Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi all, I've never officially done this so here goes....

My name is Yuri I saw the first Star Wars movie back in RUSSIA when I was like 7 years old. I fell in love with SiFi and especially Star Wars as I had never seen anything like that before. My family moved to America when I was 9. I have always collected something.. Sports cards then comics (basement is still full). Last year for Christmas my brother gave me a master Replicas Fx Darth Vader Lightsaber autographed by Dave Prowse and he created a monster. Since then I have acquired IMHO some awesome props and SS models. This hobby has now taken up 2 rooms in my house (1 for displaying/ 1 for boxes) I have no artistic abilities but I am a huge collector of most things SiFi or comic book related. If it's Starts with "Star" I'm probably obsessed with it :D. I look forward to getting to know everyone. Peace

Good Day

My name is Alain and I live in Montreal, Quebec. I love this site and I really admire the work and the talent. What I have seen so far is absolutely awesome.

I am afraid that my own talent starts and stops at woodworking. I am an avid Intarsia artist looking to expand my work into the fantasy realms. I will be posting some of my work soon.

Looking forward to contributing what I can to the community.

Hi my name is Tony Landrum I have enjoyed the idea of creating costumes for several years now. Got out of class back in high school buy creating the costumes for our schools play beauty and the beast. My current project is Bane from batman similar to his depiction from young justice with a touch of original and Christopher Nolan in there as well. I hope to grow and learn from the experiences of others here and hope to see some of you at the Lexington Kentucky toy and comic convention in March 2014

Hey guys, I'm Shawn. Long time actor and set builder who just recently got into cosplay in the last few years. Was directed here when I asked a friend on advice using foam in making a Robo-Bonzi costume I've been thinking about for a while. There's so much good info here I'm not quite sure what to do! Wish me luck and good crafting!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello all, my name is Liam. I'm an industrial designer living in Brooklyn, NY, but my real passion is custom models (I'm currently working as an architectural model maker). I have always lived in the world of sci-fi and fantasy books, comics, movies, shows, and games, but have only recently started applying my craft to this universe. I found RPF through being a fan of Adam Savage and Tested.com, and will soon be posting my first replica build, the Magnum pistol from Halo 3!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey all,
I'm Chris I am very happy to find a group such as this, I have made a few, masks and appliances over the past few years and it seems to be snowballing from a hobby to a part time job in Sept and Oct anyway, I started with sculpting some small "Eye of the Beholder" then did a werewolf appliance, then a predator mask, I am working on an "Operetta" from Monster High and concurrently "The Silence" from Doctor Who, big job. Wish me luck and any helpful ideas about lessening the weight would be great.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey, guys. I'm Mikhail, your typical multimedia nerd; been working in the physical therapy field for over a year now, but have been following the cosplay / props community for quite a few years and am just now starting on my own ambitious first project. I'm a lurker by nature on forums, but I'll try to chime in occasionally, though my knowledge pales in comparison to a lot of you guys. I look forward to learning more about prop construction and finally putting it to use.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello everybody!
I'm a seamstress with 10+ years of experience, who has now turned her finicky, very particular ways to cosplay mostly exclusively. I've been cosplaying casually for about three years now, but I've decided to really step up my game and start competing and make my cosplays more epic! Currently I'm revamping my Lady Loki, working on a Thor Avengers build, working on several Meridas, and Rapunzel with her Eugene, and am planning Kid Loki and Miss Marvel, and maybe Lady Sif for next year. I've been lurking here for a while now, so I decided to finally join! Looking forward to learning and meeting some new people!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey all,
Just stopped by in hopes of finding somebody that can make or point me in direction to get some replicas made.

Thanks for hosting this forum, it looks like an awesome resource, and I will be posting in the Junkyard to see if somebody can help me out!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello All! I am excited to have discovered this site! I am a seamstress and crafter with a sincere passion for my work. I also have a love for Marvel Comics, Disney World and Star Wars. My children, boy/girl twins and 2 year old baby girl are also a growing up with the same loves. I found this site while searching for Spiderman costume patterns for my 4 year old son. Being a seamstress I just cannot bring myself to purchase a chintzy costume. And after the light up laser glove and the trick or treat jet pack back pack for his Buzz Lightyear costume last year my son seems to think I can do anything! I have to say I too have been impressed with some of the things that have come from my brain and off my sewing machine. Of course not without many failures. I have just loved looking through the replica costumes a truly talented group of people here! I can certainly see how I will be on here often especially come Halloween! And special occasions that will require a costume. We are planning a big Star Wars year in the future, how could we not I have boy/girl twins and the force is strong with these two!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Good Eeeevening.

I have just had my eyes opened recently by discovering Adam Savage's youtube pod casts with the Tested guys and I realized I am a closet "maker".
Ive been making things off and on for years, and now I have new inspiration with this forum. Intimidating really, but inspiring.
My interests are Star Wars (I have big plans for Mandalorian armor for me and my 10 yr old), Warhammer 40k props, and a hodge podge of everything under the sun.
I live and work in Central Florida (East coast) and enjoyed a stint at Kennedy Space Center as a graphic designer. My father introduced me to regular model making at a young age and Im fascinated by WW2 warbirds. I have a love for the Space Program, in whatever derelict state it may be in currently, fueled by my proximity to it and my father and mothers involvement (dad was an electrical engineer that worked on the Saturn V Instrumentation and Guidance section). I have a penchant for militaria and firearms, but not in a weird, apocalyptic way.
Noone is really reading these anyways, but on the off-chance someone will, I wanted to say hello.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

G'day.

I'm very new at this type of thing. Never made a costume, never acted as a character since I was a kid and haven't been to any cons but I found new inspiration and figure its not too late.

I'm just starting my very first costume. My all time fave batman villain is of course the Riddler, and so I want to do my version of his costume. I like aspects of his costume from the comics, tv series and game, but ultimately I don't see myself making an exact replica true to screen.

I am using my favourite aspects of the various Riddler costumes, combining them with some of my own personal ideas to create my take on the Riddler.

This is going to be my first costume so I plan to do it to the best quality possible, and so will be a slow build. The hat is proving to be difficult, finding a bowler in the shade of green is proving beyond difficult and so am researching dying/painting techniques that will work well for a felt hat.
I have the mask done already, 'though I may end up painting it a darker shade of purple yet, depending how the rest of the outfit turns out.
I am making the jacket/pants myself and I'm thinking of adding a waistcoat in as well, making it a casual style of 3 piece suit. still working out the idea for that, so its a ever changing plan. The cane will be based off of the skull cane from batman forever, though I will be changing a lot of that too.

Hopefully its done by ozcomicon next year, because I have ideas for the next costume but one at a time, one at a time.

cheers
JP

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi everyone.

Just getting into props and stuff. I'm just about finished painting my first boba fett helmet. Next up some Dredd stuff and then who knows. Really liking this site and reading about people with such skills and passion.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi Guys and Gals

Been lurking on the forum for just over a year now. Love to do things with my hands that keep me out of trouble and building Pepekura is awesome. Done a Predator bio as my first project and then made a scaled down one for my daughter.

Got very into this last year at Halloween when some friends challenged me to come this year in full Iron Man armor. SO been working on that for about 10 months now and still not getting very far. I keep redoing stuff. I should have all the upper body completed by this years party - except one are because I still got to be able to drink beer.

Will post some pics of my stuff when I get a chance, at the moment it is fill / sand / fill / sand (I miss my life)

Ross

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Just discovered this forum, and I'm excited!

My name is Jason from Portland, OR, and I like to make things--and I usually blog about each of my projects.

Currently, I'm making a silicone mask of an orc, and everything has gone fairly well except my silicone seems like it's old or something. Oh well, back to the drawing board!

Thanks for this awesome website!
