Hello to all

I've been reading the RPF for about seven years, but never joined till now. I have always wanted stormtrooper armor and purchased a set from Ap around 2003. Long story short, I sold the armor to a member here named Clutch. Anyway, I saw Star Wars, A New Hope as a kid and have been hooked ever since. Hope I don't wear out my welcome here, thanks to all for welcoming me.

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi guys and gals (rule 16 apply here?)

I have previously been known to roll up at fancy dress parties in home-made costumes, obviously nowhere near the level of awesomeness and screen accuracy of the costumes seen here, but nevertheless impressive compared to the usual lame efforts or shop bought outfits worn by my peers. It has gotten to the point that people are now looking forward to seeing what I wear at each party... which has lead me here for ideas and inspiration. I actually have very little skills when it comes to actually making costumes (I lack sewing skills so swear by gaffer/duct tape and wonder web), but I more than make it up in enthusiasm!

I have also, due to my job skillset, been looking a little into replica props. I am a CNC programmer, manual miller/turner and surface grinder by trade and feel I could actually utilise these skills to make something decent (and maybe at some point barter my skills for someone elses).

Well, thats all folks. Looking forward to seeing more of your awesome builds and maybe posting some pics of my own when I have something I'm not too embarrassed to post.

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi all! I just joined last week and stumbled upon this thread so I thought I'd add in my little bit. I love doing costumes and replicating movie costumes or doing "inspired" pieces from movies etc. I actually studied musical theatre so my passion for dressing up stems from that and from Halloween being my fav holiday. I did study as an apprentice with my friend who is a costume professor for about 5 years and then continued on as a hobby at home. I now work from home making corsets and costumes for people and in between that I make as elaborate as I can costumes for myself. Ive just gotten into going to things like the Jareths labyrinth Ball and comic con here in SoCal and hope to do more things like the Edwardian Ball in san fran etc.

This site is an amazing source of talent and info and there are so many people that I can't even compare to but hopefully one day!

Hello!

Glad to be on here finally! I am an industrial designer that enjoys creating CAD databases of different props and things. I uploaded some pics in my profile of some of the renders I have done.

I look forward to doing many more!

Enjoy!

Hi,

I'm nico129, from Brussels, 29 years old. I'm a big fan of movies et collectibles. I hope to find here a nice community and some idea for my collection ;) See you on the forum.

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Just checking in from Austin, TX. My name is Barry, and I've been lurking on this site since I came upon it accidentally while researching my Han Solo costume a couple of months ago. I'm a big fan of Goonies and Alien. Wow. And I thought I had OCD with the detail I try to add to my props, until I saw some of the things being produced here. Great job.

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi,
My name is Andre, or Dre. I kept encountering this website on my researches for various props and so on. Eventually I decided to join to contact a certain member, but I hope to be a part of this community as well. As for my prop building or whatnot, I'm a wannabe 501st guy. I'm working on Tusken Raider right now. I have everything but the robe and mask right now. Lately, I've also been working on sculpting clay for hopeful use to make some masks myself (as opposed to buying them). I really don't know why I've been into making costumes lately, I used to make light sabers when I was 13 or so, but quit until just this last year. It was a good way to burn off steam in my down time while in college I guess.

Anyway, if anyone cares here's some pictures of what I have completed so far. There's none of the lightsabers, I threw them away years ago for whatever reason.

I'm really new with clay, and just recently found a shop that carries some nice oil-based stuff. Anyway, HI! Sorry for the long post with lots of pics :D

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

I just found this site a week or two ago. Its great!

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi, I'm Abe an 80's kid so I like to make legit looking replicas of TV and movie items when I know I cannot buy them otherwise.

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Sunrider checking in. Master of nothing here. Know a little about electronics , light & sound. Like to make stuff and have been making lightsabers for a little while now. Hope to learn more around here maybe contribute.

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi-
I've sat back long enough, watching people make beautiful/awesome/amazing replicas, and now, I want in on the fun. I hope to make some friends here, and learn some tricks/skills/have fun here. Big fan of the original Star Wars movies (I've wanted to make a Boba Fett Costume for some time), as well as lotsa other movies that would probably bore you to tears to list. Anyways, I might try my hand at the $20 lightsaber contest. I hope to be talking to the lot of you soon enough!

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Ah, here's the intro thread! I was looking too hard for it and missed it. Oops.

I joined up a while ago to see what I could learn. I can't keep my big mouth shut, so here I am, feet first into posting.

I'm not nearly as talented as the lot of you here--No clue about armor-making, vac forming, latex work, electronics... But I do enjoy making costumes and trying to get them as screen-accurate as I can. I started with anime & manga costumes a few years ago and have finally moved onto things that more people actually *recognize* on the spot. :lol I'll see if I can gather up some photos of things like my Sgt. Pepper Ringo uniform, GB II Janine and various other goodies.

Currently, I'm getting back into Star Wars, thanks to The Clone Wars (gateway drug, I swear), am knee-deep into Ghostbusters and am hoping to satisfy a lifelong love of Star Trek TOS at some point.

Um...I also like cats, make puppets and doodle goofy cartoons in my spare time. (I'm terrible at intros.)

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Howdy,

I found this site googling Battlestar Galactica costumes. Glad I finally signed up.

I'm having a good time just looking at all the talent here.

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Howdy all,
I'm usually over at the lightsaber forums at TCSS an FX-Sabers, but I just found this site while searching for tron legacy costumes, since that's what I'm thinking of doing for next Halloween.
Glad to see there is a plethora of info and really skilled people here!

Oh and just in case you're interested, here is a link to some of my lightsaber builds.

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey all!
So this year i decided to actually take a step into the Prop realm and build a "hardware store lightsaber" fora costume. I have to say it was more fun thatn i imagined and the prop itself was pretty epic for using all hand tools... In any case now that the lightsaber has made rounds in the office. It appears that everyone wants one. After seeing some info on a warmachine suit... And the subsequent link... I thought id take a peek here and see who else/what else i could try making and here we are... pop me a message and ill try to get that saber posted!
