re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello All!

I'm totally knew to the whole cosplay scene and I'm looking to get into it not just for fun but also for my dissertation research. I'm particularly interested in creating a Robin costume. I don't have any costume experience so any pointers would be great!

Howdy All!
I'm Carolyn, but everyone just calls me Maddox. I live in the beautiful maritime province of Nova Scotia in Canada; been a long time nerd/geek and sci-fi junkie; I believe you can be a fan of both Star Trek AND Star Wars; and am a HUGE movie buff (my movie collection rounds out to about 500).

I'm brand new to the pepakura/armour builds, but have been making sewn costumes for years including a Star Trek: TNG uniform; Tauros cheerleader outfit for the first Bring It On movie; panther outfit; and a Mad Hatter ensemble (admittedly I did buy the hat...). So, if anyone needs help with a sewing portion of a project, I will be more than willing to try and lend a hand or some help!

I want to get into props as much as full suits, and am currently starting work on an Iron Man Mark III suit (Any help would be greatly appreciated!). I found pepakura and this sight through The Hero Tutorials run by Stealth (who did an awesome job explaining EVERYTHING...you should really watch them...anywho...I digress...)

It's great to meet you all!

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello All... my name is Dean Laughlin from Collinsville, Oklahoma. I am a long time sci fi fan. My first big project to scratch build was a Ghostbuster's proton pack... I will try to get some pictures posted, I think it turned out really well. My next project is build a vacuum forming table to get into some more prop building. I am going to rebuild a lighter proton pack by vacuum forming it... I know my back with thank me! LOL

After that, being a classic series Battlestar Galactica fan, I am going to put together a Cylon!!! I can't hardly wait to get going on it! :)

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi everyboby,

My name is Xavier. I've been visiting this Forum for about a year, and I have always been inspired by the great work that each member does here.

I have been immersed in the building of a buzz lightyear foam suit replica.

I am a big fan of movies, like many of you here. I have been learning the techniques of how to make my own helmets and armors from the movies.
Out of all the materials and options I have chosen foam and different textiles
to work.

I'm glad to present myself in such a great community and become part of it, and I hope to be able to inspire others just like I've been inspired by many of you.

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello everyone. Found this site thanks to Stealth and his youtube channel TheHeroTutorials. I've been looking into prop and costume making for a while now and want to get into it. Considering I'm in senior year of high school as of next august, I don't really have a job. This considered, I'll be slowly gathering tools as I go and as needed, for projects that I want to make. I'd like to start with something smaller, like a mask maybe, although I would love to build an Iron Man Mark VI suit for next year's Comic-Con. I hope to learn allot from everyone here and I hope to be able to get into this new potential hobby of mine.

Cheers from Puerto Rico! :)

Hi everyone!

I've been researching Hollywood movie props/costumes recently in an effort to learn the skills I need to someday become a professional prop designer. In my research, I discovered Adam Savage's TED talk, where he mentioned this forum as a site he frequents. With a nod of approval from one of my personal heroes, I figured it had to be a pretty awesome place.

I'm expecting to learn a LOT here. Everyone is so tremendously talented. Hope I can keep up. :)

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi guys, Im new here and wanted to say hi, Ive been building medieval steel armor for the last 10 years and recently got interested in making some Iron man armor. Im just learning about pepakura , Id like to make it solid and wearable so that means I dont use the foam files ive seen around yes?

Im really bad at computer stuff and was wondering if anyone could point me to where I can download the IM armor files for the pepakura armor?

Ive been reading the pep sticky thread and am on page 5, From what ive seen so far Im blown away at the talent around here.

Thank you in advance for your time spent replying.

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Good afternoon all!
I am new to the site (obviously) and am somewhat new to the wonderful world of prop/costume design/creation.

I am currently a member of the 405th as well as Soaring Hammer. This site came highly recommended to me by many, so here I am. I will be posting a current and ongoing build thread of mine in the "Replica Costume" Section over the next little while. I would love nothing more than to have any comments, questions, critiques that anyone would be willing to offer!

Looking forward to meeting you all! :)
Dave/Cereal.
