Good evening!
I jumped the gun a bit by posting a thread before i saw this section - sorry for that!
I guess like many of you I saw A New Hope in 77, it blew me away then, and it still blows me away. The other films passed me by somewhat though I did see TFA and...well, ok!
Ive been a long time lurker here it always amazes me the level of knowledge you guys have about movie props, and especially my favourite, the Imperial Stormtroopers.
So its nice to meet you all and i look forward to being a member :)
Bye for now,
Shiva71

Howdy!
My name is Jinky. I`m basically from Finland, but currently on Cyprus. There's not really much to say, I joined the community because I've always been a big fan of costuming even sewing some of my costumes as well. Hope to see fair criticism and share my works here

Cheers all!

Hi Everyone
Im a massive film and comic geek that found my love of Cosplay late last year. I have always wanted my own Stormtrooper armour and after going to many con's and at the ripe old age of 31 I thought lets give this cosplay lark a go.
Im now hooked! So many idea flowing through my brain of characters i want to cosplay and armour i want to build.
I have started using EVA foam and am very much still in the novice phase but want to get better and create bigger more impressive cosplay's so thought i would sign up to this site for tips and networking with other prop and armour builders as dont have to many friends doing this and recently went to a con on my own :cry
thought i would share with you some of my current very small builds.
Thanks Jim IMG_8869.JPG

Hey Everyone,

I was turned on to the RFP by a friend when I was talking to him about making a replica of the blaster on Blade Runner. I do a lot of cinematography and love doing movie inspired stills. This might be a good place for me to ask a question... I am looking to make the space suite (particularly the helmet) from 2001: A Space Odyssey but I can't seem to find anything on others who have already tried it. I have some ideas on how to start but I like to learn from other's mistakes. Any thoughts on a thread or where I can start? Thanks!

Hi All,

I've finally decided to stop just reading online and decided to join the RPF. Cant wait to get involved and see where this adventure goes.

Hello Everyone!

I've always came to the RPF and never really got involved in the community. I thought it was about time to start sharing with the community and like minded people!
Im a special effects sculptor! And look forward to seeing everyone elses work as well as hearing feedback about mine! Heres a few photos of some work i've done. Everything was sculpted, molded, casted, and painted by me! This is a small sample, if you'd like to see more you can check out a more intensive portfolio via my website at http://www.kirkgourley.com
Hope you Enjoy!

Hi everyone! I'm Danny and I've been a lurker for a few weeks. Love Star Trek, Star Wars and pretty much anything else. I'm hoping to get into cosplay in the future. :)

Hi
Just registered on this site, found it via Google search, looking for judge dredd props etc. Great site, looking forward to seeing people's incredible work

Hello!
Newcomer here. I've made several cosplays in the past- Rey, Agent Carter, Winter Soldier, Doctor Strange, Moana and others. Usually I do the sewing and my husband does the prop making. I've lurked around these forums for ideas in the past, but I'm finally posting. Currently, I'm looking into an Overwatch cosplay and someday we'll try stormtroopers. Hopefully I will post more, comment, share and be inspired by so many of you!

Hey all. I've browsed these forums for years and gained a lot of useful insight and decided it was time to sign up. I've always had an interest in props and customes and about 7 years ago i found my calling in the form of making hats. I started with jack sparrow replica hats and having perfected these the point they are the best replica available I have turned my attention to various styles and periods. It's mostly pirate hats at the moment but as I slowly expand my collection of hat blocks i will be making many more styles and able to make replicas of specific hats. I Also have a love for star wars costumes and props and was lucky enough to have a graflex 3 cell for a while but had to let it go a few years ago when cash was short. Anyway drinks all round, have a look at my hats here:https://www.facebook.com/TheCaptainsQuarters01/

Hey Everybody,

Lukas here. I discovered this forum watching Tested videos all day and hearing Adam Savage talk about it. I have always been a collector but I'd love to focus more on movies etc. I am a big fan of hot toys and I am just starting my collection. Love building my own cases for those figures especially backgrounds etc.

I am not much of a builder but I really want to try and see if I can get over my phobia of failing to built something. If you have suggestions on how to start or what would be an easy start to finish built for me, please let me know. Would love to hear your oppinions.

Really glad to be there and hope to talk to you all soon.

Hello all! My name is David and I'm from Chicago. I'm currently studying to be a journalist, but I'm a collector of toys and props for my hobby. I mostly collect horror and Star Wars, and am a member of Michael-Myers.net (a horror prop collecting community with a focus on Michael Myers) and RebelScum as a result. I have a considerable collection of replica Michael Myers props (I'll post a thread in General for anybody interested), but I also have a replica Freddy glove, a replica Jason Part III mask, and a store bought Ghostface mask. I also have a considerable collection of Harry Potter wands by Noble Collection, although all but 4 are currently put away into storage. I have some Star Wars replica props I'll post about in the appropriate places, a handful of Jurassic Park props replicas, an Indy Raiders hat and a functional Gandalf pipe (also from Noble Collection). I also own a One Ring replica, and the Noble Collection Ring of Barahir. All that, and an urging from a friend of mine, pushed me to joining here. I always loved movie props, and if the industry wasn't so harsh (and I had the talent) I'd have probably opened my own prop store. Until then, I'll be satisfied with making myself cheap prop replicas, many converted from toys or Halloween props.

Well, never been one for long winded introductions, so I'll stop here. Again, hello! I hope to enjoy myself here. :)

Hi, RPF! I'm Adam, from Seattle. I discovered this forum about a year ago when Adam Savage mentioned it on Still Untitled. I've found it to be a real fantastic resource, and I have no idea why it took me so long to join up.

I'm new to replica prop making; haven't done it yet except for Halloween props, but I'm inspired to try things I'm learning here.

I made a ST:TOS uniform from the original pattern that turned out not terribly.

And I'm halfway through a papier mache Stormtrooper bucket that I'm building with my 4yo daughter, but now I think I might scrap the thing for EVA foam! (And then make one for every member of the family, haha!)

See you around!

Hello Everyone! I am Jan from OK and currently in the middle of a 1967 Impala rebuild to a Supernatural Baby replica! My car's name is Angel and we are in the second quarter of the rebuild! I am also gathering up the contents of the trunk, which is proving to be as big a project as the car! If I have extra props I can post them if anyone is interested. Angel is the star of her own non profit organization and we will be raising money for the charities represented by the actors on the show. Details to follow on our Facebook and website SupernaturalAngel.com. Happy Holidays!

All hail the RPF!

My name is Jeff I have lurked on here for ages and enjoy all the effort everyone puts into such an amazing art.

Catch you on the flipside!

Hi there folks,
I've been trooping with the 501st for a few years as a TK, and have gotten into making more costumes recently. I'll be posting a few build threads from recent costumes over the next week or two, and look forward to any feedback you have on what you like or what I could do for improvement. I'm especially looking forward to using you all as a resource to learn more about 3D stuff like casting and molding, and electronics. Great to join this community.
EDIT: Haha, and I just noticed that I already posted in this thread six months ago when I first joined up! Oops.

Hello fellow prop enthusiast! I found this site while looking for a prop to order. I love building props myself and just wanted to hear about other people's creations.

Followed RPF for the last few years on and off, thought I'd finally register and submit an introductory post.
Name's Josh, I was originally introduced to the RPF through a friend of mine. I'm very interested in how costumes, suits and effects are made. I'm fairly engrossed in comics like DC, Marvel and some indie titles, games (PC and consoles), books, film and television (especially with more emphasis on film). Love Star Wars, (Empire's my favorite SW film) and I always wanted a suit of Stormtrooper armor and some time ago, I finally got a stormtrooper kit from Anovos so I'll be looking to assemble that eventually.
