Hello.

I stumbled upon this site after having decided to start creating props. It's something I wanted to try for a long time but didn't know where to start. Hope to learn a lot from all of you talented people. Cheers!

Hi everyone, I'm Bill and I'm completely inexperienced with making anything! I'm looking to have fun attempting to make props with my 16 yr old daughter. We love Marvel and are looking to make a Captain America shield as our first project.

Joined at last! Discovered this quite by accident whilst researching for my Indiana Jones costume. I've been interested in model making since being given an X-wing for my tenth birthday in 1977, (such a long time ago it seems now,) and made myself a Spidey costume when I was 16. It was terrible, but I loved putting it together and remember fondly going out with it under my clothes! It was hot and uncomfortable, but I thought it was great. Sadly there is only one photo of that costume left, I'll dig it out and post it.I look forward to being part of this community.

Hi. I am Travis. I love everything Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica, and Trek. I am an active member of the 501st IMP Legion. I cosplay Boba Fett and a TIE Pilot. I would like to get more into fabrication, molding, etc. Looking for any help I can get, tips, techniques, best practices for making my own stuff. I would like to work a BSG viper pilot costume as my next project.

Greetings! My name is Chris. I am into Star Wars and Marvel, as well as video games and other random things. I recently decided that I wanted to start being a maker, and I decided that the RPF would be a good place to go. My first project is going to be a full star lord costume. I'm going to build it up over the next while as I learn to do things, and then improve it as I learn how. I look forward to interacting with all of you, and if you have any tips/criticisms/help I would appreciate them very much.

Hi my name is Dan. I recently came here looking to do a Captain America shield. I had no idea there was even anything like this. It is funny that the only reason I started the build was because when I was recently on a vacation I saw a shield in a small shop in the middle of a tourist trap. From a distance it looked good but when I looked up close it was really a pretty poorly done hand made shield for 100, so I did not buy it. When I returned home from vacation the shield was still in my head. I then began looking pretty hard on the internet to buy one but found that other than a efx pre-order there was not any quality shields to be found. I somehow found a video of someone making one and later found a bunch of great information on this site and began and completed my first build. I found it to be so much fun completing a project like that and really look forward to doing something else. I just joined and started my first thread a few days ago documenting a majority of the build. I really look forward to doing more builds in the future and learning more techniques from the community as well as sharing the projects I do. I am now going to begin a Thor Disguise hammer upgrade and should be starting a new thread on that soon. If anyone wants they can see my shield build using the link below.

Hello everyone. I recently looked into this forum for help with costuming and hope that it will be a good help. I do historical pirate re-enacting on the side and this will be for mor of my nerdy side. Possibly the Shredder and a few video game characters from Yester-year. I have been told I do an amazing Dr. Krieger from Archer. And I may post a few pics of that.

Hi everyone,

I'm Antonio from MA and found this site when searching for Starlord (Guardians of the Galaxy) info. I look forward to using this site as a resource and posting my build in the future.

Hello,

I'm Tom from Orange County, CA. I've been reading on the forum for a while now for ideas on what foam to use. I'm new to this so I just decided to go with foamies cause they are inexpensive haha! Now I'm just looking for pepakura files set up for foam armor. My first endeavor will be a grey knight terminator. I'm hoping to post some of my builds on here or obscurus crusade as I go. Hopefully I can add to the community of costume making and I look forward to seeing where this goes!

Whats good guys?

I'm a recent grad and illustrator who for the last few years has begun to teach himself makeup fx. Last year I decided to try my hand at cosplaying and making a major costume from scratch (my favorite villain, scarecrow from arkham asylum). For my first time doing something this complex I was very proud! Since then have been trying to pursue anything that has my working with my hands, be it makeup fx, prop making, sewing, drawing, designing, you name it. I'm currently trying to focus on creating replicas from video games, but eventually want to use what I've learned as a stepping stone to designing my own creations. The ultimate goal for me is to work in the film industry be it doing concept art or making props and costumes or makeup. I'm willing to get into anything and everything! Looking forward to joining such an expansive community.

Found the site looking for Supernatural (Winchesters) inspired themes ... helping my daughter make curse boxes for a wedding party whom are all fans. Major DIY'er, crafter, sewist and amateur artist.

Newbie here. I'm just a girl from the ghetto, essentially, who happens to be a huge nerd at heart.

I love to collect replica props, but I slowly want to get into making them. I currently own a BSG replica "Starbuck" blaster (the weathered/worn one she uses in season one while on Caprica looking for an arrow). I love it with my whole heart. Not to mention my own personalized dog tags, but what BSG fan doesn't have those by now? I'm friends with those over at The Colonial Fleet, who are MAJORLY into recreating things. They're awesome people.

I've really gotten into Doctor Who over the past couple of years and would love to either buy or attempt to create my own Sonic Screwdriver. However, I'm a perfectionist, so I know whatever I make won't be to my own standards. I love to see what you all make though. I'm currently attempting to find the ways and means to make a Sarah Jane Smith sonic lipstick and a Fourth Doctor sonic screwdriver (that both make the sounds they're supposed to). Both relatively easy, but it's a matter of degrees since I have no past with creating. They're both small props, but require some electric work, which I'm very obviously not good with. Hopefully I can learn a bit from here.

Thanks guys!

Greetings I am a newb. I am interested in models and have been building a gb uniform and all associated props. I have a few projects in the works right now and I am excited to read the threads and see what others have done.

Good morning all,

I am Cory, aka MrMoonshine1974 on twitter.

I am a newbie when it comes to making my own props, and have made my own Vacuum forming table based on the James Burton design.

I do not know how to start a project thread yet, but if you would like to see what I am working on, I have created a album on my Facebook profile showing how I have been doing them.

To view those photo's click here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10154222650285430.1073741827.560060429&type=1&l=361afa9575

Please feel free to comment on them, as it will help me with them. :)

Hi!

Just found this forum a few days ago while watching youtube videos about cosplay. I've been a cosplayer for quite a few years and I've mostly cosplayed from Anime/Cartoons so far but recently I have gotten more into comics and I'm currently working on a Winter Soldier cosplay, which I have found lots of interesting info about it here too.

Hay all.

I have been lurking on the site over a year and decided to get my feet wet. I have made a few pepakura helmets and now trying foam. Thanks all for the info.
