Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello everyone. I am completely new to replicas, with the exception of a few swords. I am interested in a new hobby, and I really have to say that Seeing al the amazing things you all do on here, makes me want to learn.

I am primarily interested in replica uniforms, costumes, and graphic design. But I have yet to really sink my teeth into any particular area.

Nice to meet you all!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello everyone, I'm Andrew from Arizona, and although I've never built a prop or replica prop before, it's something I've always wanted to try. I recently procured a full time job and I needed a little side project to work on in my downtime.

Hi, I live in MI and I enjoy Sci Fi, Fantasy and Action movies. I'm very interested in learning how to build accurate movie props. I think this is a great community and cannot wait to get started on a project.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello, I just recently heard of this site through an interview with Adam Savage.
I decided to join since I have just started making (or trying to make) my own Enchiridion (Handbook in Adventure Time) and since I am helping my sister make her cosplay's.

Well, I hope this will not only be a place to show my work but also get inspiration and (in all probability help) new friends with similar interests.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi all,

I just tought that I would introduce myself I'm Lee from the UK.

I joined here at the back end of last year & have been lurking around for a for a little while but it is only in the past few weeks that but have only had the chance to spend much time on here.

I've been into movie props & memorabilia for quite a few years now (okay as long as I can remember) ever since I saw the original Star Wars & had some of the toys when I was an impressionable youngster & the desire has never left me :)

I've have made the odd kit model but have never really thought that much about sculpting or modelling something from scratch not until recently that is.

My main interest lies in Sci-Fi & Fantasy related items & my particular favorites are Star Wars & Star Trek (of course), Judge Dredd, Demolition Man, Equilibrium, Total Recall, Lord of The Rings, Hobbit & Harry Potter & movies of that ilk. Over the past few years I've branched out a little & picked up some more general bits & pieces from other films that I like later Bond & the Bevely Hills Cop Series but I am interested in making and collecting movie props & expanding my collection.

Over the years I've managed to pick up a few nice & now hard to find items (or at least hard to afford) I have the Sideshow Collectables T-800 (clean & Battle Damaged), TX plus the endo arm & Plasma Rifle as well as several of the Star Wars full size blasters & light sabres they issues in the early 2000's as well as some of the Master Replica light sabres.

I love reading through build threads I am in awe of the skill of some people on here & seeing some of their finished work is astounding. There are some pretty amazing collections on here too so keep them coming.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi everyone, I'm John from IL and I'm addicted... wait wrong speech (though my wife may feel those are still the right words). I found out about the RPF from the Still untitled series on Tested with Adam Savage. Between him mentioning the site, the plethora of info on the maker community, and my inability to not add new skillsets and knowledge to my hobby interests it will only be a matter of time before I overload on all the awesome info here.

My interests (for now) began with a childhood interest in collecting the Transformers toys I had or couldn't convince my parents to buy me and a love for the concept of the Man Cave (though more similar to Adam's concept of "The Cave") My current plan is as follows (will probably change by tomorrow :lol ):

Irish Pub style with Samurai Influence (Haven't figured out how I will pull that off)
Collectibles strategically placed in said décor (toys, props, and replicas mostly)
Arcade cabinets and Pinball machines (Arduino and Ben Heck will/should be a great help here)
and pepakura 1:1 armor sets scattered throughout (thinking Master Chief, Iron Man, and something Batman)

I must admit I am currently in more of a read and learn stage but many of these threads are definitely pushing me to move on to the build/collect stages. My wife is angry with you all (you have been warned) :lol :lol :lol

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

G'day gang,

I've just started to follow some of the great work being done. some of the images are fantastic.
I'm pretty new to modelling & airbrush but have managed to put together some top gun helmets & thor hammers...
I'm really looking forward to seeing how far we can all take replicas too

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

I found out about this forum by searching for various Sonic screwdriver props on the 'net - found the contest - and had to register and enter the contest. Thankfully the first day of registration coincided with the closing date of the contest so I made it by the skin of my teeth! I really enjoyed designing and building it too.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Good Morning,My name is Derek and I live in NY.

I've been browsing this forum for a couple of months just following some of the projects and admiring the amount of talent and creativity of the people that post here. I've always been into comics and Sci-Fi and I've always loved to build and create so it just seemed like the logical thing to become a member here and learn what I can. I recently started on a Mark 42 using the pep files from Jackieisrockin's build which will hopefully be ready for this years NYCC.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Greetings!

I've lurked here for a very long time and decided to finally join up. I have no idea why it took me so long, but I'm here now.

I've been making and building various things most of my life. Mainly out of necessity. For the last 5 years, I've been getting deeper and deeper in the world of costuming, cosplay and prop making. Especially prop making. My specialty is apparently comically over-sized weapons, from what my friends tell me.

Ultimately, just glad to finally be a part of this community.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey All,

I've been wanting to do this for a while but haven't had the time. Now that my partner and I are separating I should have a lot more time since I will only have my kid half the week. My goal is to start on his Halloween costume right away and if there is time make something for myself that will work along with his. Basically, I want him to be stoked and the envy of his friends. I figure this could be a father and son project that we do every year. Plus it's a way to get him even more into the things I like.

FTR, I am a total noob at this but I help run the creative end of a t-shirt company. The Alien franchise is one of our licensed properties... so I got that going for me.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello. I am from the US. I am pretty new to cosplay, but have several costumes planned for myself and my kids for Dragon*con 2013. We did a fairly decent Thor (Earth's Mightiest Heroes season 2), Red Skull, and Loki (EMH episode 26 version) for Halloween next year, but I'm looking toward expanding into more detailed and complex costumes.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello All!

My name is Matt and I have been browsing around here for a few weeks. Ive recently gotten into 3d printing but have always been into making and crafting things. What brought me here is searching for specs on a stormtrooper suit and I just really love all of the information available here. In the future, a few other projects I want to take on would definitely be a Warhammer Space Marine suit, a Blade Runner pistol and a helmet from 300.

Overall, Im just super stoked to be here and look forward to contributing and learning as much as I can!
