Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi all!

I've been lurking here for a while, admiring your work. But as I have started my prop/costume making seriously I figured it would be fitting to sign up :)

I'm a Swedish student in Computer Aided Design who have always loved to make stuff, but I'm green when it comes to props/costumes.
I'm currently working on an Iron Man helmet.
The faceplate is almost finished for priming, minus the screws:

I'm pretty sure I'll be needing advice further on. :)

Hi everyone. My name's Sam, I'm a film student in London, UK. Right now I'm in the planning stages for a Mass Effect film, a drama about two asari defending a farm from a dwindling reaper threat, so I'm after props and costume. Right now that's specifically a high-quality Marauder costume which I'd like to commission but I'm sure as pre-production continues there will be lots more things we need. I got alerted to the site by mywickedarmor.

Hi i'm Tim from America I came to this forum while looking up how to make a spidey costume. I came to this forum and found people with similar interests and decided to stay. Right now I am working on an amazing spider man suit using Taylor's print.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Not saying I believe a single word, but if you did not copyright your ideas and did in fact share those ideas on a free forum for anyone to see and use, then you don't legally have a leg to stand on. my dad invented Bell bottom jeans and that little tray on the back of pushchairs toddlers stand on years before they went on the market. He never patented his ideas and so has no legal claim to them. The idea belongs to the guy who patented or copyrighted it first. Sorry, but you snooze you loose.

I got my statute of limitations ticking away for me and none the less! no matter if what you say is true or not I am telling the truth either way.

IP theft happens directly and indirectly. Take the priceless campaign. started by two guys and for years many created priceless photos that are funny then master card comes along and copyrights it when they knew they did not own it. Cant not copyright an idea? well then lets strip copyright law of certain ideas.

Besides I told Jeff Lindsay it was not about the money but that I did want recognition for it since Dexter is a part of most of my life(45 years)

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

G'day all,

Ha Ha we don't actually say that in Australia but just thought I would start by saying I live in Sunny Queensland and I really like this site. I have started my first build and having an absolute ball with it.

I will keep you all updated and I will also keep tabs on where I get my supplies from specially since we don't have a Walmart or Sears here in Aus.

Cheers guys and keep up the good work.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello to all! I am very interested in making an Iron Man suit from EVA Foam. Idk where exactly to begin since I'm having issues getting any pepakura files downloaded to my laptop. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also I realize its a common thing with newbees. Other than that I'm very excited to be here and with a stroke of luck I'll make this suit with the support of all who reside on this page!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey folks,
My name is Jason . I am a sculptor/ 3D modeler, jewelry maker, etc.
I have worked on feature films as a special FX makeup artist, for some well-known shops (stay tuned, might be able to dig up some old production molds! ), and I am currently deeply involved in the 3D printing world.
Some friends and I are really psyched to use this new technology to make awesome props.
There are a lot of cool, talented people on this site, I look forward to getting to know them (well, at least some of them)

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello everyone.
My name is Will. I'm a super noobie when it come to prop and costume building, But I've always had the passion. Adam Savage is my biggest influence to start building things I want from movie. My background is in Auto paint and body, so a lot of the skills transferred over.

The next project I'm starting on, now that I have some time and money is the Iron Man MK VI I've seen a few on here and they look great. I heard of technique called vacuum metalization. That I would have to send the pieces off to a company once they're cast and sanded smooth. If any one has done this before please let me know what your experiences were. I really don"t want to just do a plastic coating on foam that I paint. I'm sure I could make it look good, but I want to go that extra extra mile.

The Project after that (or maybe at the same time) would be Pepper's Rescue suit for my girlfriend.

Then I would love to make a TMNT Donatello from the 90's films.

Thanks for reading and I would appreciate any help, hints, and tricks.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hola, Christian here.

I'm sort of a jack-of-all-trades/meta-geek, but tend to get good reviews when I actually put effort into costuming. After years of celebrity-look-alike comparisons, I figured it's finally time to put together an Iron Man suit, so I started googling and ended up here. I'm incredibly impressed, and hope to learn a ton about pepakura in time to put a suit together before next Halloween. And then perhaps other stuff after that.

Thanks for being an excellent resource already!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

How Did I come across the Rpf? Well, a existing member(or at least visitor) showed me this site. After looking around I had to give it a try. But while looking for stuff to inspire me about what to make, I found that I couldn't dive after what I wanted. So I joined! So currently I am drafting up a few starter projects!

1.) A Framed SHIELD Logo
2.) A Heimerdinger Turret from League of Legends
3.) A Sewn Chaos Orianna Ball from League of Legends
4.) Maokai Sappling from League of Legends

Yea, I'm a bit nerdy. I have plans to have all four completed in time for Christmas. What really provoked me into jumping into this project, was that when I saw that I found a community with such FREAKIN AWESOME work; Iron Man Suits, N7 Jacket, Swords, Armor, Replica guns.....I'll just stop now...lol

You get the idea...lol

Can't wait to put up pics soon!
