re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello,

I was directed to this website by Burgerstrings on DA. I have been looking for a costume modeler who can make me a very good costume based on the original Megaman outfit. I am not a costume modeler myself and have no experience with this sort of thing so this is pretty much my last resort.

I do however have a pretty steady paycheck and am willing to pay someone to make my dream come true. Any reasonable offer will be investigated and I hope that my search bears fruit here. Hopefully someone will take an interest and help me in this endeavor.

Hi all!
I'm new to this forum, but not new to prop and replica collecting. I usually go by Chaotica, but I go by gremlin_collector on the MPF. I also sculpt quite often, including a few small replicas, and have have plans for some others.
I mainly collect Gremlins memorabilia, but I love the horror and science fiction movies of all sorts!

Hi there,

I decided that I wanted to build my own Obi Wan Lightsaber hilt 'cos I can't afford a MR one, so I bought a coupla bits off eBay and then the seller has actually sent me most of the parts I need to complete the build.

What a great guy! He's saved me so much time and money and hasn't even asked for the postage that he's paid to send it all.

I've always been keen on props from TV and film and I even created a blaster from an Action Man (GI Joe) Sterling machine gun.

This forum has been so much help for me even before registering and I hope to learn even more from you guys.

I'm in the UK, so it's very difficult now to get hold of replica guns to recreate blasters and things like the Man From Uncle gun but I still hold out for the chance to do so.

I might also invest in a resin Stormtrooper blaster to paint and build for myself.

Hi,
I’m new here. I’m K. and I’m 25 years old and I live in the Netherlands. I’ve loved collecting movie stuff & prop replica’s for as long as I remember. I also enjoy re-creating props myself.

In real life I’m a goldsmith & artist. Often I make movie & tv inspired jewelry.

I came across this forum via a friend a few weeks ago and have been reading various topics in total awe ever since.

Hi all, I'm Mark. I've been a member for awhile but my collecting took a back seat for a couple of years to higher priorities.

But I'm back and ready to learn from you brilliant and creative people.

Primary prop interests: Battlestar Galactica TOS, Star Trek TOS and movies 1-6, Space: 1999, Logan's Run, Alien - basically all my childhood faves.

I've recently developed a taste for JP, as there are so many prop ideas abound.

sup people! Grave told me about this site, so I took a look and really like what I see. I've been pepping for about a year, and just got into foam modeling. I'll post some of my work soon but alot of it is incomplete:lol

Hi everyone, I am Mark and came here because I am amazed with the attention to detail and passion you guys have for movie props.

Greetings all... As my bio for my Xbox gamertag says "Life it HAPPENS!!!". Where to begin... bear with me. So the year before last I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer, and being an avid gamer I found myself looking for a few games to keep me busy after surgery and while going through all my treatments. It was recommended I give Mass Effect a try since I love first person shooters. It was a perfect fit for me! Having grown up on the original Star Wars trilogy, it was right up my alley and turned out to be the escapism from real life I needed at the time.

Needless to say I have been anxiously waiting for ME3 since last May. Of course I finished the game in two weeks, and have decided to build myself a FemShep costume for halloween. I am not a costumer, but I am pretty crafty... so I'm very excited to have everyone's posts and ideas on this site. Now in the home stretch... you are all part of my therapy and I can't thank all the ideas and help I have already gotten from reading the current threads. Keep posting and thanks again.

Howdy howdy!

I've been making costumes and props for years, and a friend of mine who's on here already prompted me to join up when the rationing was open a few years ago. Unfortunately, no... actually fortunately, I haven't been able to make anything for a long time because we've got our 2 year old son now who takes up all my free time... he's way too much fun for me to do anything other than play with him :lol One day I'll be able to make stuff for him instead of me :cheers

I can honestly say, I did not know something like The RPF existed :thumbsup... or that there were any other people who liked to do this kind of thing (i've only ever met one, and he got me signed up to it :lol) And I've no got hope for the future... I can see that it is actually possible to make a costume that looks BETTER than the CGI in a film... just incredible what you guys can do :thumbsup

Here's a couple of things I've made in the past:
Buzz, Reaper & Biker Scout costumes

3 Ghostbuster Snack Dispensers for Halloween (when the room is dark)

I did have 3 originally, but my brother wanted one of them!

Everything I've made is always on a budget so I tend to only make approximations of things, but they generally get a good response so that's nice :) All 3 traps cost about £15, the Buzz & Bikerscout costumes were about £40 each, and the reaper mask was less than £5

Anyway, I live in London with my fiance Mirka and our little dooder Indiana Phoenix... and I plan on one day making an extra room in out flat so I can make stuff properly :thumbsup

My next project, if I can squeeze it in, is to make a Bumblebee costume with all kinds of cool effects (amp and speakers in the chest for voice changer, gun with sound/smoke/rotating barrel/flashing light, the 'signal' sound effect, and sounds for when I'm walking) - I've just been planning and researching before I make a start on anything, so I'll be asking tons of questions from you all :p

Thanks for having me, and keep up the stunning work!
Rob

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi everyone.
I'm Nate, I'm in south west england currently working on an Iron man pep helmet and Mjolnir, have only recently found out that this kind of thing is possible by a ham fisted fool like me!:)

I've been really impressed by what you guys can do with a bit of foam/paper/plastic and some imagination and though was only intending on making the hammer and helmet, I think I've been convinced to take the next step and make a whole iron man suit but am thinking of using foam for quick results and pure laziness in doing that much pep work! :thumbsup

when i start that then of course I'll keep you all abreast of the situation.

but thanks for hte inspiration and good luck with whatever you're building!

Hello there!
I've been doing art all my life, but I just started costuming. It's a lot of fun, and I hope to maybe make a career of it someday. Let's keep dreaming :)

I would like to learn to make latex and silicone prosthetics and masks better because they are something I really enjoy. I also like making props, and hope that being at college now, with access to facilities and tools I will be able to better my skills!

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey everyone!

I got into props at a young age. My first prop was a Freddy glove made from sheet metal, jb weld, a work glove and a set of my moms steak knives (she was not amused). I am currently working on a GB1 pack and costume, but I really want to branch out.

Thanks!

Hey Everyone,
I'm Bayu, from Indonesia living in Jakarta with my wife. I signed up because this seems like a community full of fantastic people and completely awesome talent. I've never made props but I've always been interested in them.

Thanks!

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello,
I've known about the RPF from other members, particularly Arwyniel whom I know from another forum.

Recent changes in my life have made me realize I really should belong here too.

I'm an artisan/craftsman who makes a wide variety of different things for a wide variety of people.

I'm hoping to fit in here, and think I will based on what I've seen from so many very talented members here.

Hello everyone,
Came across this site while looking for Tron related props. (Actually I was brought to the hacked site, but was redirected here.) I already made a purchase after some browsing and I am considering other things of interest. I must say from what I've seen so far the community is only topped by the people who compose it. Glad to be a part of it!
