. Since I've built some models, I would like to build a full Mando costume. I've already made pep helmets which you can see below.

Best regards! :D

Hello. I have the Aliens airsoft pulse rifle and I joined to read all the modifications people have done and see if there is anything new.

Greetings and salutations. I'm Chris general weirdo and writer by passion. I also am known to build props and costumes. I actually got to be on a panel at Wizard World Iowa this year. I felt pretty amazed because it was my first time seriously cosplaying and only the second convention I've ever been to.

Hi, I am a longtime Star Wars fan. When ep. 4 ANH came out, the closest theater that was showing it was over an hour from where I lived, so it wasn't exactly a casual decision to go see it. I have been hooked ever since. I built my first lightsabers (Luke and Vader) from camera flashes back in 2014, and now it is time to update them to better sound cards and lighting. I got linked here from Wanna Wanga's web site so I could track down SethS so I could thank him for his great saber bible. Thanks for the add, see you in a Galaxy far far away.
