Greetings everyone,

My name is Josh, and i live in Las Vegas, NV. I have only been prop making and cosplaying for a short while, but have always liked building things since i was a kid. It took me a while to sign up for this site and thats because i have been super lazy as of late. Im hoping that seeing all of your cool build will spur me into motion again to start making things. :)

I have only built a few things as of today. Pictures follow :)

First is the halo armor i built. I build this out of cardstock using the basic pepakura method. It got destroyed so i have to rebuild a suit soon.

Next is a pistol i made for the armor.

I evetually moved my way to using foam and made a helmet for myself. Its not the greatest, but i learned a lot building it.

I even started a loki helmet out of foam for my mom. I have yet to finish it because i ran into a few problems and have yet to address them. But i soon.

I have made a few more things, but i cant find the pictures for them currently so i guess thats all for now :)
If anyone has questions for me feel free to ask and ill answer the best i can.

I look forward to learning many new things from everyone here, and also sharing the way i do things too :)
Take care and have a great day

-Josh

Hiya, I'm Kaz, I've been cosplaying for about 10 years but one of my mums work friends recently got me into "foam smithing". I have tried my hand with some flimsy kids craft foam (If it weren't for my hot glue gun and heat gun I'd dread to think how they'd look!) Due to him crafting a Scissor Sword from Kill La Kill out of paper I have begun to dream big and start up my own work space :D House mate recently moved out, so I have a spare room now.

I found this community through the aforementioned work friend of my mum's. He suggested I post here for advice regarding some shoulder armor.

I hope to make some friends and garner some advice and tips that will keep me learning new things.

Hi all, hope you don't mind another UK member.

I'm Lee I have been making for a long time but mostly miniatures and model kits. I decided to make a move up to 1:1 scale replicas and have never looked back. I started with a fibre glass predator helmet back before I knew it was a thing people did, and that was about 14 years ago.

I love films and video games and TV series so my loves are wide and varied. I was born in the 80s too so have a lot of good old favourite shows and films as I have seen all of you lovely makers and lurkers. You guys all do an amazing job at inspiring a level of craftsmanship professionals have and I am proud to be part of your community.

Hopefully I can show off some of my makes soon. Not that they are as great as the ones you guys all post. Thank you for having me and keep on crafting.

Hi everyone!
I was a film projectionist for 5 years in high school/college and I loved it, I regarded the process as an art form, especially when each project has their own mechanical issues. I love film and I'm thrilled to be a part of the RPF! I'm new to creating things, but I make my own archery equipment (arrows, mostly and some leather) and I can't get enough airplane models.
Thanks for having me and I can't wait to contribute!

Nice to meet you!
I'm Salvatore, 32yo man living in Switzerland, loving Ghostbusters, Indiana Jones, Back to the Future and Jurassic Park series.
Into costumes and props since I was 17, it simply gives me a lot of fun and relax.
I'll sure have a nice time here, thanks in advance for all your precious hints!

Hello! I'm Connor, and I'm from Mechanicsville, Virginia.

As my username suggests, I'm a huge fan of Super Sentai and Power Rangers, but I'm also a fan of Star Wars, DBZ, and many other franchises. Mainly, I'm an actor and used to having someone else mainly make my costume (though we are often requested to bring items from home), but I have a feel for basic costuming. As for props, I'm more of a buyer than a maker.

Hi to all of you at the RPF!
I'm a new member from the UK, but have had a keen interest in the RPF for quite a while now - mainly due to the wealth of replica lightsaber info from the Original Trilogy.
I have been an architectural model maker for over 10 years now - the experience from this (and RPF threads) has helped me with my own few sabers.
Thanks and regards, Martin.

Hey!

My name is Taylor. I found this forum from watching costume and prop replica videos from Tested (they mention RPF a lot!). I'm an independent filmmaker with a huge passion for props and costumes. I went to film school in LA where I majored in production design and spent a couple years working on various small productions. I then moved back to Seattle, where I worked as the lead prop maker for Ghostride Productions, fabricating props for the haunted house business. I now work as a media specialist, making videos for Mod Pizza, but I've never lost my love of costumes and props and continue to make (or at least dream) for my own personal projects.
I'm excited to learn from the collective experience!

Cheers!

Well here go nothing.
Hi
I'm Aaron
I have very limited experience in this prop and costume making thing.
I'm a soon to be Navy Diver. So well my making will be a hobby. I don't have experience in much other than solidworks and some 3d printing. I have work with a variety of stuff with other project I have done. My current project is one I'm trying to get done before I leave.

So yeah I don't do much other tan my other hobbies camping and sailing. I play Magic and am a big star wars fan. Oh love Borderlands and post apocalyptic stuff. other movies and video games as well.

Hello!
I've done a few cosplays (10th Doctor, TF2 Sniper, Hunter S. Thompson) and just joined because I'm making some more. Currently I'm working on Dr. Mario and Natty Boh.

Hi, Bill here.

I have lurked for a while, but this is my first post. I've been watching a lot of Tested lately and decided to join and attempt making some things along with collecting some. Built one item tonight and have a few on order. Glad to be here in and around all this wealth of knowledge and talent. My interests are varied, I grew up with Star Wars, Alien, The Last Star Fighter, Highlander etc. so I hope one day to have a varied collection, a Cheers!

Hello all! I came across this community yesterday while researching an MDF build for a Cosplay Costume I am working. I looked around and saw all manner of good folks of my same stripe so I joined right up! I first learned I had good hands when I fell into a mechanic job and first learned I had a good brain when I used those hands to make my first original work. I look forward to learning and helping all I can here!

Hello! My name is Curtis. I have built cosplay props since I was a little kid. Inspired by the likes of Bill Doran and Harrison Krix, earlier this year I quit my mundane desk job to focus on my passion for making stuff. I started Starside Armory with the intent of selling predominately sci-fi props and costumes. I have only completed one noteworthy build so far, a rifle from the game Destiny:

I really look forward to learning from and sharing with this community!

Hey!
I Just joined the RPF despite being very familiar with it for years.
I did a degree in Special Effects Development in Bolton, UK and did pretty well.
My fellow students and lecturers delighted in props and costume whereas I was obsesssed with the human body, gore, prosthetics and bodyparts.
I didn't think the RPF was for me.
Anyway, I ended up discovering my passion in medical simulation and was rewarded with a PhD scolarship to continue my work and research in using FX techniques in Medical simulation.
Now I'm an academic (stifles a laugh) I now find myself enjoying delving back in to making props and projects for sale for fun and to raise funds for my research (studying is expensive!)
So I've decided to enter your world. In the hope that I can learn and maybe even be of help at times.
Greetings to you all and I look forward to getting stuck in.
Maeve
P.S. if anyone is interested in my work check my website/ portfolio: www.sim-FX.com :)

Hi, My name is Steve, also know as "supercoolin" from my years of building sub zero phase change cooled computers for overclocking. A few months ago I was diagnosed with terminal leukemia and given a short time to hang around.
Crap, Steve! That really sucks, I'm so sorry! One thing I've always wanted to make, is a "magic wand"; one that WORKS, so I could fix people -- you would be high on my list! (My brother suddenly came up with adenocarcinoma, finished his second round of chemo yesterday.) I don't think I will violate the "no-religious-discussion" rule here by telling you I will pray for you!!! :facepalm

During my second round of chemo my Grandson proposed that I help him with the building of the Enterprise Refit. Not having built a scale model since I was a kid, I said no problem. Now after three months of research, collection of parts and a lot of screw ups, we have managed to get the ship to the final paint stages

Here is the progress:

Disassembled and now it is the time to paint the Aztec scheme when I receive the paint masks from Orbital Drydock.

Is there any other sources for Aztec paint masks out there? I am getting very impatient.

That is an EXCELLENT job! Now if only you could make it fly! That would be cooler. (Is "cooler" a word???)

Hello to all,
I'm David, or Dave an I am from the US. I recently discovered therpf while looking for someone that has completed a N7 suit and just needed a bit of help. I am very excited to be part in such a fine community of experienced builders, I have made several projects in the last few years including, a pair of Daft Punk helmets, Gladiator armour, several weapons from the Final Fantasy series, and I am currently working on a full Deadpool suit based on the teaser trailer for the movie as I have been a huge fan for quite a while now. I hope to meet many of you and can't wait to upload some of my own projects here.

Hey,

My name i Rhys and I just joined the site today. I joined because I was inspired by the Tested video which was the Back to the Future 2 Nike Air Mag Replicas to make my own pair of Nike Air Mags and joined this site because I had known about it for quite some time and knew it was the perfect site to meet new people who are also interested in replica props/making them.
My hobbies are creating graphics (I am an aspiring Graphic Designer) playing guitars (Acoustic and Electric, but mostly play my electric guitar which is the Ibanez GRG 170DX) I also like to create things such as knives, props, in game props/weapons etc etc
